  1. Anyone know how I can 'help' a pub landlord in Kos to show this game on Thursday??
  2. Excellent news! This is like a new signing! If we had lost him we would really have struggled next season. A great goalkeeper the likes we have not seen since Snelders. Kjaer was a good keeper and Leighton too when he came back but there have been very few great keepers in the last 20+ years. As a (retired) goalkeeper and defender myself, goalkeepers are so often overlooked but are one of the most important positions on the field! They stop goals, they organise and give confidence to the defence, they start attacking moves etc. etc.
  3. We really do have some severe recruiting/promoting to do. From last seasons 1st team squad, which is still on the AFC website, we have lost: Neil Alexander Johnny Hayes Ryan Jack Aaron Lennox Niall McGinn Joe Nuttall Peter Pawlett Lawrence Shankland Cammy Smith Ash Taylor That is 10 players from a 27 man squad. I appreciate that 3 of these guys were out on loan and Joe Nuttall didn't really feature, if at all in fact but the rest of these players make up a training squad. Based on our squad list from last season we have: Christie Considine Harvie Lewis Logan McKenna McLean O'Connor Reynolds Rogers Rooney Ross Shinnie Stockley Storey Storie Wright Plus Tansey From the young players that were out on loan I can see McKenna and Rogers being definite replacements in the squad.
  4. Surely with the news that Derek and Tony AND Paul Sheerin are staying, sales will rocket now? If we get a couple of decent signings in the next week or so, I envisage us to be back up to 10k+ before the season starts. #inderekwetrust
  5. https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/aberdeen-fc/dave-cormack-want-keep-derek-mcinnes-dons/ If these words are true, and I don't see why the new director would be allow to say such things if they weren't, then it is much more positive and here's hoping Deek will be here for at least one more season to guide us through the rebuilding required.
  6. I see Jack Grimmer has parted ways with Fulham. Worth a look?
  7. Great Dandie gathering at the Rock last night, shame about the twats on the roof of the flats next door lobbing eggs! Hope the polis eventually got the wee rats!
  8. I'm never going back. ^^ This
  9. ^^ Agree with this entirely. Rooney has had a poor season by his standards and has missed a lot of good chances but has still scored 20. He has just looked low in confidence, he has been getting himself in the right place at the right time but has lacked the confidence to make the killer touch. Stockley seems to be better at making a nuisance of himself but is nowhere near the quality of Rooney when it come to scoring or being in the right place at the right time.
  10. i thought O'Connor was one of our best players on Friday night. He brought a strength to our midfield and was composed on the ball. He broke down so much of Celtics play. He also tracked back well and helped in defence. Well played loon.
  11. Might try and make it along for a bit of scran and a sing song!
  12. Can't find any stats to back it up but surely Kenny MacLean must be up there as one of the most fouled players in the Premiership?
  13. Thistle are putting on free buses for all that want to travel up. I suspect there will be around 1,000 of them. It is a massive game for them as they don't get to semi finals very often. They have also just won their last 4 matches and kept clean sheets so their fans will be buzzing.
  14. One of my first thoughts after the game yesterday after relief at winning was, thank goodness we won that because now I won't sound like a bitter loser when I complain about how terrible Andrew Dallas was. He failed to give free kicks for constant fouls on MacLean, Jack and Christie. When he did concede and give fouls he failed to give advantage and pulled play back on more than one occasion when the Dons were in a good attacking position. He failed to give at least one penalty to the Dons when Stockley had his shirt completely ripped down to his belly bottom! He nearly missed the head clash between Salmon and Considine. He gave a foul against Shinnie when it was Shinnie that was fouled. He was giving fouls to Killie that were either very soft or just not fouls at all. One in particular sticks out. I think it was Reyolds that slid in perfectly from behind but to one side and caught the ball perfectly and the man went over the top of his legs after. No contact with the back of Killie players legs, he just went over the top of the Dons defenders legs. Perfect tackle and Dallas gave a foul! It was in a dangerous position too. He booked one of the Killie players for taking too long over a free kick (fair play) but then a few minutes later, when Kris Boyd was flagged for offside and the whistle had blown and Boyd had stopped, Boyd kicked the ball past the keeper into the net (from outside the box) wasting more time - no booking or warning?!? The Dons did not play well yesterday - they were too slow and didn't cause killie enough problems but the referee did not help matters.
  15. We beat Partick Thistle 7-0 at Firhill in 92/93 season in a replayed match (just like this) after the original was abandoned due to heavy snow. We were leading 2-0 after 55 minutes when the ref abandoned it on the Saturday and then we replayed on the Tuesday or Wednesday and thumped them 7-0. I was there for both in the old shed - beautiful!!
  16. Ok I believe someone has told you he is not a hun. If that is the case, were they suggesting he is something else i.e. the other side of the unwashed? Or is he just a Morton man with no ties to either of the ugly sisters?
  17. Pray tell Big Al, with what knowledge can you substantiate this claim? (I really hope you are right )
  18. https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/aberdeen-fc/aberdeen-boss-derek-mcinnes-breaks-silence-rangers-job-rumours/ Not really rock solid commitment to the club but still quite good to hear him break the silence and state he is only interested in Aberdeen.
  19. Can't go afterall, Mrs is away and no babysitters! Hope its a brilliant game and the Dons win, at least that way it'll take my mind off the disapointment of not going and I can look forward to the next round!
  20. How much are the international monthly and annual subscriptions? I can only see the UK ones which are £5.99 and £59.99 respectively. I would be interested in paying for a subscription if i can get the IP address sorted. Happy to watch it for free obviously but not if it is really sh*t quality - I would rather pay a bit to guarantee decent quality.
  21. Great news if it happens, Derek McInnes has been quoted as saying it won't happen in the next 48hrs but he is hopeful of getting tied up. McInnes is not the sort of guy to say something if he didn't believe it to be happening. I suspect there will be a buy out clause in the contract and that way it will benefit both parties - Hayes gets a pay rise and Aberdeen get more money if they do sell him.
  22. Anyone got an idea of how many tickets we will be likely to get for this match? Thinking of taking a road trip up from Killie but not sure if I'll definitely get a ticket. I would imagine there will be a decent demand for tickets and given the stadium only holds 6,500, I'm concerned I might struggle.
  23. I don't believe AOC was not dropped, I was under the impression he went off injured in the cup final.
