Summer 2023 Transfer Window Thread

Christ, I must be slipping up now that I've commenced my seventh decade as I started last summer's one back in mid March 2022 much to Rico's annoyance.

Anyway, here goes, the exact date the window will open has yet to be announced but will be at some point in early June meaning we are potentially only just over six weeks away.

If we thought last year's one was busy, then I think its fair to say there is going to be a fair old churn this summer as well.

Difficult to forecast too much at this point given amongst other minor things we don't actually know who'll be in charge next season, but lets not let that stop us speculating too much.

Rumours in the papers suggesting we're still after the lad from Go Ahead Eagles that we came close to signing in January.

There will be all the usual chat about who's leaving and how much we'll rake in in fees, so knock yourselves out and get them fired in here lads.

My thoughts exactly.  Imagine a wavering Teklic comes here just to quickly check Panda is happy before signing on the dotted line, hits the profile image page, thinks "but what if I put up a poor

  • Disgusting. I'll get back to you in May when this thread should be started.

  • Him and his mates are a bit old for the AberDNA Junior tour are they not?

One of the summer's most obvious signings

Matty Kennedy signs on at Rugby Park

Aye, with McInnes also signing a player who would be fantastic if he wasn't permanently injured in Kyle Magennis. Classic Derek.

So we're going to have to pay to get him?

Looks like we've told him to ram it and withdrawn the offer.

Interestingly and rightly or wrongly it further states we have another target lined up and hope to have the deal over the line in next couple of days 🤔

It's good to see we have other targets and we are willing to move on. Pretty sure this has messed us up in the past holding out for players who aren't really interested in coming. With the fact we have a europa league qualifier way before the close of the window we need people who want to join now.

Rumblings online that Idzes has signed for Venezia, a mediocre Seria B team who finished eighth last season

Seems like former board member Hugh Little has a had a stroke. Met him many times, a nice guy. On the plus side, though, the cryptic suggestion here is that Shinnie is in progress.

See Hugh quite regularly, fine guy, always happy to talk fitba.Wish him well.

Wondered if the longer term negotiations might also be the East European guy,(Tokic or whatever his name is)

Seem to be a number of rumours doing the rounds about the health of Craig Brown also.

Somewhat reluctant to put any details up here as still appear to be hearsay at present.

Source today's Daily Retard:

Aberdeen could see some movement on their attempts to sign Graeme Shinnie permanently after Wigan boss Shaun Maloney confirmed he was prioritising getting players out of the cash-strapped club.

Shinnie spent the second half of last season on loan at Pittodrie and they want him back on a three-year deal.

"Now Maloney has said the issue of players wanting to leave needs to be resolved.

There are people who are here who don’t want to be here at the football club.

Anyone who wants to be at another football club, that’s obviously a situation that has to be resolved.

But that’s pretty normal, that was always going to happen this summer, players come and go.

The squad will change, but there will also be a lot of players from last season’s squad that I want to stay."

Aye saw a few rumours myself. Hope they are untrue but he's not getting any younger.

Rhys Williams, Liverpool central defender being strongly linked this morning.

Had assumed this eould be a loan deal but see talk of Liverpool being open to offers to sell. Maybe an opportunity to trade off some of the remaining Ramsay transfer fee ?

Big lad, 6ft 5inches and with over twenty first team appearances including three in the Champions League.

Sounds like one worth pursuing.

He was recently on holiday with Leighton Clarkson, Shayden Morris and Jayden Richardson.

Shay and Jay get a lot of stick, but they might be worth keeping around if they're going to be so helpful with our summer recruitment.

Aye saw that Panda

Could turn out to be their greatest contribution to the club.

If we get Williams, let's hope he turns out to be more Danny Ward/Leighton Clarkson than Ryan McLaughlin 😉

I see some poster on the hat is saying the teklic deal is off. First time poster, so 🤷‍♂️ probably 💩

How McLaughlin managed to convince people he was a footballer was beyond me. Let alone a club like Liverpool. Kudos to him.

Surprised at you Manc 😉

On Twitter but not someone I’ve seen lie before, so will give them the benefit of the doubt for now. They drove past cormack park and saw a number of players with scarves above their head.  Wasn’t sure who 🤷‍♂️ Guess we’ll find out tomorrow if there is any truth in it as I doubt they’d announce anyone this evening given todays events.

He said player singular. Getting us all excited over nothing Manc!

Smart money suggests it's Graeme Shinnie, which is terrific cos without Declan Rice I can't see West Ham being able to handle our midfield next season.

Ffs, so it was. Could have sworn it said players but you’re right. Singular and smart money on shinnie.

Booo

I couldn't sleep last night with excitement as a result of your post 😒

I expect a Shinnie in 31 minutes time or else this pram is losing all its toys.

Was expecting to wake up to it tbf. Maybe they’ll wait for another day with it? Better happen 😂
