Firstly no intention to wind up Rico ( but it is a bonus) by starting this more than forty eight hours ahead of January window closing BUT as a squad we are all over the fucking place and even at this early stage I would imagine we all would have opinions on what need to happen over the summer.

Appreciate that certain things might be addressed in the remaining forty eight odd hours of the winter one BUT given our performance to date, coupled to us being manager less, I wouldn't stake any money on it

Sokler had very clear strengths that were never really played to. He didn't really suit a 4-2-3-1 unless he was the number nine. He was often punted wide, or alienated from the other front man. He linked up well with Miovski on occasion, but we didn't really use that knowledge and try and pair him with Nisbet or whoever. Too often he came on in place of the other striker, rather than as compliment.

That said, he wasn't a player that we were willing to build focus on and work the team around, and I can understand that. If we did, I expect we'd have seen £1M out of him too, but we'd also have got less from other players in an attempt to accommodate him. Not a failure on our part, but also not a surprise that he's done well and been targeted.

He was also quite injury prone if memory serves

Robinson’s comment above on him summed it up (& pretty much every signing made last year)

He couldn’t, none of last years lot could tbh - that’s been the biggest problem…

The fact he turned out to be a dud is on us. He isn’t. We had the complete wrong environment on and off the pitch last season and far too many project players with no actual consistent spine or support. He needed loaning out to get to grips with the change in environment. Fingers crossed he rebuilds and impresses enough (apart from against the nix) to get another shot at Europe.

I think it’s a combination of both tbh. There was a lot wrong on and off the pitch over the last few seasons so it was probably unsettling. Coaches didn’t see enough from him and it was a circle of doom as a consequence. Shame he’s gone to a pariah of a country and a hateful team at that, is thoroughly disappointing.

It's all gone very quiet on the transfer front the past week or so. Had hoped to see some more movement out the door at least and our need for another winger hasn't gone anywhere.

Was actually starting to think the same, we do need to see more going out the door to free up wages etc totally agree on the winger statement.
The lad Smith from Livi might be decent but Yogane on the other side .................. although I am nae fully writing him off YET !!!!!!! I am nae hudding ma breath that he will prove to us he is anywhere near any sort of upgrade on Topi (hope to fk I am wrong but I just canna see it)
Not all signings will always be great, and to be fair to Robinson and everyone involved, most of our signings so far do seem to be an upgrade on last season (that being said it's a pretty low bar to be fair)
Not convinced with Mouloua either, but time will tell.
Anyway 9.5 (decent enough looking at this stage) out of 11 signed is not too bad a strike rate

Didn't watch it due to not having RedTV, but apparently Alan Burrows has said there's a 12th signing due to arrive imminently.

Hibs fans all seem to think he is pish and were saying that last season as well. Downgrade on Devlin imo.

I don't trust the majority of Dons fans' opinions on players so I'm not bothered about what Hibs fans say. Proof of the pudding will be if he's part of a winning team or not. Robinson's managed him before so better placed to judge his suitability for that than anyone.

Aye. I've seen him many times, and he's decent, but not great. It's a good point about having managed him before. It's fine for a few players to follow that line of working too, but I would caveat that with the large gap between now and the time Robinson managed him. I think Cadden was perhaps a better player then, possibly.

The positives about him are his pace and getting forward, unfortunately he's hitting the 30 mark so will probably be getting slower/less electric. Never struck me as the greatest defender and think Devlin is the better of the two but doesn't look like Robinson does. Welcome to the best team you'll ever play for Chris

No. I think for a Fullback he is/was reasonably quick. Don't think Nicky has much pace he tends to just make a yard for himself. Quicker than Devlin but won't score as many and be more easily beaten at the back

I also think this is a good signing for Lobban. Well, in the only way someone else getting signed in your position can be: he's 29, only likely to have a couple of years left at a decent level so it suggests there's a plan to keep Lobban and keep developing. He's just about to turn 21 so has a bit of time on his side. If we'd signed a 25yo that wouldn't bode well for Lobban.

Can confirm Devlin’s house is not currently up for sale.
