  1. Right foot ana When he was with us it was for standing on only. And wasn't that great at even doing that
  2. Aye I am confident we will get something out of the game on Sunday ana. Might even be the full 3 points. But Considine must not be played at left back....Forrester will tear him a new one. The only downside if we do win is that come season's end, we might find that those 3 points hugely contributed to helping sevco win their first ever league championship. I pray that doesn't happen.
  3. Both won gold medals in the world athletics championships. It wasn't career ending surgery, If it had been his career would have been ended..... and he wasn't even the first to come back from it. A Yank doubles player....his name escapes me but he has Grand Slams on his CV......came back from it. I think it is great Murray has come back....but his win was in a minor tournament where most of the really top players gave it a miss. I would suggest winning a World Championship gold.....the first one won the 200 metres the second won the decathlon......are altogether bigger achievements
  4. Dina Asher-Smith Katarina Johnson-Thompson there's 2
  5. Campbell is a strange one. I honestly think he is too good to be sent out on loan to the Championship (well maybe to United but doubtful they'd want him) so if here were to be sent out anywhere, to learn anything it would need to be an SPL club. St Johnstone would probably be ideal but they are already starting to get isolated at the bottom of the league and probably feel if they need reinforcements then it would be experienced players required to help get them out of their predicament. Not sure why he comes across as being a bit weak physically. He's 6ft and he most certainly isn't built slightly. I think his problem might be all in his own head.....not sure he is convinced he feels he should be on the same park as certain players yet.....although he as excellent in the away cup replay against sevco last season. Ojo being out for a while should have meant he gets plenty of game time but obviously Mcinnes has spotted he isn't really doing it at present, hence Vyner and Leigh starting at the weekend in his natural position. It worked well but I hope it doesn't become a regular occurrence as it is bound to dent the loon's confidence. A few weeks of coming off the bench, hopefully in sides that are winning might do him good. I remain convinced he will be a first pick in 12 -18 months and might make us a bit of cash somewhere down the line.
  6. I was drinking ginger beer (non alcoholic) this morning Manc! An absolutely fantastic performance by the whole team (bar Logan's now customary brainfart which led to their penalty). As has been said, Leigh was excellent in midfield. Vyner also had his best game in an Aberdeen shirt, scoring a cracker into the bargain. McGinn very good also with a cracking goal and Cosgrove added another million to his value with the best of the lot...what a finish!. But my m.o.m. today was Gallagher who covered every inch of the park and his passing actually seemed to find our own players for a change. I'm not convinced putting the same side out against Celtic would work but on that performance no one deserves to be dropped ( maybe Logan who possibly needs taken out for a few weeks for his own good as well as the team's). But having written next week off as a banker zero points, I'm now cautiously optimistic that we can get something out the game. COYR
  7. If the UK government refuse us a referendum, Sturgeon will just make a Scottish law in Holyrood to hold one anyway. Of course it will hold no status under UK law as it stands....but if it is held and there is a majority for independence, would the Uk government really stop us seceding? For what it's worth I'm not convinced it is quite the right time. In general, folk over 65 are against independence for many reasons, not least having grown up with and lived through times where the NHS was created (or was a very new creation), a welfare state that in its early years worked as it was designed to do and nationalised industries that provided steady secure jobs. That generation will never vote anything other than to stay in the union. But they are slowly dying off. And being replaced by 16 year olds who are altogether far more open to the prospect of independence. So I'd rather hold off another 5 years or so by which time the UK hopefully will have exited the EU and Scotland can see just what a disaster that has been. If we hold it next year I think we would lose along the lines of 52% to 48%. And then we really cannot have another one for a full generation.
  8. Surprisingly optimistic about today considering for the past 2 weeks I would have snapped your hand off if offered a draw. Good that Gleeson is back....I think most of our support have written him off as total gowder in the same way that they did Forrester. He isn't...he's got a good football brain and can play a pass. His only problem is he is slower than a wet weekend in Greenock. Considine has been our most consistent player pretty much for the past 12 months and has done nothing to deserve getting dropped. I do suspect the Devlin will be brought back to partner McKenna in central defence though. If that happens I really hope Considine doesn't get slotted in at left back.....Leigh hasn't been anything more than average but he's still a better option with his pace. Would rather see Wilson get a start in place of McGinn but given he is just returning from injury I don't expect anything other than a bench place for him. Also it's time for Hedges to start producing the goods constently rather than in brief flashes. 0-2 (Cosgrove, McLennan)
  9. I think the vote tomorrow will actually be pretty close......perhaps within 10 votes either way. Naturally the fervent anti-Brexiteers will attempt, and likely succeed, in adding all sorts of amendments prior to the final vote happening. The most obvious one being that they will try to force in a clause subjecting a carried motion on the final deal to a confirmatory referendum. And of course there are still MP's with their heads stuck firmly in the sand demanding further 3 month extensions despite the EU saying themselves that this will not happen. The best thing coming out of tomorrow will be that the Government will finally get their desired wish of a General Election. Labour quite obviously don't want one as a disaffected public take their revenge, especially if sitting Labour MP's in seats that voted leave take the whip tomorrow and vote the agreement down. Whether or not the Tories gain enough seats from Labour down south to gain an overall majority is up for debate though. Especially as they will likely lose 5-7 seats to the SNP in Scotland. And of course the Brexit Party themselves could put a spanner in the Tory works by fielding candidates that split the natural right leaning vote and allow the Lib Dems especially to make gains by default. The only certainty in it all is that Scotland will get its second referendum next year.
