  1. Yeah he is good but we would have to pay for him, so not likely to happen. McGovern is a free agent at the end of the season unless he has a get out clause in his contract for relegation.
  2. Heard on the BT Sport coverage that Michael McGovern is out of contract at the end of the season. He has been a thorn in our side many a time and he is one of the best in the SPFL, certainly better than Scott Brown. I think he would be worth offering a contract. All we have is Brown and young Rogers coming back. I think we would want two top level keepers.
  3. Anyone know if the game is on Red TV tonight? I haven't seen anything saying it is. Quite fancy seeing some of the fringe players in action.
  4. Thomsod you are right that if he had kept his legs shut he would've saved that shot but as all goalkeepers and good strikers know this is an unavoidable weak spot for goalkeepers as they need to spread their legs to give them more balance and as you rightly said make themselves bigger. It is all about reducing the time it takes for them to get a hand or a foot to the ball if it is shot to one side of them. Standing legs shut is asking for the ball to be hit to one side giving the striker a choice and a bigger target. It is still difficult to stick a powerful shot right between the keepers legs as was shown later in the game when Ward got his foot in the way to block a shot.
  5. I have been very impressed with Goodwillie (on the field) in the European games this season and by all accounts he played very well at Raith too. For a striker who is not scoring many goals it is very easy to pull the trigger at the slightest sight of goal but he has been extremely unselfish by setting up MacLean in Croatia and also Hayes at Pittodrie. He could easily of had a shot himself for both of these goals, especially at Pittodrie where he had done all the hard work. It shows a mature football head thinking of the team around him rather than personal glory. I couldn't care less if he only scores 5 goals this season as long as he lays it on a plate for his colleagues!
  6. See this match is going to be shown on Premier Sports at 15.45 on Thursday. I'm delighted as I subscribed before the last round so will get to watch it plus they have upgraded their channel to HD - bonus!
  7. The AFC website says 17.00 KO on Thursday which is better. Hopefully on Premier Sports again as I have subscribed to that and it is now HD too!!
  8. Can anyone tell me if there is an easy way to get the fixtures onto my android phone calendar?
  9. I happen to think Langfield is a far better keeper than Brown. Brown has made a few decent stops this season but has also made a number of mistakes. I felt he should have been dropped after the semi final and after Saturday I feel McInnes has to give Langfield another shot. It is only fair and a bit of competition for places can only be a good thing. I know Langfield has made mistakes in the past but so have all the best keepers. Langfield has pulled off some incredible saves in the past too. It should also be noted that the defence in front of Brown is far better than previous seasons. A new keeper in the summer has to be a priority and one with a proven track record!
  10. I wonder how much we have agreed on if Fleetwood offered £150,000 and were told it was "way short of the club's valuation" "St Mirren have rejected an offer for former Scotland Under-21 midfielder Kenny McLean from Fleetwood Town. The Scottish Premiership club said on their website that "the offer does not come close to the club's valuation of the player". They also revealed that on-loan winger Adam Drury has returned to parent club Manchester City. League One outfit Fleetwood are believed to have offered £150,000 for 22-year-old McLean."
  11. St Mirren have accepted an offer from Aberdeen for Kenny McLean and the midfielder is to have a medical with the Pittodrie club. Should he agree personal terms, he will sign a three-and-half year contract. The 23-year-old, capped at Scotland Under-21 level, is a product of the Paisley club's youth system and signed a two-year contract extension in July. That followed speculation he was likely to move to England, with a bid from Fleetwood Town rejected in January. McLean has made 29 appearances this season, scoring seven goals. More recently he has been utilised as an emergency striker by manager Gary Teale in the absence through injury of captain Steven Thompson.
  12. Interesting Blog. What would be an excellent addition to this would be to see how Celtic compare in the second part of the season, maybe also United.
  13. He has also been in the Scotland U18's so that shows he is no mug.
  14. Can anyone show me the stats on the Dons for live televised matches. I cannot remember the last time we won a match in front of the cameras?!? We seem to bottle it every time. Lets hope that hoodoo is put to bed on Sunday! Hibs are just as bad as, if not worse than, us at the moment so fingers crossed we can get revenge for last years semi final defeat. I am a bit down about our current form but panicking (yet!) we are still within touching distance of Motherwell and ICT. League position is not important now, it is how we finish at the end of the season that matters. As long as McGinn continues to score goals, that will breed confidence throughout the rest of the team and hopefully big Vernon can get amongst the goals too. There is nothing better than having strikers scoring goals for a teams confidence. It is great when midfielders chip in but not the same as having a 20-25 goals a season striker which McGinn is heading for.
  15. This has got to be one of the most unmentioned matches ever. I hope the players are more focused than the media and the fans. Anyway, I'm well looking forward to it as I have never been to Somerset Park and I love terracing. I am getting bored of going to Motherwell etc all the time. They should increase the SPL to 16 teams or at the very least make it 2 up and 2 down. The league needs a bit of life injected into it. The fans and the players are bored of playing the same teams ALL the time. Anyone else going? Think I will be in the Horseshoe Bar which is about 5/10 mins from the ground.
