  1. A few folk saying we don't really need Scales or another left sided CB. What we need to remember is that this is the first time Aberdeen have EVER had 8 guaranteed European ties to play before Christmas. This is like adding roughly 20% to the number of matches to your season (give or take depending upon success in domestic cups) but in reality it is more than that as you have travel and the intensity of the matches to take into account. This is why you need a big squad to cope with injuries, fatigue and poor form. Hearts suffered badly at the start of last season when they were playing in Europe and they ran out of puff at the end of the season too. This is why it is key that we put together a big squad that is not just made up of journeymen. Scales would be exactly the sort of player we need.
  2. We beat the huns 2-0 last time we played them at Pittodrie!
  3. We should not be accepting anything less than £2m with add ons from a Seria A team. If they rate him as good enough to play for them in that league, he is worth at least that. Also the fact that he is a mainstay in our team and we would struggle to replace him and we already have a very difficult summer ahead of us to rebuild the squad. As AB said, we will be difficult to deal with. We have to show we mean business.
  4. Charles Dunne spotted at Hampden in a Dons top yesterday. Even if he was just there supporting his best mate, I'd be raging if I was a buddie.
  5. See Hearts and struggling for players and are looking to fill a couple of longer term positions due to injury. One of said is a central defender. I would offer them Bates on loan. It gets him game time, pays some/all of his wages and means he can't play against us!
  6. I was praying for this fixture when the draw was made! I love a 'new' ground, really looking forward to it and the weather is to be nice! IN Working then driving from Killie Away end Driving down south for work 4-0 Dons Miovski x2, McCrorie and Richardson.
  7. When I was on holiday, I could'nt get Red TV International (I.e. Live match coverage) as a UK subscriber. That is something the club should look at. Sky sports (SkyGo) is the same - doesn't allow you to watch outside the UK!
  8. Ooft, not a bad prediction! You got our number of goals and two of the scorers right!
  9. Absolutely delighted to get Annan away! That was the tie I wanted. It'll be tough but it is another new ground for me, which aside from winning, is what the cup is all about for me. So bored of Celtic Park, Fir Park etc.
  10. This. I noticed at Stirling and again today that there were a number of passes coming up short.
  11. All group winners qualify. Best 3 runners up qualify. 3 best group winners qualify seeded. Current best group winners are: Dundee 12 points +11 goals Arbroath 12 points +9 goals Ross County 11 points +10 goals Current best runners up are: Killie 10 points +8 goals Livingston 9 points +3 goals QoS 8 points +4goals Currently we are on 9 points with +9 goals. Lose tomorrow, we qualify unseeded. Draw tomorrow and lose on pens, we qualify unseeded. Draw tomorrow and win on pens, we qualify unseeded. Win tomorrow we qualify seeded.
  12. According to FootballScotland ourselves and Ipswich are interested in Liam Boyce. Wouldn't mind him but the good thing about it would leave Hearts with very few options up front! https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/liam-boyce-reacts-hearts-transfer-24453144?utm_source=taboola&utm_medium=exchange&tblci=GiA-HezHOFD166O362SVxygrWXsFsdd4pPBy648cTce-RCDi3kUov9ee-pf6toJt#tblciGiA-HezHOFD166O362SVxygrWXsFsdd4pPBy648cTce-RCDi3kUov9ee-pf6toJt
  13. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/declan-gallagher-st-mirren-back-27328411 Looks like deal is back on and Gallacher should be signing for Motherwell.
  14. I used to be a goalkeeper when I was younger, not to any great level, but enough to know the basics. I have also watched and played in many an amateur match and I can say, hand on heart, that display at Rugby Park by Bossu was, without doubt, THE worst I have ever seen from a goalkeeper. I love the comparison to Hen Broon running about! So true! #likeanewborngiraffe
  15. The offence taken! I do think you have missed my point though. I'm not saying that a good player makes a good manager. What I am saying is that a player who has the experience of being part of a big club, is used to the pressures involved, whereas Goodwin has only ever played and managed at clubs where they were not expected to win every week. There is a difference. Obviously like everything in life, there are exceptions to the rule. Jose Mourinho being the classic.
  16. I would much rather someone like Paul Lambert. He has the experience of playing and managing at a very high level. Jim Goodwin has not played at or managed a big club. I know we are not Celtic, Rangers or Liverpool etc. But in Scottish terms, we are way above St. Mirren and Alloa. I don't mean that as a disrespectful comment to them. They may be better than us this season but they have nowhere near the same fan base and there is not the same level of pressure to win every week. Goodwin will not be used to dealing with that. I think that is why managers that have played at top clubs often do well at bigger clubs, they are used to the pressure involved. We need a steady the ship appointment in my opinion. I would argue that Jack Ross would be better as he has at least played and managed at a higher level. Whoever they decide on, they will have my support! Stand Free!
  17. Speaking to a Celtic acquaintance, he said that the boy Montgomery is a real good player in the making and that he is mot of a winger that was put at left back to get him a place in the team. That is music to my ears because we need attacking options.
  18. Fair point but I think Scott Brown is definitely a selling factor to a lot of players i.e. if he can choose Abwrdeen over Celtic, it can't be a bad place to play.
  19. I don't think we are any worse off than before the window. Hedges was very good, when he turned up but that was only every 3-4 matches. Hopefully the Dutch boy will give us similar, if not better. We also have Matty Kennedy coming back, whom I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt. People are very quick to assume a player is not performing at training when he has long term recurring injuries. My biggest beef is that we were lacking before the window in certain areas - creative attacking players no.10 in particular and another goalscoring centre forward. I think we can survive with our defence and midfield but the problem is we are being outscored. If you look at our goals against column and the run of defeats we had, we are not conceding a lot of goals and didn't get hammered by anyone in our games we lost this year, so far. It is a very fine line. If we can start scoring more goals, then I believe people will very quickly realise our defence isn't that bad. The more goals you score the more it breeds confidence in the team and the less likely opposition teams will play attacking football in our half. Or they won't sit in because we've scored against them and they have to come out to equalise and in turn leave more gaps. Our biggest problem in the last 3-4 years has been breaking teams down. We used to be a free scoring team in the first few years under DM. Then we lost Hayes, McGinn and Rooney and it was downhill from there. If we don't get the centre forward and creative players we need this summer then the director of football and recruitment etc have to go. I don't blame Glass yet. I think he and Russel etc. are trying to do the right things but they don't have the creativity they need. I am disappointed but I am not giving up on this season yet. Let's see how the new lads do and how the players returning from injury get on. Remember we still have Watkins, who I actually rate better than Hedges.
  20. Who is posted at Dyce Airport today? Anyone watching Cormack Park and Pittodrie? Clock is ticking! There has to be signings, I just hope they are not too underwhelming! I don't mind if I have not heard of a player, as long as he is a position we badly need, I.e. striker and attacking midfield (no.10)
  21. This happens all the time, these are professional footballers we are talking about. They are looking out for themselves and their families. If he knocked us back with our first offer, so what. Aberdeen is very different to Edinburgh, if you have family roots in the central belt. I am not sure if he has a wife and kids yet but if he does then that comes into it. Plus who wouldn't wait and see what other offers get put on the table? If he comes great, if he chooses Hibs, well fuck him, he will continue to be an opposition team player!!
  22. I agree he has not shown us anything to justify his transfer but I don't agree with calling him a prick! He has done or said anything, to my knowledge to merit that.
  23. He played most of last season in the Dutch top league which is arguably better than our top league.
