Pre-season 23-24

Playing Charlton down in London on 29 July.

Don't usually bother with pre-season friendlies, but that one could be interesting.

Also going to Portugal for a week long training camp (Aberdeen are, not me).

"More friendlies to be announced" - I imagine once the League Cup draw is made we can pick up teams who have a free date.

I felt we were just not physically up to it today. A yard off Preston and lightweight in the tackle. The ref deciding to leave his cards at home set the tone early and Preston made the most of it.

  • See you there. I will be the drunk one wearing red.

The only time I went there was to see them play Bury in the early 70s - the ground was absolutely massive, you could pick your row, never mind your seat.  It's a bit smaller nowadays.

Meant to say there was mention at the Q&A in the weeg last week of a glamour home friendly on 22nd of July.

Quite enjoy visiting some of these wee grounds pre season, and the relaxed atmosphere.Might be more worthwhile this time with the expected player overhaul

I visited The Valley a couple of times during Charlton’s “glory years” under Alan Curbishley. It’s a decent ground and should be a good visit for anyone going.

Are St Johnstone not in the league cup group stages?

Got £20 return from the Capital to Preston.

Best I can find so far is nearly £70 return ☹️

Might end up driving

I used 'yourparkingspace.co.uk' when I went to see Preston vs Wigan.
Probably not an issue for a pre season friendly but for £6 I got to park on someones drive, 10mins walk from the stadium for the entire afternoon.

There were also various carparks taking cash in hand payments but people were stuck in the jam at the end of the game whereas my space was clear of all that

Al from Glasgow you can get for £32.50 return. Down on the 0937 and back on 1841. One of my mates just booked.

What site did he book that on as I can't find that price.

Maybe I should let my son do it instead 😉

Would that potentially be Calvin Ramsay's Preston debut?

Did he look into the planned works that weekend on the West Coast line and if they would have any impact ?

DT minibuses rule. A bunch of us were on the Beach End Reds minibus to Dens on boxing day 2002. Bloody carnage
