  1. Sounds like he wants to play 451, something like: Langfield McArdle Diamond Ifil Considine/Grassi Foster/New Guy Pawlett Fyvie New Guy Aluko Kyle/Other Target Man
  2. Ifil's one of these guys who does ok if he does the simple things well like win headers and clear his lines. Unfortunately, that type of player is fine to have in your team if you're a St Mirren or Kilmarnock. We have to be aiming for better than that. No point in hoofing the ball up the pitch if it comes straight back again. I would say Lee Mair is a better central defender and was probably on about a third of the wage Ifil is on.
  3. I completely forgot he existed to be honest.
  4. http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/1730303/ Kerr and Mulgrew have rejected final offers and McDonald hasn't expressed any interest in staying thankfully.
  5. Redevelopment sounds like using the land for another purpose. Presumably they'll need to secure the revenue from doing that before being able to commit to building the new stadium. Be easier to sell Pittodrie if it's already been granted approval for redevelopment. All of that is complete guesswork though.
  6. Scored a hat trick against St Mirren in the first Dons match I went to, cracking player for us.
  7. Any goal scored by Pippo Inzaghi. Never stops him celebrating like he's just won the World Cup every time though
  8. You're not wrong, it took me a total of 2 taxis, 4 flights and 4 trains. Still, about 8000 people managed it. With that in mind, getting on a bus for a couple of miles isn't a great hardship. The land at Cove is cheaper, doesn't involve compensating private businesses for demolishing their premises that are very well used by the local public, has more room for expansion and the building of additional revenue generating facilities and is situated at the junction of 2 major A-class trunk roads.
  9. The Gordon Hotel/Arms on Wellington Road will be in walking distance of the stadium, not a 5 minute stroll obviously, but comparable with the distance between Archie Simpsons and Pittodrie. I'd imagine there'd be a bar in the Thistle Hotel too, albeit a bit pricey. Not familiar with Kincorth but I'd presume if a stadium is being built in their back garden, there'd be plenty of access built for local residents opening up access to their pubs. If the Cove bars have any sense, they'd lay on shuttle buses to get the punters in. Building a pub onsite may not be a money spinner as mentioned above, but if they made it a Beefeater-type restaurant with a bar, that could be different. Mill Of Mundurno and the one across the A90 from Portlethen do well despite them being inaccessible to pedestrians. Obviously none of those suggestions are ideal and as convenient for drinking as Pittodrie currently is, but there's plenty of opportunities to 'make do' for those who can't watch a game of football without getting blootered.
  10. We could be trying to sign Mark Yardley and there would be Aberdeen fans on the internet somewhere trying to find the positives. Mehmet is pish, no thanks.
  11. Why not? He wouldn't have been on much more than that at the Spanish amateur club he was at before.
  12. Has he though? The only player that's played more than 30 minutes of football for us this season that hadn't been available to JC is Fyvie, and in all probability, he hardly would have featured this season if at all under Calderwood. Not that this excuses McGhee from having a chronically terrible squad, going on holiday for a month after being appointed started off the process of scrambling about for players that aren't nearly good enough. Surely when he was at Motherwell and was looking for players to sign for the following season, he had better than Ifil and Grassi on his shortlist?
  13. The chat keeps kicking me out and nae letting me back in on both IE and FF.
  14. I backed Don't Push It at 40/1 Only put £2 on it though :/
  15. This made me laugh, Lady Gaga on Chat Roulette:
  16. You think they would have been able to get someone else to cover this story: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/faith/article7065824.ece
  17. Didn't they do a similar story 2 years ago and it led to a boycott of the EE by the club?
  18. It's up there with 'we should keep player X despite him being absolutely awful because Russell Anderson was a bit shaky in his first season at right back'.
  19. Can't disagree with anything Strachan says in that article, didn't bother to read anything that wasn't a quote.
  20. Sore one for Jerel Ifil. Rogvi Holm was the one we binned. McGhee seems to rate Hansson, he's been on the bench a couple of times this season.
  21. I've got no issue with him appealing against Kingston's red card on Saturday even though I think it was deserved but to claim that Fyvie was play acting is a bit out of order. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/h/heart_of_midlothian/8540733.stm "Their player might have made a meal of it since he was up and running about like a two-year-old afterwards and there might have been a bit of crowd influence too." How many 2 year olds run around football pitches?
  22. There's often plenty of criticism aimed at how we scout for young talent, but just read this "blog" on BBC Sport and noticed we got a wee mention which sounds quite encouraging. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2010/02/keeping_the_football_dream_ali.html#196722
  23. DNO also used to sponsor Hartlepool. I'd estimate that 75% of the corporate revenue that we earn each season comes from companies in the oil industry. Even our current sponsor exists to serve the oil industry. We've probably missed the boat with getting an actual oil company putting money into the club, the only company of any size pumping money into the area is Taqa, the rest are either scaling back operations a bit or are small independent companies where every penny is a prisoner.
