Honestly, I'd love a young and enthusiastic manager who wants the job but does that exist? Let's say Neil wanted it, give him his chosen assistant but insist he hires 2 experienced foreign assistants for differing perspectives, ideas, and methodology. The current set up of the buddy system is failing and the last few games only papers over the cracks. Moyes and McCoist don't inspire, neither does George Graham.

We also needs a manager who values Scottish football. Strachan clearly didn't. I'd play Shinnie (biased I know) McGinn, McGregor, even Dorrans before Morrison, Bannan, or McArthur for example. These guys don't play in the championship but is that a higher level than the Euro opponents Celtic and even us have faced? I also think you pick and play guys who clearly play for the jersey. Strachan has picked some real shit.

Neil lennon has a huge set of plums, knows the Scottish game very well and would shake things up in the SFA.

He'd therefore last a month.

Lennon would be the end.
Obnoxious arsehole who lies about Aberdeen fans.

What on earth does an international manager need an assistant for?

I'd say scouting players, finding new players, and coaching to start with. A squad of 20 plus players requires multiple coaches, plus the head to coach and oversee. I do agree to an extent though, not exactly sure what these guys do on a daily basis.

Part time coaches that get together when there's a game in the offing I understand.

But a full time assistant?

Great news. The bookies fav is Moyes apparently. That could be a good move actually.

Can't imagine Moyes doing much. Hopefully we'll hear of some decent applicants in the coming weeks. I doubt the position will be filled this year. I'd personally hold out for a while if there is no outstanding candidate at present. There is plenty of time to work out the best person and folks will come and go from jobs before the next campaign.

Can I be the first (and hopefully the last) to throw the name of Stuart Baxter into the mix.

What about Big Sam  ;)

Big Sam's parents ( and siblings) are Scottish. I wouldn't bet against it...

Allerdyce is a corrupt cunt and would not be happy about him having anything to do with Scottish set up. Really think it has to be someone with no connection with Scottish football currently and with no old firm baggage.

Nae nutters fae Portugal

We could maybe have somebody French.
When we lost he could just shrug his shoulders and say ( in French)
“What do you expect when your players are shite”

It's not going to be "corroupt Sam" and it's not going to be "he's Portuguese, he's one of these".

Like the idea of sitting tight for a while. No rush here. Important decision. A long term one.

Get some cunt in on a trial basis and see what he's made of. Moyes maybe or the cheaper McLeish, who's record was awesome... but did he not fuck us off? No matter, can't blame him at the time.

McLeish....meh but acceptable. However I think he is sitting waiting for sevco to bullet the Portugeezer. They are rookit and McLeish would be a cheap stop gap for 2 or 3 years for them. Scotland have no need to make a hurried decision, after we pump der hun in the successive away/home games Pedro's time would surely be up. Indeed if Saints whup them tomorrow he could be gone by the start of next week.....McLeish may not be available for Scotland. And he couldnt wait to fuck off to those giants of football Birmingham City last time he was Scotland boss.....
