tlg1903 Posted November 20 Report Posted November 20 This seems as good a place to put this as any https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/aberdeen-land-mega-transfer-coup-36277578 Darren Mowbray has returned to the club on a permanent basis. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted Monday at 12:03 Report Posted Monday at 12:03 (edited) No quotes but the bbc saying killie are ready to listen to offers for Watson. Would be a really nice pick up. We can compare how we developed Ferguson vs the diminished roles of Barron, Lyall Cameron, and Luke McGowan, but certainly tough to compete with the Glasgow two, plus I think he’s a rangers fan?? RicoS321 Posted Monday at 14:06 Report Posted Monday at 14:06 For all the tedious shite we hear about JT "being backed", and big player budgets/spending a lot of money, we only had three signings on the pitch yesterday, and one of those is a loanee. The return has been exceptionally poor this summer, as expected. The sporting director and Mowbray only now joining has set us back a huge amount, and that has to be shouldered by Cormack. A total false economy spending a load of cash when you don't have the system in place. Quote
Slim Posted Monday at 14:16 Report Posted Monday at 14:16 I think I read Mowbray has been with us since April on a consultancy basis, would be interesting to know how much input he had to our summer signings. I think I also remember reading that the current Head of Recruitment is based in Portugal full time which doesn't seem to be ideal if the only time he spends with JT is on scheduled Teams calls. If he’s based in Portugal, he’s either getting a helluva lot of avios or it does seem a bit impractical. I get he’s probably spending a lot of time online reviewing footage of players around Europe, so probably is a relatively flexible job, but would have thought it would be better to be in person. TheDonbytheDee Posted yesterday at 13:24 Report Posted yesterday at 13:24 P&J reporting that Yengi likely to be away in January and apparently some interest in him. Would be no real surprise with that one. Hopefully Ambrose will be away too and get his career back on track. Jute Posted yesterday at 13:24 Report Posted yesterday at 13:24 Yengi allegedly on his way out in January. Would have loved to know what whoever watched him was on when they decided to sign him. Quote

Would have loved to know what whoever watched him was on when they decided to sign him. Would love to know who's interested, and why. He's not as shite as Calvin Zola. That's how I'd advertise him. He actually just looks a bag of nerves, rather than a horrendous footballer. Good to get him out the door though, and hopefully it'll be the first of many, as that needs to be a priority. Yengi, Ambrose, Besuijen, Clarkson, Palaversa, Nilsen all need to be moved on, with a view to loaning out Milanovic and one of Gyamfi or Molloy. If they can save money by sending Karlsson back, then they should too. Quote
OneBrianIrvine. Posted yesterday at 15:54 Report Posted yesterday at 15:54 (edited) He’d probably be a decent battering ram in lower league Englandshire. Was never going to turn out to be Ronaldo or even Tommy Wright but wonder how different it might have been if we’d had a proper summer recruitment window. Didn’t have to throw him in from the start every week cos we’d no bugger else. He could have been dropped and eased in rather than become the focus because he was all there was. Treatment of him by many was OTT. Summer window (including mysterious lack of warm up matches) really was a shit show. Hope to hell new regime is better. Edited yesterday at 15:55 by OneBrianIrvine. We have very few must keep players. The squad overhaul we just did needs an overhaul! Any money offered for yengi milanovic Ambrose Nilsen gyamfi palaversa , even Jensen, should be jumped at. Quote
BigAl Posted yesterday at 17:51 Author Report Posted yesterday at 17:51 Not sure who else heard the craic on Radio Scotland about 10.50 last night when they started talking about the upcoming transfer window and what we would be needing to recruit then. Tom English said he knew that we were looking at a box to box midfielder, a central defender and a striker. Hardly things that any of us wouldn't have come up with, but he was suggesting we should be looking at Masawanhise from Motherwell. Ever fearful of the last striker we got from them, what are folks thoughts on this one Quote
Nordicus Posted yesterday at 17:54 Report Posted yesterday at 17:54 should be looking at the Motherwell manager Quote

It's a big if though, as still a lot of games to play and yet to go through the obligatory stick spell. Quote

Ever fearful of the last striker we got from them, what are folks thoughts on this one I was thinking Nick Blackman, but of course, it was Curtis Main. We can speak about getting players in for a specific position, the difficulty is finding the right player. Even with a decent budget, for our level, we are still shopping in the reduced to clear section in the transfer market, with the added handicap of every player needing to be a project player. Hopefully Lutz starts to earn his corn quickly in his new role, but our issue is that so many clubs are doing the same thing, making it even harder to find a gem in amongst the shyte. Rico doesn't agree, but I'd rather we took back the lad at Arbroath and give him a chance, but only if he will get meaningful game time. He'd may as well stick with Arbroath if we only want to dick him around, like the other you g lads we bought in the summer. Quote
Slim Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago I think there’s room to be a bit braver introducing young players to the first team. Dylan Lobban is 20, if we’d given him a chance this time last year, we could have saved over half a million on Jensen. I’d rather give Marshall the 2nd half of the season than sign another midfielder unless we sign someone proven/known like Watson from Killie. Even then I’d still prioritise kicking the tyres on Marshall over hoping Aouchiche produces more to justify a £1.5m price tag. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago We’ve spunked a fair few pounds on players not good enough. I’d be giving first team time to look at Marshall frame Belalovic and kjarten to see if they are any good before bringing too many more in. fwiw McKenna was mediocre on loan at ayr and only got into our first team initially due to injury/suspension, they rest is history. You have to look and see what you have. Quote

RicoS321 Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago There's a big difference between guys like McKenna and Marshall though. I was very much calling for both Milne and Lobban to get minutes well before they were given them (including questioning the signing of Jensen when Lobban was clearly playing well). Lobban is a no brainer, because fullback is a good position to bring a player through in. Centre half is also just a case of having the physical side (if you're good enough), which is why Milne and McKenna proved capable. The problem I have with Marshall is the athleticism side. You've got to be able to the yards in central midfielder (Aouchiche covers a lot of ground for example), or you have to be strong or otherwise very talented. There aren't many 19 year olds I'd have starting centrally for us - Lewis Ferguson being the exception, and the sort of level you'd need to be playing. I'm not averse to him coming back and getting minutes, but we're a midfielder short, and it needs to be one who can do the yards. Marshall seems to me to be the wrong type of midfielder for now, and we might be better offering him a new deal and integrating in the summer once we get some bodies out the door (if we think he's going to be good enough). I'm skeptical he's got the physical attributes, basically, but he has time on his side. Quote
