January 2026 Transfer Window

It really never is too early and given it is 2nd September where I am, I'm kicking this one off right now.

Take the chance to start moaning about what we are still missing post Summer 2025 window shutting.

Wonder who the first concrete rumour will involve 🤔

  • Back when Fergie was manager, if a player asked for a day off he'd chain them to the side of the pier. After high tide, he'd untie them, and if they weren't dead he'd fine them a week's wages.

  • Disagree, think he's actually played very well in spells, but has been woefully mismanaged. He's been over played (compare his minutes to Graeme Shinnie), he's been constantly shuttled into diffe

Left back Longelo scored for Motherwell again today. He’d be a great addition.

Would you take Just at Well as a replacement for Clarkson? He looks like a quality baller but had fingers burnt plundering Well squads in the past.

Rated Congreve yesterday. Welsh u21 international under contract with Swansea until 2028 unfortunately. Young lad who would fit our player trading model. Maybe loan with option to buy if they don’t sell immediately??

Early Xmas request. We did well getting the likes of Rooney McLean Hayes shinnie, to a lesser extent Ferguson, the best of the rest. Maswanhise Longelo Congreve and Watson would be great additions, obviously tough to get but I can hope. Upgrade on gyamfi milanovic palaversa and yengi please!

Mo Salah is wanting to leave Liverpool.

Worth a look?

Na. Too old for our player trading. We still have Ryan Duncan anyway.

Do we need a replacement for Clarkson? Thelin doesn't want to play in a way that suits him, so it would be very frustrating (and unsurprising) if we started doing so after he goes. We need a box to box midfielder. Physical and physically fit. The guy Just isn't as good as Clarkson either.

We could take him on loan until the end of the season?

Any best of the rest realistic transfers out there? Agree on a Clarkson replacement, no point in replacing like with like if it’s not the system Thelin will play. At the same time, having a winger or two that can take a defender on the outside is essential if you ask me.

what kind of CM is David Watson?? A Ferguson, Rama type??

He could take Bilalovic's spot on our bench, poor lad is never going to get a look-in anyway.

So aouchiche is 1.5m. Unlikely we’re doing that. Given he’s out of contract, prob 500 for Watson? Obviously there’s competition but I’d really hope we try for this guy. Seems a legit Scottish up and comer and we’ve missed out on those of late, Bowie, mulligan, Cameron for example.

Was watching Sportscene last night and that Josh Mulligan at Hibs, would have been a great signing for us in the summer from Dundee.

Covers a lot of ground and gets about the pitch getting involved.

Always rated him at Dundee, and the Dundee boys at work did always tell me he was the better player than Cameron.

Watson at Killie has also looked good, but haven't seen him enough to tell if he would fit in with our style.

Probably like Cameron he'll go to the hun and vie for a spot on the bench with Cameron, before moving on loan to a Cypriot or EPL 1 team in a year or so.

I’d love to think we haven’t missed the boat but definitely feels like we have. If we can stabilise a bit more then who knows. I’d rather he went abroad if it wasn’t to us.

I dunno, if (IF) he can continue his current form long term, then £1.5m for a 24 year old (he's 23, but will be 24 next season) is not bad value.

Two good seasons at us and there's every chance you recoup that outlay.

Sunderland saw enough to offer him a five-year deal two years ago.

Saturday was the first time I thought "maybe"with regards to paying that for him.  He's really started to settle into that box to box CM role and I personally think he's looking far more relaxed in his own skin too which can only bode well.  If he keeps progressing as he is he may end up making 1.5 mill look a snip cos the boy clearly has talent.

Was that what Sunderland paid for him? Or what he's valued at? Cheeky lower bid from us if interested?

I think they paid a bit over 2 mill for him but 1.5 is the agreed fee we have with them should we wish to make the transfer permanent.

He's not as good as Clarkson. He's not as good as Ramadani was. We could probably pick up similar or better for half that. His work rate can't be faulted, which is helping him a lot. He was gash in the last home game, but still put in a decent shift. He has a ceiling, because he's not particularly physical and he isn't a brilliant reader of the game. I could see him taking the Ramadani route, but we're very unlikely to be getting an uplift on the £1.5M. I'd say it would be a very high risk signing.

I don’t think anyone else will be paying that for him if this is his level, and I doubt they want to keep him. He’ll be available cheaper than that later on in the summer transfer window.

Would hope there’s better players to be found though, especially with 2 x Head of Recruitment on our books.

Apparently we are looking at minimal transfer business in the January window 🙄

Just a midfielder will do. Hopefully there will be plenty of movement out the door.

Plenty of deadwood to be trimmed and whilst not exactly contributing at present, failure to replace some of those that could leave might cause us an issue in terms of numbers if we were to get a spare of injuries

That's true. If both Lazetic and Nisbet get injured, we'll rue the day we let Yengi and Ambrose go.

Perhaps it’s simply relative. Summer was 12 or 13 I think. 2-3 perhaps? I think 4 is the minimum. CM, a winger, a forward, and possibly a central defender. Would like a left back if frame isn’t ready for minutes.

would like to see  vinnie, yengi, Ambrose, nilsen gone, milanovic or belalovic, kjarten, and gyamfi out on loan.
