That reminds me of a childhood memory. When I was about eight I found a crow in a field, it had a broken wing or maybe it was just old. Whatever the reason it couldn't fly away. I dropped a heavy stone on it. This resulted in the crow making an odd noise. I continued to drop the big stone on it to hear the noise again and again. Eventually it stopped makeing the noise. It was dead.