  10. It's hardly news though. He made his intentions very clear in August, but as Al has pointed out.....for it to happen needs the agreement of 3 parties and right now the club holds all the cards. The only problem the club has is knowing his "true" value now that he has made it clear he doesn't want to be there. We know that £3million from QPR was turned down. We also know that Villa offered £6.5million a year ago (albeit they wanted him essentially on a free 6 month trial initially and we don't know how they were intending to structure the payment(s). Since then he has missed fair chunks of playing time through injury and suspension, his form could be described as variable in this period so despite making himself Scotland's first choice centre back (when fit), it's unlikely we will receive an offer as good as (potentially) Villa's was again. Personally I'd be telling him that he won't be transferred in January unless we receive an outrageous offer (not beyond the realms of possibility with teams in the Championship looking to bolster their squads for a promotion push or EPL teams near the bottom trying to stave off relegation). However I'd be telling him to inform his agent we would be willing to review things in summer on condition that bidding clubs meet our minimum valuation ( maybe offers over £4.5 million??) AND that they submit their offers early enough to allow us in turn to use some of that cash to bring in an adequate replacement before the window closes. He says that he will give 100% commitment to the club while he is with us and I don't doubt he will. But he wants to be elsewhere. I'd prefer someone who wants to be with us for the journey.
  11. I'll have a pint of whatever you have been drinking chief
  12. I think Anderson has struggled for game time because the "plan" for this season was to see if Wright was or wasn't going to make it with us. As such, he was always going to be behind Cosgrove, Wilson and Wright for a starting place (Main I can only presume was brought in to provide "muscular" cover for Cosgrove in the event Cosgrove suffered an injury or if his stellar 6 months last season proved to be a fluke). Of course that went tits up pretty much straight away when Wright shattered his cruciate....for what it is worth I don't think he would have made it with us anyway. Anderson should be now filling the place that Wright would have taken in games this season. I realise that Anderson is a couple of years younger but at 20 really cant be described as a true "youngster" any more. However if Wilson cannot get any significant game time....even when the squad was down to the bare bones (and when he did get thrown in managed to injure himself ana)…….then it seems clear that Mcinnes for whatever reason has gone down a certain road and that striker wise, Cosgrove is clear first choice (no shit Sherlock) and that Main is the back up option ( ) That being the case, Anderson was always going to struggle to even make matchday squads. He seemed to do okat Dunfermline on loan last season so I cannot fathom why we didn't seek to get him out on loan to a club playing at a slightly higher level than Dunfermline....maybe a St Mirren or the likes (of course we might have tried that and found no one wanted him...we will never know). What is certain is that he isn't going to improve playing reserve team football now, even if the quality of opponent has increased this season. I've seen supporters who claim to know the loon comment that he has no intention of signing a contract extension when his current one runs out as he knows he won't get a chance under McInnes. Seems fair comment. I'm also with Rico in that I suspect he wouldn't prove to be quite good enough to make it with us long term, but right now......I'd sure as fuck rather see him getting the game time that Main has been getting. He certainly couldn't prove to be any worse.
  13. I'm not convinced it will, unless the extreme failure leads to a genuine threat of relegation come late season. His new contract is just too expensive to pay up and employ a new management team on top. Only way to get him out fairly quickly would be for crowds to drop to the 9k mark and stay there for 5 or 6 matches. At that point the club is losing money and would be forced to act
  14. Still don't think Shankland would be any good in our side playing the system we do under McInnes (and that is even presuming he could usurp Cosgrove for the starting place). I've long said the only SPL side where Shankland would be guaranteed to flourish is sevco, where they play a system guaranteed to set him up with plenty of chances in the box. However he would be 3rd choice at absolute best there right now. Hibs might also be somewhere that his game could flourish but they've been so shite up till now it would be difficult to say for sure. Everywhere else (including Celtic) look to their main striker to be more than just an out and out goalscorer. His goalscoring exploits will no doubt attract some attention from south of the border although for sure the clubs down there will also take into account the (shite) level of opposition he is facing week in week out. Scoring against a country who's total population is around the same as that of Dumfries won't really make anyone sit up and notice either. But at a million or so he could be a realistic punt for a lower level Championship club. And I think Sunderland were interested prior to him signing for United (his alleged wages at United are more than a good number of our first team squad are getting). Good luck to the loon whatever happens. But a return to us I very much doubt would ever be on the cards
  15. Shankland gets his first international goal. Latest score Scotland 5 San Marino 0. Pitch is a quagmire, ball sticking in patches. Good chance if it were a domestic match it would get abandoned
  16. Clarke has undoubtedly been hampered by the same raft of squad call-offs that has been commonplace in the past 20 years or so. But I for one never bought into the myth that he did a brilliant job at Kilmarnock. The Edinburgh sides have been dreadful the past couple of years and we, despite being rank rotten last season, still managed to equal their points total. Indeed many of Clarke's squad he inherited anyway. He did ok....but nothing spectacular. I'm sure he is now starting to regret taking on the Scotland job. His preference was always to head back down south where his family reside and where he could pick up a decent coaching or assistant manager job with ease at a decent level. I think he will probably hang on to see if he can get us in the back door to the Euro's via the Nations League playoffs next spring but wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see him walk if we fail to do so. And that could be our best bet of getting shot of DM fairly quickly...he is bound to be the SFA's first choice to replace Clarke if and when he leaves.
