I just don’t see another central midfielder coming in, with shinnie sivert Clarkson polvara palaversa gueye kjarten and adil, I think we are covered, unless one or two move on.

I think you could be right, I just think it'd be a big mistake. Gueye and Adil aren't midfielders, as such. They'd play number 10 for us, in front of the midfield. Polvara doesn't do the running required of a number 8. Really, Shinnie is the only one with real work rate in there, and we generally suffered against better teams when he was at left back. Palaversa might step up, maybe, but it's a risk. He didn't manage to play past the hour mark in the latter part of the season (magnificent effort in the final aside), and would regularly start the second half of game already done. Whilst we appear to be overloaded in midfield, we're still missing a function. I guess we could give it until January. It's the pain in the arse that is Europe that makes it such an issue - one that is gone by January.

We got a left back didn't we?

We definitely need a box to box midfielder. The games where Shinnie did the most work were the games we were most successful in I'd say. Clarkson looks to be more and more likely to put in a shift and cover some serious yards, but we need the legs of Shinnie two years ago, or Ramadani, to give us that extra lift in the middle of the park. A striker is imperative. Once again, though, we need to see some faces out the door too. Vinnie, Ambrose, Rubi, Jensen R, maybe even Duncan. Make space for some of the new duds that come from a summer of signings!

I did the stadium tour yesterday and in the home dressing room each player had his own named place but there wasn't any mention of Ambrose, Rubi, Jensen R. but  Vinnie's was still there.  Make of that what you will.

Do we need a left-back? We have Gyamfi, and both Shinnie and Jensen can and have played there.

You are of course correct, I keep forgetting about him, given we signed a fair few early doors. Guess it comes down to Shinnie time management as I’d imagine he’ll have a reduced presence in the starting XI. But given the way Thelin likes to play, we’ll need a good squad.

Firstly, that's a worse deal than what Udinese offered in January when they tested Motherwell with a £2.5m offer.

Secondly, if Como are interested in him, then the wages they'll offer Miller would far outweigh what we could. They have just spent £17m on Nicolas Kuhn.

Thirdly, on a similar note, could Motherwell afford the wages of Polvara and Jensen? And it'd be two players who haven't really proven themselves at Premiership level so what's in it for Motherwell - they lose their best player for only £1.5m, and get two players on high wages who might only be average at best for them.

Like I said, highly unlikely/impossible, but I’ll pick holes at your response. I just wonder if we ever look at transfers this way. We have a player trading model and in the states trades are very common/the means of transfers. Very different logistically, and I agree with what you said in the sense of salary being an issue, unlike here, in the nba for example, where salaries are out in the open and you have to match salary. However -

Lennon is out of contract in a year. What was 2.5m in January is less 7 months later. 1.5m plus 2 players and a sell on % may sound about right. Doesn’t matter what como are paying for other players.

are Jensen and polvara high earners? I dont think so. Can Motherwell afford them, maybe? Both have an upside too, I think they’d be good signings for Motherwell despite their limited playing time with us. Unlike the states where players for the most part go to the trading team, footie players have to agree to a team and Jensen and or polvara may have no interest in Motherwell. That’s a major stumbling block.

i don’t see him going to rangers, and at Celtic I potentially see him going the way of David Turnbull. The comparison to Ferguson is a good one. Be a star with us, become a Scotland regular, then move onwards and upwards. Not happening I know, I’ll go lie down.

As long as there is interest in him from more than one club, then a year on his deal doesn't lower his value too much.

£1.5m plus two players who haven't ever had a consistent run of form in the Premiership, and also have no real sell on value (Jensen is 29), would be an absolute robbery.

High earners by Motherwell standards I would suggest. If they're on £2,500 - £3,000 a week, that's enough to be in the top five earners at Motherwell.

But why?

Motherwell play in the same league as us. If Jensen is struggling here as a defender, what makes him go up a level at Motherwell defending against the same opponents?

It is of course all hypothetical, but I think Motherwell would laugh that deal out of the door.

It's the equivalent of us selling Miovski for £1.5m to Rangers in exchange for Leon King and Liam Kelly and paying them both £5,000 a week.

Miller and Lewis Ferguson are not like for like though; Miller is further on than Ferguson was when he signed for us.

Ferguson had played only 13 or 14 games for Hamilton when he came here. Miller has had over 60 games and has played for Scotland. He doesn't need Aberdeen to be a stepping stone to the big time as Como likely give him that (Like Ferguson, do a job for Como and you'll find bigger clubs notice him).

What I make of that is that people doing the stadium tour might use those shirts during visits to the bathroom and so the staff have removed them in advance.

Out of interest, what was the tour like? If I'm struggling for things to do in the summer holidays, I might go wild. I've also got relatives up from England, and they would jump at the chance at seeing a stadium like Pittodrie given the poor offerings they have down there.

Anyway, unlikely it will ever happen. When are we signing a 9?

It wasn't shirts, they've all got nameplates above their own section.  The tour was enjoyable, the guide was very engaging and knowledgeable and getting up close to the Cup was great.

I think we'll need to wait until August, which means we'll announce it tomorrow probably..

I wouldn't rule out Nesbit returning. I think I've said it before, with Hearts keeping Shankland and Hibs holding onto Boyle (both could have been moving this summer) that increases the pressure on Aberdeen to have a recognised goal scorer and we might just pay the big money for Nesbit.

But, the Soumano chase shows we're actively in the market. I don't see us spending 600k - 800k on two strikers. We'll sign one and they become first choice.

Still, will be keeping a close eye on Millwall's trip to Spain next week. They have two friendlies over there - be interesting to see how many minutes Nisbet gets and how he plays. That'll give an early indication of what Alex Neil thinks. He's currently their third choice striker.

I also don’t know the role yengi and sokler are going to play, a couple of friendlies may give a slight idea? We could sign someone tomorrow or it’s a loan at the end of August, either could easily happen. Given the secrecy of all signings to date, pretty much anything can occur in the next 6 weeks, which is still a long time for the window to still be open.
Personally I’m hoping a new legit signing, the next miovski, and would prefer it not to be nisbet. While he’s decent I’m greedy and want better.

It's fine, I'm bored of him anyway.

You were politely asked by a moderator to draw a line under the spat between you and TLG but chose to respond in this way.

Totally inflammatory and unnecessary 😒

Let it drop without always feeling the need to have the last word please.
