BigAl Posted September 24 Report Posted September 24 Premature I know and still hoping it won't come to that, but here are the early runners and riders Hud me back lads, my excitement level is completely non existent after reading this https://news.bet365.com/en-gb/article/next-aberdeen-manager-contenders/2025092108382860685 Stephen Robinson Stephen Robinson has built quite the reputation at St Mirren after guiding the Buddies to three consecutive top-six finishes in the Scottish Premiership. The 50-year-old only put pen to paper on a new three-year contract with St Mirren last month, but the Aberdeen role may be an enticing prospect for the former Motherwell boss. His "industrial" style of play has been the subject of criticism of late, most notably from former Celtic striker Chris Sutton, but there's evidence Robinson possesses the tactical flexibility to play to strengths and switch it up where necessary. Kim Hellberg Perennially linked with jobs in Scotland, Kim Hellberg is an exciting young coach who is currently in charge of Hammarby IF. Hammarby are on course for a back-to-back second place finishes in the Allsvenskan and Hellberg has implemented an attractive, possession-based approach. He came to prominence with IFK Varnamo, a small club with limited resources whom he lifted to fifth in the Allsvenskan. Hellberg appears to have an appetite to manage on these shores and having experienced initial success under Thelin, Aberdeen may be tempted to sample the Scandinavian market again. John McGlynn Ending Falkirk's 15-year absence from the top tier, John McGlynn was named PFA Scotland manager of the year for the second season running following a memorable campaign which concluded with the Scottish Championship title. McGlynn's Falkirk were 1-0 victors at Pittodrie at the end of August and Aberdeen supporters got to witness first-hand the possession-focused style the 63-year-old has cultivated as the Bairns had 63% of the ball. One glaring drawback is that this campaign is McGlynn's first in Scotland's top-flight since he was in charge of Hearts in 2012/13. Michael Skubala Accumulating years of coaching experience and enjoying a productive stint as caretaker boss of Leeds United, Michael Skubala finally took his first managerial role at Lincoln City in November 2023 and has transformed the Imps into a club with Championship aspirations. Player development is a key facet in Skubala's management and the 43-year-old has been tactically proactive to ensure Lincoln remain competitive and consistently punch above their weight. A meticulous operator, Skubala's work ethic is one of the most impressive in the English Football League. Quote
wee toon red Posted September 24 Report Posted September 24 Whenever Jimmy goes - hopefully in 5+ years after managing to pull off the unlikely and turn this thing around but even if it's next week - the new manager simply cannot be appointed until the technical director position is filled. 4 Quote

Bit in bold has to be done quickly whether we are getting a new manager or not. 2 Quote
Slim Posted September 24 Report Posted September 24 If anything did happen with Thelin, I think the prudent thing to do is put Leven in charge again until the TD is in and settled. That at least gives us another couple of months to determine whether the players are being impacted by the tactics or if they’re really just shite. Quote
Reekie_Red Posted September 24 Report Posted September 24 I am somewhat surprised to read today's headlines and realise Jimmy is still in the hotseat. I still think he needs to go, he has clearly lost the dressing room, particularly our best player in Clarkson. The squad needs Peter to take charge for a while and settle into standard tactics, as clearly the squad is horseshit at playing within JT's modern tactics Quote

I did quote internet rumours, which I thought was synonymous for "shite", but I'll be more careful in future. They were actually second hand internet rumours too. Quote
