Dons managed a 2-1 win, with Jocky Scott scoring the winner.

Paul Hegarty scored for them.

 

Also on this day in 1961, a certain Neil Simpson was born.

On this day in 1986, Aberdeen appointed Ian Porterfield to replace Fergie.

It didn't work out.

On this day in 1992, Aberdeen recorded their biggest-ever away win when they thrashed Partick Thistle 7-0 at Firhill. The scoreline was equalled on 31st March 2017 at Dens Park.

The game had been rescheduled after the original was abandoned. I believe it was the famous incident when a member of the Firhill ground staff tried to clear snow off the pitch with a broken broom.

I was at the abandoned game but couldn't make the rearranged one.

Was at both. Always felt that players were pissed off about way Thistle pissed about pretending to try and  clear the pitch and took the frustrations out on them in replay. 
 

Was at 7-0 over Dundee as well.

Was that the season we just about got relegated til we beat Hibs on the last day? He fairly turned it round the following season...

We finished 7th, on goal difference. St Johnstone were adrift at the bottom, with both Dundee clubs below us on goal difference. 

It was indeed a 3-0 win on the final day, against Hibs, that kept us safe. 

Was it two teams from 10 that were relegated back then?

Yes Dundee relegated along with St Johnstone.

Ah,I thought that season was still the old first division,premier league the following.
