  1. I know he has his doubters but for me Andy Considine is a player I would have as one of the first on the team sheet every week! He gives his all, he is a leader on the park and versatility between left back and centre half is a great thing to have. For a big lad, he gets up and down the line and has a great cross on him. He has dedicated his career to AFC and what I'd like to say is, what does he have to do to deserve the Don's fans singing 'He's one of our own?' He really is one of our own always has been and always will be. Stand Free Andy!
  2. Started this one early but I noticed that Alan Power is suspended due to a red card but Gary Dicker has had 8 yellow cards in the SPFL this season and he hasn't missed a single minute of football. Can anyone shed any light on this? The SFA protocols are such that a player should serve a 1 match ban after 6 yellow cards. The ban applies 14 days after the date of his 6th yellow. In the case of Dicker, his 6th yellow was against Celtic on 22/1/20. 14 days after that was 5th Feb. He has not missed a game. He has since been booked twice. I cannot see anything about him being suspended. Anyone got any ideas? It would be great if both Dicker and Power were suspended for our match. They are the driving force behind Killie.
  3. I don't see what's wrong with Aurora? It literally means 'a new dawn' which this is for the club and the double meaning of sounding like 'Don'! I would never vote for any name of a person or business. I hate stadiums that are named like that. Nothing wrong with honouring a past chairman, manager or player by naming a suite or even stand after them but the name of the stadium has to unique like Pittodrie, Tynecastle or Tannadice etc.
  4. As long as the club have a budget for him, I'm happy for him to stay. I know he hasn't scored goals but he has created goals and works his socks off for the team. #keepstevie
  5. I actually ended up shouting at Ojo, I agree with Liam MacLeod, he was not good. The number of times he played passes short or to opposition players was ridiculous. He looked well off the pace. I don't think he's a bad player, just think his sharpness wasnt there at all. The thing is to someone watching wanting him to do well, they could be mistaken for thinking it's the players he's passing to that are at fault but in actual fact he was making work for his team mates that was not necessary! Hopefully a cooler Pittodrie next week and another weeks training under their belt, the whole team will be less jaded!
  6. All this paper talk about how we are going to be playing in the scorching heat! It's to be 23oC there and 26oC in Glasgow!
  7. Fair play McInnes 4 wingers! Going for it and it is working! COYR!!
  8. It is an interesting question! When we had Hates and McGinn playing on top form, we played a system where we attacked teams down the flanks and it was very entertaining to watch. Since we lost both of them (I know McGinn is back) we lost our width and became a more defensive 1 up front long ball team. Hopefully this new full back and winter can give us more width along with Wright finally showing what he can do on a consistent basis. It has the makings of an exciting system! "It's the hope that kills us!"
  9. Lewis was not taken off because we had several players playing on the edge - Shinnie, Logan and Stewart were all carrying injuries or just back from injury so they kept Lewis on as long as they could in case any of the others completely crumpled. It was a high risk strategy but it worked.
  10. I have to take exception to Bossu even being mentioned in the same thread as Joe Lewis, Jim Leighton, Theo Snelders, Peter Kjaer John Burridge etc. Bossu is THE worst goalkeeper I have ever seen (claiming to be a goalkeeper) in my life. I include amateur level in that comment. He was dreadful. I remember watching us play Killie one day and he was lucky not to concede 10. I think we lost 3-0 or 4-0. He was rank. I don't say things like that lightly either. There are a lot of people on here that like to post extreme comments about various things, however, I would describe myself more as a devils advocate and see both sides or most arguments. With this, there is no argument and I will not hear otherwise!! phew, rant over. Sorry, you touched a nerve Seebass!
  11. Burridge was a decent stand in ana….mad as a box of frogs but never let us down I loved Budgie, I remember a night at Firhill, it was pishing it down and they let the Aberdeen supporters who were in the open terrace (they had closed the shed as they were building the Jackie Husband Stand) go in under the main stand in the old enclosure, he was on brilliant form and we had a great bounce. Score was 1-1.
