With the exception of Considong i don't think losing them all would be a big blow as in the cold light of day i'd say Jack, McGinn, Taylor and Pawlett are all more likely to have an off day than a good one. I'd maybe cut Taylor a bit of slack there but the other three are anonymous most of the time. Plus, there's a real staleness about the first team squad, time for these guys to move on and for some new meat to come in that we can get stuck into.

Well, i've continued to follow the Reds through much worse phases than this and i'll continue to follow them and turn up when at home. There is growing unrest which is aimed at DM obviously. It's undoubted that he's got a good squad of players there at his disposal but he's not using them to their full effect. You'd imagine that his backroom staff have some sort of input but the same 'mistakes' as we see it are happening every bloody week just now. I know i'm repeating myself but i still can't get my head round it.... we win away to the two Thistles with a line up the fans were crying out for for ages, it worked well, then inexplicably he goes and changes it for our biggest game of the season and again for a very important fixture with the predictable outcome! WHY DEREK, WHY?! Then, we give Killie a doing a couple of weeks ago with a line up similar to the Thistle games and then he goes and changes it again and we turn in a dreadful performance! There is a lack of trust in the dressing room imo and it's affecting results / performances which in turn is turning off the fans... and lights (that was a wee joke there)

I just don't get this thing about playing in neutral venues. Doesn't get much more than neutral than being on a different continent! What do these teams fans make of it? If i were a season ticket holder and my team suddenly announced i wouldn't get to one of the games i'd paid for because they fancied 'promoting the sport' in another country i wouldn't be happy. Plus you're giving up the right of your home advantage. Baffling stuff, but i guess it just highlights the fact that it's a franchise these guys temporarily support.

However if i was a cold heartless bastard i'd say Jack - oot McGinn - oot Taylor - 1 year Pawlett - 1 year, but this would be his last if he's not made himself a first steam starter on a regular basis. Christ, i know you said to try this in the reserves but could you imagine the uproar if he tried it in the first team?!?! Why does there never seem to be any good young players coming up through the lower leagues in Scotland? I thought we were on to something when we signed Shankland as he was the first in donkeys to come from Scotlands lower leagues but it turned out he was the donkey! Andy Robertson now at Hull via Jute Utd would appear to be the only decent player to come from the lower leagues for a long time. I think John McGinn at Hibs is a good player and would suit us.

I like the boy Crawford from Accies too, only problem is he's another in the No.10 role. If he did end up at us you can be sure he'd end up at right back or centre half. It's a Bisconti or Heikkinen we need.

I hope you're right about the technology shift Rico because i believe we're currently looking through a window into the future. As Rocket says the industry is not finished but it's not going to go on forever so what does the area do? What do we in this region have to look forward to when the North Sea is winding down proper? Without meaning to start a political debate this was the main reason for me voting YES in the indy ref two years ago. With Aberdeen city and shire being the 3rd most populated area in Scotland a Scottish government couldn't have just sat back and allowed the region to sort out it's own future when the North Sea slows down. West Monster couldn't give a flying saucer about us up here, just like it didn't give a fuck about the North of England when they shut the pits, just like they didn't give a fuck about Glasgow when they took away the ship building or Lanarkshire when they shut Ravenscraig and the pits there. An indy Scotland would have had to have helped this area and prepared it so as not to have hundreds of thousands of people left fucked because our most important industry has gone tits. I do fear for the future... or is that being a bit too dramatic? Like i said at the start, i really hope Rico is right and there's new technologies moving to the area... will that be enough though?

That No.10 role which Maddison occupies at the mo is probably the least of our worries. As Rico points out Kenny could / should be playing there and i think he will once Maddison goes back. Then we've got PP and McGinn both very capable of playing there. I realise that both PP and Kenny were off the boil at the start of the season and that's probably why Maddison was brought in but if that's considered a problem position then we should be looking to offload either of PP or KM. As someone already said neither Robson or Willo have been replaced and when you also consider that Jack is not playing anywhere near the level required then the defensive midfield role is probably our priority.

You dinna sit in SSW do you?! I was out my seat applauding but more to do with Kenny's play in the build up to that incident (don't know if you recall Kenny's play then but it was superb), but i did also think we'd been awarded a foul. I did sit down sharpish when i realised what was going on...

I'd agree with this as i'm reasonably happy with our squad. PP was very good first half last night but kinda fell out it a bit in 2nd half but then he's hardly played recently so understandable. I thought our best spell last night was just after we scored and guess what... that's when Shinnie was switched to left back and Johnny was pushed up the left wing. DM obviously couldn't leave him there the whole game and had to switch him back to midfield. I guess what i'm saying is that imo we have a good enough squad as it is but if we have to bring in a midfielder just so that we can get Shinnie into LB permanently then lets do it. It's not just the 'play Shinnie at LB' that i feel is important, everyone else slots into their more natural positions when that happens.Why can't DM let it be?! (i maybe should have posted this in the Back 4 thread )

As the title suggests... does Ryan walk back into the team this weekend? I'll guarantee you he will but no way does he deserve to! I've had no faith in him now for over two years. You watch him closely... he hasn't a clue what to do when we don't have the ball, doesn't know if he should be filling space, tracking runners or closing down his man. He is always available to take the ball but that's not enough. I was a big fan of the young Ryan Jack but he's totally lost what he had, he's a waste of a shirt, he's certainly no captain and the team performs better without him in it. In my opinion.

Good luck to you ED, hopefully you manage to slip under the redundancy radar again. What's the employment situation like in Edinburgh anyway? I was always under the impression things were pretty buoyant down there...
