Summer 2023 Transfer Window Thread

Christ, I must be slipping up now that I've commenced my seventh decade as I started last summer's one back in mid March 2022 much to Rico's annoyance.

Anyway, here goes, the exact date the window will open has yet to be announced but will be at some point in early June meaning we are potentially only just over six weeks away.

If we thought last year's one was busy, then I think its fair to say there is going to be a fair old churn this summer as well.

Difficult to forecast too much at this point given amongst other minor things we don't actually know who'll be in charge next season, but lets not let that stop us speculating too much.

Rumours in the papers suggesting we're still after the lad from Go Ahead Eagles that we came close to signing in January.

There will be all the usual chat about who's leaving and how much we'll rake in in fees, so knock yourselves out and get them fired in here lads.

My thoughts exactly.  Imagine a wavering Teklic comes here just to quickly check Panda is happy before signing on the dotted line, hits the profile image page, thinks "but what if I put up a poor

Some sources saying Clarkson is coming back to us instead of Reading

Although their source is the Record 🤔

I know reading probably have deeper pockets than us but they are playing in league 1 not the championship. Got to imagine we have a good chance of bringing him in as european football up here must be a bit more appealing. Fingers crossed.

Would be really surprised if Reading are only club in for Clarkson. It will come down to us being able to convince him that playing every week for us and 8 games in Europe is better for his long term career than being a bit part player in the Championship getting paid 3 or 4 times more than we can offer.

Reading are fucked, I doubt they have deeper pockets than us at the moment

Think so as it is being applied for previous misdeeds.

GTF in there.

4 year deal is outstanding bit of business.

That's the best bit of business we have done in a very, very long time.  Last comparable, all things considered, be Nicholas or Gillhaus i would say?

Sell on clause and release fee I’d assume but great business!

keep in mind he’s a good young player, not an internationalist like Charlie or gillhaus. Look at the buzz around Connor Barron when he came into the team and he’s certainly stalled. Let’s not put too much pressure or expectation on the guy. I’d compare him to Lewis Ferguson as he is coming here to play weekly and as a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Yes, Ferguson hadn’t impressed here on loan first, but we were his next step. Smart by clarkson coming here and he’ll play every minute he wants more or less, play in Europe, and we’re a great shop window.

adding shinnie and pollock would be nice, not being greedy!

I got excited and put together a wee showreel to let the rest of Europe know what they're missing out on.

Wow,had my doubts, but a 4 year deal is superb business. Wonder how much we paid for him...

  Welcome aboard Leighton

Phenomenal bit of business, and a four year deal makes it even sweeter. Robson not only a good manager, but a world class salesman too. I can't think of a comparable signing. Severin along the same lines, in that we got him after a great season at hearts, but not nearly as talented as Clarkson. Nicholas probably the last player we knew was top level before signing him. I don't remember much fanfare around Gillhaus, until he played his first game.

Would imagine there is more likelihood of Shinnie & Scales, rather than Shinnie & Pollock to be honest.

Clarkson, permanent, 4 year deal, fucking hell.

Absolutely brilliant news to be waking up to. I know there’s been plenty of rumours that he was signing on 15th June but still. Four fucking years, superb. Just superb. Welcome aboard (permanently) Clarkson!

Seal of approval.

I got quite excited when Booth returned from his European adventures, and we did get one good season out of him.

All the papers are running with a "heres a list of Aberdeens most expensive signings", which makes me wonder just how much we paid Liverpool for him.

Based on what we  have seen so far it’s a good investment!

I will add, but disappointed he didn’t arrive with a black hat on and leather trench coat. Thought we’d signed bono that day. Don’t remember what it was like when we signed gillhaus, I don’t think it was a big deal as we hadn’t really heard on him.

hard to compare, is the return of Jess a decent comparison? Hrs thing is most return he’s having not achieved great success. Clarkson returns having played a blinder of a season, scored cracking goals, and signs permanently from liverpool of all people. Almost impossible to give a comparison but certainly exciting.