  17. Did you really ask if he had photos?? You take weird to new levels min
  18. Don't see us going for Ross. Can absolutely see Hearts going for him though
  19. Fingers crossed on that one. Honestly thought at his age he was holding out for the Hibs job as one final managerial hurrah before heading off to enjoy his retirement. The 2 previous Gothenburg legends that filled our hotseat had at best mixed results (ok Magoo was an unmitigated disaster and Miller very nearly got us relegated in his final season). The expectation that they bring is probably elevated beyond realistic levels but I think at very least Strachan would get us playing in a style that we would enjoy watching. The problem is even if we fired DM next week, I'm not convinced he could get all that great a tune out of the squad we have at present, even if we managed to get them all fit at the one time.....he'd have us top 6 comfortably but it would be next summer before he could really make big enough changes to call the squad "his own" Anyway......we can but hope
  20. Ross becoming available now would surely be too good an opportunity for Hearts to miss out on?
  21. This is exactly what we should be doing (probably deserves a thread of it's own). The SFA/SPFL have got their desired duopoly right now and quite frankly couldn't care less if no other team outwith the arse cheeks wins a league championship for the next 100 years (as none will do under the present sysyem/circumstances). Even cup wins for the provincial clubs will become a rarity as the cheeks become ever financially advantaged over the rest year on year. Of course both Celtic and sevco would fuck off to England or a new European league given the chance (tbh so would we). Provincial club supporters will become increasingly bored with seeing their teams having little to no chance of even winning an occasional cup. Today's youngsters I also believe don't have the "blood of the club running through their veins" that us older ones do and will drift away to other more rewarding pursuits (and likely cheaper ana). Only radical reorganisation of the system to level out the playing field will sustain it long term. Hopefully the SFA will realise this eventually but I don't hold out much hope.
  22. Horrible thought of them cunts winning the league but have to admit that it is certainly a serious possibilty this season. I'd still prefer that sevco and their mutant following remain on precisely 0 major trophies forever but it seems like spending cash they don't have is going to pay dividends as it did for oldco ana
  23. Dreadful performance although amazingly once a goal and a man down it did improve somewhat. However Hibs could and should have been 5 up before Cosgrove equalised, that they weren't was down purely to rank awful finishing by Doidge. Looks like we dodged a bullet last season when we had our offer for him turned down. Even then....Kamberi should have won it for Hibs late on. Main I'm now writing off completely. Tries hard (too hard today) but just not the quality we require. Ferguson must cop a hefty club fine for getting sent off needlessly with a shocking challenge 30 seconds from time. God only knows what our midfield will look like against Motherwell in a fortnight. Gleeson, Campbell, Hedges and Gallacher? Logan was shockingly bad yet again. Vyner isn't great at right back but surely a better bet than Logan in his current form. At least the international break hopefully gives us a chance at getting some of our injured players back. Doubtless Devlin will return injured from Scotland duty and be out until after the January break (how fucking bizarre is it that, at best, our 3rd choice centre half is in the squad). McInnes oot!
  24. Most bets are around the £10 mark but one has slapped £50 on. All in the same branch. And the man himself was spotted in a Stonehaven hotel earlier in the week. Hopefully it's just a guy who's seen him there, put 2 and 2 together and made 5.......then informed all his mates it was a goer who then jumped on the bandwagon Alex Neil I agree would be a decent choice but as it stands he has a job, his club are in the play off positions in the Championship and has a far bigger budget there than we can offer. Preston I'm sure are happy so long as he keeps them away from relegation danger....no pressure to get them promoted. So can't see it happening unless Preston suffer a severe turnaround in fortunes leaving them in danger of the drop and Neil gets the chop. Meanwhile over on Abmad ( i take a look in every few months to cheer myself up) another loon swears blind that the relationship between DM and Cormack is strained and likely broken beyond repair. Says McInnes wants out and will leave at the end of the season. Here's hoping............
  25. Apparently there are quite a number of punters in Aberdeen have laid bets on Derek Adams being next boss over the past few days. If that gype is the answer then it's time a diffeent question was asked
