Premature I know and still hoping it won't come to that, but here are the early runners and riders

Hud me back lads, my excitement level is completely non existent after reading this

https://news.bet365.com/en-gb/article/next-aberdeen-manager-contenders/2025092108382860685

Stephen Robinson

Stephen Robinson has built quite the reputation at St Mirren after guiding the Buddies to three consecutive top-six finishes in the Scottish Premiership.

The 50-year-old only put pen to paper on a new three-year contract with St Mirren last month, but the Aberdeen role may be an enticing prospect for the former Motherwell boss.

His "industrial" style of play has been the subject of criticism of late, most notably from former Celtic striker Chris Sutton, but there's evidence Robinson possesses the tactical flexibility to play to strengths and switch it up where necessary.

Kim Hellberg

Perennially linked with jobs in Scotland, Kim Hellberg is an exciting young coach who is currently in charge of Hammarby IF.

Hammarby are on course for a back-to-back second place finishes in the Allsvenskan and Hellberg has implemented an attractive, possession-based approach.

He came to prominence with IFK Varnamo, a small club with limited resources whom he lifted to fifth in the Allsvenskan.

Hellberg appears to have an appetite to manage on these shores and having experienced initial success under Thelin, Aberdeen may be tempted to sample the Scandinavian market again.

John McGlynn

Ending Falkirk's 15-year absence from the top tier, John McGlynn was named PFA Scotland manager of the year for the second season running following a memorable campaign which concluded with the Scottish Championship title.

McGlynn's Falkirk were 1-0 victors at Pittodrie at the end of August and Aberdeen supporters got to witness first-hand the possession-focused style the 63-year-old has cultivated as the Bairns had 63% of the ball.

One glaring drawback is that this campaign is McGlynn's first in Scotland's top-flight since he was in charge of Hearts in 2012/13.

Michael Skubala

Accumulating years of coaching experience and enjoying a productive stint as caretaker boss of Leeds United, Michael Skubala finally took his first managerial role at Lincoln City in November 2023 and has transformed the Imps into a club with Championship aspirations.

Player development is a key facet in Skubala's management and the 43-year-old has been tactically proactive to ensure Lincoln remain competitive and consistently punch above their weight.

A meticulous operator, Skubala's work ethic is one of the most impressive in the English Football League.

Whenever Jimmy goes - hopefully in 5+ years after managing to pull off the unlikely and turn this thing around but even if it's next week - the new manager simply cannot be appointed until the technical director position is filled.

Bit in bold has to be done quickly whether we are getting a new manager or not.

If anything did happen with Thelin, I think the prudent thing to do is put Leven in charge again until the TD is in and settled. That at least gives us another couple of months to determine whether the players are being impacted by the tactics or if they’re really just shite.

I am somewhat surprised to read today's headlines and realise Jimmy is still in the hotseat.

I still think he needs to go, he has clearly lost the dressing room, particularly our best player in Clarkson. The squad needs Peter to take charge for a while and settle into standard tactics, as clearly the squad is horseshit at playing within JT's modern tactics

I should've trusted my own not-entirely-shit-judgment. It wasn't FB .. it was here on the Arabs discussion

Sounds like @RicoS321 was causing trouble again. He's the Keith Jackson of the forum.

Bloody tabloid posters.

I did quote internet rumours, which I thought was synonymous for "shite", but I'll be more careful in future. They were actually second hand internet rumours too.

I'm still holding out for the diminishing possibility that it won't be needed, but I hope the club have started their succession planning.

What's Neil Warnock doing these days?

At 1pm Tuesday and Thursday this week Neil will be holding a series of events in the nursing home cafeteria to confirm that residents are with him.

Got to be Pressley for me.

He supported us "as a boy", but playing for FOUR of our most hated rivals means he's not a Top Red. In fact, he's lower than a Bottom Red.

He's a massive Dandy. Fucking loves us. Look at the way he let us beat Dundee this season. That's not a coincidence.

Couple of German candidates that could be a good fit:

Florian Kohfeldt - current team is near top of Bundesliga 2. Has coached Werder Bremen, Wolfsburg and Eupen in Belgium.

Enrico Maasen - currently coach of St Gallen, 2nd place in Swiss league. Previously coached Augsburg in Bundesliga and Borussia Dortmund reserve team.

Fairly certain the St Gallen coach won't be coming here, even though we are Scottish cup champions of Scotland.

Askou for me. Incredibly impressive what he’s achieved in a short time at Motherwell - has shown JT up big time - and his style seems to fit our “playing model” - certainly way more than the likes of Robinson does.

Put it this way, anyone who can turn Paul Mcginn into a ball playing defender is some sort of miracle worker - surely he could do something with our lot.

Maloney can GTF…

Fun fact: Steven Pressley scored twice for Aberdeen in his playing career.

Both own goals.

Saw the thread and was impressed we were at 45 pages already, just one hour after Thelin's sacking.

First up, Neil Lennon and Stephen Robinson should be nowhere near the conversation. At least there'll be no talk of Derek McInnes returning.

Askou, I can't see him walking away when two points off a Champions League qualifying spot.

Leven has little management experience. Got a new manager bounce when last in interim charge, and will be interesting to see if he can repeat it again. If he does, then maybe he is worth considering, but also takes some of the blame for the Thelin era (and Robson).

Maloney - he ticks a lot of Cormack's boxes. A more experienced version of Stephen Glass, which was Cormack's original plan, and working under Lutz the club may see him as a good fit. I view him as more of a coach than a manager though, and his two stabs at management so far have been really poor.
