Is there a reason no-one is mentioning Steve Clarke? No doubt he’ll leave Scotland after the World Cup. Knows Scottish football…

Is he not on record saying Kilmarnock would be his only club job in Scotland.

I think he only took it to be closer to his parents at that time.

Very interesting CV 2bf but I can't help but feel he's not going to want to walk out on a club he seems to be doing weel with after only 3 months in charge.

True, but same then probably applies to Askou.

Maybe adding two and two together and coming up with five, but O'Neill at Celtic until the summer, Clarke with Scotland until the summer 🤔

I find it interesting reading names of foreign coaches who may know lutz but may never ever have been to Scotland. Knowledge and most likely experience of the Scottish game sounded like a prerequisite, no??

That’s exactly what he said in his interview, along with stuff about the new manager having a bit of passion & fire in the belly (i.e. not Thelin).

So on that basis half the folk being mentioned won’t qualify.

Askou does qualify though… 😉

Clarke has been very clear in the past he doesn’t want to manage either arse cheek.

Basically said he got out of Scotland to get him and his family away from all that bigotry crap.

Just can’t see him going near either of them. He doesn’t need the money or the hassle.

Not sure he said Killie was the only job he’d take up here, it was more he wouldn’t take an ugly sister job.

Should be a candidate as he’s done very well in our league, but is his style of football aligned to the style we say we want to play?

I’m not so sure…

Well if all of that is true and no reason to doubt you, then it kind of proves my arithmetic is crap 😉

Clarke is a no go, he will retire once we win the world cup in the summer

Clarke'll probably have to go into hiding after we promise Trump we'll let USA win in the final and then scud them 6-0

I can't get too excited now knowing that the guy making the decision was put in place by a consultancy we got in that he worked with previously.

He'll no doubt copy some blueprint that removes all creativity and drums up predictable mediocrity and a safe but dull appointment.

Or am I being harsh on consultants assuming they act in football like they do everywhere else.

Not surprising, he just took on a new job 3 months ago

Can't really disagree with that comment. His name being mentioned did make me wonder if he was to be appointed, would we be in danger of losing him quickly if he got off to a decent start and a bigger club dropped their drawers to him 😉

I'm sold. Gisdol for 18 months to help smooth the path for Peter Leven to take over permanently. Teach him how to implement his gegenpress then hand over the reigns.

(I'd suggest, if no approach has been made at this stage despite Lutz and him knowing each other, there probably won't be one. But then I don't know how Lutz works.)

I’m not. His record as per Wiki is really nothing special.

Been at some big names, but not done a lot.

Just seen that Motherwell have conceded the least number of goals in the league, and the least goals from set pieces, despite the fact they are not a particularly big team (sound familiar?) - and we know how utterly abysmal we are at defending them.

Just another tick in the box for my man Askou.

Ok you could say his record is nothing special too, but we’ve seen what he’s done in Scotland, and with mostly the same squad they had last year that did nothing.

Get it done Lutz…

No doubt a bit of tongue in cheek in your post but in all seriousness, a few folk have been touting Leven and I think his very brief spell in charge when Robson left has clouded people's views.  He was in charge for just 11 games after Warnock left when the season had basically petered out anyway and there was nothing to play for.  Have to remember that he has been a main part of both Robson and Thelin's reigns as manager.

Motherwell just scored a lovely goal “in transition”.

Won the ball in their box, 3 or 4 quick accurate passes, one end to the other, bang…. Goal.

Everything we have utterly failed to do, pretty much ever, in recent years and certainly under JT when it was supposed to be one of our key tactical approaches.

Get it done Lutz…

He is certainly the candidate whose CV has caught my eye the most.

LP says we want a manager with a knowledge of the Scottish game and thereafter random German coaches are touted with zero knowledge of our game. Mental.
