Panda Posted June 7 Report Posted June 7 Ā Worth a look. Would help the Scottish quota for Europe... Ā In other news, appears we have signed a striker. Should be an announcement soonish.Ā Quote

wokinginashearerwonderland Posted June 7 Report Posted June 7 It is a highly rated Cameroon born ex French youth international who came through the Ajax ranks and was once bought by Juventus for £14M but got loaned out to the Italian third division and available to us for £800,000. Goal record to date is 14 in 248 games. Got options to sign for clubs all over Europe apparently but his dream was always to play in the Europa League qualifying rounds. Also went on holiday with Palaversa in 2017. 3 Quote

Good work. Quote

manc_don Posted June 7 Report Posted June 7 Kusini Yengi according to folk on the socials. Was well thought of in the A league, helped Pompey get promoted from league 1 but had an injury hit season and not been re-signed. Interesting one and not one Iād have picked, but thatās also not my job. Obviously seeing something that will work with how Jimmy wants to play, and obviously free.Ā Quote

Seems he was really influential in getting Portsmouth promoted from league 1, but this season was hampered by injury and hes now been released on a free. According to Wiki he was number 10 for Portsmouth, which is probably a good thing as it doesnt look like he has ever been particulariliy prolific in front of goal. Certainly could be worth a punt on a free transfer. Quote

Iād say maybe career derailed by injury in the final year of a contract. Worth a free agency punt, scored 6 in 11 for Australia, but most were against diddy teams by the looks of things. Canāt be worse than Ambrose, plus Iād say heās worth replacing sokler in the squad but I expect/hope more for our starting 9. Edited June 7 by OrlandoDon Quote
Panda Posted June 7 Report Posted June 7 Hearts are (or at least were) after him too. Here's some analysis someone did on him when he was linked to Hearts. It's long, but interesting. Agree with the Pape Gueye comparison from @OxfordDon Ā Quote
BigAl Posted June 8 Author Report Posted June 8 Surely this isn't the one that is going to be our main striker next season, and given reports we are close to announcing two strikers I assume the other is an out and out poacher/goal scorer who will command a decent outlay. Nonetheless if Yengi does join the 2025 Scottish Cup Winners, I'll welcome him on board and wish him all the bestĀ Quote

OrlandoDon Posted June 8 Report Posted June 8 Have we reached our Aussie quota to play oceanic champions league? Quote
Panda Posted June 8 Report Posted June 8 Looks like we're shaping the team up to be similar to Jimmy Thelin's Elfsborg, so wouldn't be concerned with how many goals this guy has, it's more about how much he can create - which is what we expect from Pape Gueye. Elfsborg's 2023 season (when they nearly won the title), their top scorer was a left winger called Jeppe Okkels, with 11 goals. Only two forwards featured in their top seven goal scorers that season.Ā We're very much wanting Keskinen, Milanovic, Morris and Besuijen (or replacement) to be the main goal threat from open play I think. A lot of Nisbet's best performances last season were games he didn't score in.Ā You know, it might be a set up that suits Sokler, as he was decent foil for Miovski, but isn't much of a goal scorer himself. Meh. 30 goals a season number 9 for me please! This signing, even if injured, is an upgrade on Ambrose who must go out on loan or be sold, as is potentially an upgrade on sokler. Still expect a legit 9 to be signed. Quote

Not 100% sure and don't have any names either, but I believe Yengi has been signed in addition to another striker, so you may well get your wish. 1 Quote
