January 2026 Transfer Window

It really never is too early and given it is 2nd September where I am, I'm kicking this one off right now.

Take the chance to start moaning about what we are still missing post Summer 2025 window shutting.

Wonder who the first concrete rumour will involve 🤔

Honestly can’t see Watson moving within Scotland. Would be good to see what Marshall can do though. He might be more of a prodigy for Armstrong but we should be building him into a central character in there.

I did hear rumour he was casting admiring glances from Italian clubs so you're probably spot on.

Scott Burns reporting Nilsen potentially away this window.

Nilsen, Clarkson and Palaversa will all be away in Jan I suspect/hope.

Would be a fair chunk off the wage bill if they sign elsewhere, though all 3 still 1.5/2 years left under contract

Have a feeling we might have to pay off Nilsen.

Yeah that's probably between 12-15k a week

Anyone read the article about thelin not guaranteeing karlsson will be with us all season? I’d assume the karlsson camp aren’t overly happy with how things have gone to date??

I was very excited by Karlsson's early performances ... no doubt a talented footballer, but his obvious skills don't produce enough in team play. Kjartansen produced more in terms of creative effectiveness with one pass v Celtic than Karlsson has produced with all his time on the ball in the last 2,3, 4 .... games.

Seriously ... don't laugh ... but I think losing Karlsson and giving Keskinen more game time on the left would be an improvement ... although, we surely have 'other' options.

I’m not fussed if we were to lose karlsson, but topi has been a major disappointment this season. Many talked about him kicking on, that certainly hasn’t happened. Prefer we even gave milanovic a run on the left, saw a number of highlights before he joined us where he’s on the left. obviously bilalovic getting more minutes is certainly intriguing.

Ditch Karlsson, he's pish. Best for both parties that he leaves. Hasn't managed to take on a single player since joining. He has got an ace touch, a great shot and his dead balls can be sublime, but he's basically a dick.

Was curious to see how Shady mo was getting on at Luton,so had a look at Wiki first of all.No appearances this season it seems? Know he had an injury around October and was expected out for 4 weeks, but not sure if injured again? out of favour? Cheeky £40k bid in January if the latter?

Mainly been a sub for them and scored in their 4-0 win at Wycombe on Boxing Day.

Not sure we should be looking at a guy who cannot get a start in English third tier. Surely can find better than that.

Certainly hope/expect the penguin to have an influence on this window. As much as he’d arguably be our best winger, putting in a bid for Shady is a step backwards.

maybe not a penguin angle, but who are the up and coming Scots who have gone south in recent years and would be worth exploring? David Turnbull healthy and playing well these days? Would think a Scot coming north and playing for us would get World Cup exposure.

The £40k January bid was tongue in cheek, but it'd be interesting to know currently if Dons fans would prefer our top tier Italian loanee,or the 3rd tier English player

That’s an interesting one. Karlsson has 6 goals so far, no clue of assists. How many goals/assists did shady have for the first half of last season?

It's not that interesting. How many songs has Karlsson got to his name?

None

Because he's a dick.

I had a silly thought during the Jute game ... during our wasteful dominance in the first half ... (not unusual for me to have silly thoughts ... but ... ) ...
'If we could bring on Shady Mo for 'Kesko', and Duncan Shearer for 'Nisbo' ... we'd hae the game won afore half time :D

Point of order: When he was subbed off v Dundee, the fans recycled the Peter Pawlett chant for him.

So, technically, one.

Call it 2 .... cos sooner or later, we're all gonna be singing .. "Ooooh ... Jesper! I can boogie, when I see Jes - per- Karl- sson ... Oh Jesper, I can boogie ... all night long ...... Oh Jesper .......  " .... you mark my words :D

Last season in the league (according to transfermarket site) Morris had 1 goal and 5 assists and 1 goal and 3 assists in league cup group stages.

Karlsson has 5 goals in league and 1 in Conference league but no credited assists.

Sincerely hope we have had the WD40 out to ensure the hinges aren't stuck 😉

I'm wondering if we might change back to a back four soon, which might change my mind on a midfielder requirement.

Aouchiche, in my opinion, is now fulfilling the Ramadani role. He covers a shite tonne of ground in a game, and is technically decent, if not brilliant. Not immensely strong in the tackle but doesn't shirk a challenge either. Secondly, I think Kjartansson looks like he might be a player. He reads the game very well, that much is obvious, and he reminds me very much of Jack (rat Hun cunt etc) in that midfield - positionally very good and so doesn't need to fly into challenges, and also covers the fullbacks.

I'm thinking a 4-1-4-1, with Aouchiche and Armstrong in front of Kjartansson, who drops in to help the defence when necessary.

A striker, then, might be the priority. Plus a fast as fuck wide player.

Done.

We could also have the back three, of course, in a 3-1-4-1-1, but that feels like too many numbers.

Yeah I think with Tobers injured, and Dorrington not being used, we should be evolving away from thee at the back. Devlin is okay at RCB, but he's not a natural centre half. He should be switching with Lobban at right back (who we have to be careful not to run into the ground).

Our two centre mids are always too deep. Playing a 4-1-4-1, or 4-3-3, means they naturally push further forward.

Personally, I feel more comfy with the ol' McInnes 4-1-3-2 ...

To get it out of the way, I thought Polvara had a shit game v Jute ... but, otherwise,  I think the guy is class in doing the basics ... linking play etc .. much though I would relish seeing him further forward ... like as a No.10 ... I would be OK with him as a central defensive midfielder. Yeah, I hear ye .... a single def mid needs tae be built like a brick shithoose .... but, err, Ryhun Jack did good, aye?

A 4-1 rear guard easily transforms to a back 3/5. A No.10 can easily drop back into mid when under pressure, leavin' 2 of three forward mids to backtrack in support ... but when in possession? ... we go 2-1-3-4! .... super dooper (til we fuck up a simple pass and revert to 7-2-1 ;) )  .....

We've lost embarrassingly silly goals as a back 3, back 4 ... whatever .... clean sheets don't win prizes ... goals do! For sure, better coach our defenders ... but ... get some fkn balls in the net! A 4-1-3-2, with quick transition, will produce goals most games .. maybe even enough! :D
