The AI stuff scares me though, a seemingly intelligent friend was recently fooled by something mindbogglingly ridiculous because of how genuine it appeared. I couldn’t even take the piss as I was so horrified. its like a new toy now, will hopefully die a death soon enough Edited Sunday at 18:03 by OneBrianIrvine. Quote

Jute Posted Sunday at 22:12 Report Posted Sunday at 22:12 Boca Juniors v Racing Club on premier sports 2 just now if anyone hasn’t sat watching enough football today. Some atmosphere at the game. Quote
Jute Posted Sunday at 23:19 Report Posted Sunday at 23:19 Pretty flat game so far. Neither side creating much in the way of chances. Not sure I am going to stay up for 2nd half. Quote
Jute Posted Monday at 00:09 Report Posted Monday at 00:09 Finished 0-1 to Racing meaning Boca finish season trophy less. Second half was bit better. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted Wednesday at 21:51 Report Posted Wednesday at 21:51 (edited) Didn’t realize Zac Vyner was a team mate of Ross McCrorie at Bristol City. Don’t remember much about him while he was at us, would take McCrorie back in a heartbeat, a shinnie devlin type. Edited Wednesday at 21:51 by OrlandoDon Quote

He was a decent player, lacking a bit of experience and sure he got injured and returned to Bristol, about half way through the season. If I remember correctly, he scored a cracker of a goal for us. I think McCrorie has been linked to EPL clubs, so unlikely he would be back anytime soon. More likely he'd end up back with the zombie outfit. Quote

He was immense for about 4 seasons. Best keeper in Scotland during that time. Quote

He should have got a testimonial off that back of that. A shame it never worked out for him. Looked a real prospect when we first signed him, but had no luck with injuries. Quote

Considine was a much better all round player who was still getting underrated by our own support even at that point. Even without injury, I reckon Devlin would have struggled with us. About Ash Taylor level of fitba'r, but withoot the long legs and relative pace (bit harsh, perhaps, Devlin did read the game well, I'd probably put him just below Mark Reynolds who also struggled on the ball). Just below Mark Reynolds? Havers. Reynolds was head and shoulders above. First couple of seasons with us he was fantastic. Season we won the cup he should have been capped for Scotland IMO. IIRC he made the PFA team of the year as well as our player of the year. He was never quite the same after his various injuries but for a spell he was bloody outstanding. Quote

In my opinion, neither were as good as Considine, as they both struggled to advance the game as they weren't comfortable footballers (comparatively speaking, of course). Neither liked taking it in difficult positions, and both were very safe defenders in that they would put the ball out of play or punt it long more often than not. I probably shouldn't have said that I didn't rate Devlin, I meant that I didn't rate him in the way I would have Anderson or McKenna (and probably Milne actually). I didn't think he would have gone on to big things but for injury. He reached a good level and that was his level. Similarly Reynolds' peak was the Dons, which is no bad thing. 1 Quote

I know I’m definitely in the minority but I just didn’t get it with considine. Fans favorite, die hard don etc, but he was a liability quite often to me. He was an all or nothing guy, definitely committed to the cause, and had to over commit because of his lack of pace. made so many mistakes. he always came across as a really nice guy and sounded(s) quite intelligent, but I always thought he was a very low IQ player who gave away so many unnecessary fouls and penalties. He was a typical low IQ footballer who dove in/got stuck in and tackled/fouled when quite often he didn’t need to and should have been smarter. as for reynolds, class. Tobers reminds me of devlin, looks good but maybe not the most mobile/athletic. And injuries. Quote

Of course he had shit games, but he was immense in plenty others and he played enough. We also had some real shite in our back four for a lot of his time. I reckon he would have done a great job at any other team in Scotland including either of the the bigot brothers. He was never a left back, but in most games he played at left back he did a sterling job and was only usually found wanting when up against serious pace, but he was fine for the most part in the league. I get we all have differing opinions, but we really never signed much better defenders than Andy Considine during his time with us. 3 Quote
wee toon red Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago (edited) Andy Considine is a proper hero. A fan who grew up to play over 400 games for the club, even winning a trophy. And topping it all off with a Scotland debut at Hampden, at the age of 33, helping the team to a clean sheet in a meaningful game. Seems to be a genuinely good guy and a hugely loyal servant who played wherever his manager asked him to. He's basically the manifestation of the dreams of every kid who grew up wanting to play for the Dons. Edited 8 hours ago by wee toon red 3 Quote
OneBrianIrvine. Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago (edited) Andrew Consi Considine - bloody love the guy, second only to Brian Irvine for me in terms of being heartbroken when they left the club. As weetoonred said - he was us. Us on the pitch. When Aberdonians /local loons at the club were rarer than hens teeth and we’d mostly a revolving door of lower league English shite (and managers) he felt like the only connection I had to the club at times. He was my lode star. Edited 7 hours ago by OneBrianIrvine. 2 Quote

Armstrong,Lobban and Milne,(Shinnie to a lesser extent these days) keep the link going 1 Quote