  12. This is brilliant news! He is the best keeper we have had since Snelders (arguably as good or better). At best we get a brilliant goalkeeper for the next 5 years and at worst we sell him in a year or two for a 7 figure sum. He could easily play in the English Premier League. He makes world class saves regularly and makes VERY few mistakes. How many of the keepers in the Premier League could claim that? Not many, I would suggest! Joe, Joe, Super Joe!
  13. From the sound of the Cardiff City fans comments, he is like Considine. Dependable, nothing fancy, just does the job asks of him.
  14. YAWN! can we get back on topic please gents. Anyone got any news/rumours? What happened with the Shaughnessy offer? Is he still considering his options? I reckon he's a replacement for Reynolds.
  15. This probably won't go down well and I know this replay is not good for our league campaign, however, I missed the game in 1995 (Not a bad thing in hindsight) and I was gutted as I love going to 'new' grounds, especially old terraced stadiums. I am always disappointed when we get a draw at home or away to hearts, Dundee, falkirk, Livingston, St. Mirre n etc. I'm looking forward to next week and I was oddly (bitter/sweet) happy that Saturday was a draw! I love the atmosphere of an away tie especially in the terracing shed. I miss those days. I think we will win and win comfortably. Stenhousemuir, by all accounts, deserved a replay but I feel we will be too strong for them second time round. COYR
  16. How delighted am I to be able to start this topic!?! I have checked the previous fixtures and no-one has more than one booking so we don't have any suspensions for the final this time!
  17. Can anyone tell me the last time Aberdeen had 4 players in the Scotland squad? 1980what? I'm sure some folk will have something negative to say but I'm just going to be proud and enjoy it!
  18. Especially after Steven Naismith of Hearts and Alan MacGregor of Rangers BOTH not being cited for kicking out at opposition players when the video footage is there for all to see! I am not sure Devlin will get off with this to be honest. I am not 100% sure what the rules are exactly. My understanding is, that you can't look at an incident and say he was fouled first (common sense I know ). I think the review will be solely based on - did Devlin foul Brophy - yes or no? If it is not clear that he didn't (which in my opinion it is not) then the red card will be upheld. It has to be clear that there has been an error on the referees part (with regards to the foul by Devlin), if it is not a clear error then they won't rescind it. Absence of proof of foul play is not a reason to rescind. You would like to think common sense will prevail and they will rescind it but I am not overly confident in the SFA judicial panel's ability to see common sense!
  19. Fair point - we do have plenty of midfielders now. The only thing I can think of, if this story is true - McGinn goes up front and Gauld comes in as a wide player?
  20. There has been a lot of doom and gloom about our strikers the past six months. Rooney is NOT done. May is NOT a bad striker. It was no real surprise that when Hayes and McGinn left our goals dried up. We had NO width last season and therefore our strikers had very poor Service. Our priority HAS to be quality wide players (i believe we eill get a good season out of McGinn as he has had a rest this summer and he will do a goid pre-season and be raring to go, so perhaps just one wide player required. Next priority is a proper left back. I love Considine but he just doesn't have the pace to be a full back. May was carrying and injury for a large part of last season and it showed in his fitness. Hopefully with the lay off and a good pre-season, he too will be fit and raring to go. COYR!!
  21. Hope you get better soon Seabass. Your fellow Dandies are here for you! Stand Free!
  22. Well done Rooney. First class and he's scored a lot more than Doddsy in each of those 4 I suspect!!
  23. Just wondering what the new stadium will actually be called. At the moment it is Kingsford Stadium, as that is what is on the planning make ups. I quite like Aurora! It means 'new dawn' which is appropriate and it plays on the Dons nickname! I really like how our stadium is one of the most quirky names in Scotland, in that it is not named after a team or town or area. Aurora would keep that tradition. Definitely not up for 'Aberdeen Arena' or any exhibition centre type name like that! No doubt it will end up being named after a sponsor to raise funds to pay for construction!
  24. Actually I say tattie! Never heard of tattle before though!?!
