  1. When I lived in BoD and worked in Altens, I always used to go through Ferryhill, cross the bridge by the bottom of the Duthie Park and up the Tullos Ring Road. Rarely took more than half an hour door to door, even when they were digging up Market Street. I think there's a shortcut through Kincorth that takes you out by the police station too. You could probably take a right after the bridge and take the A90 too if you wanted, I did that a couple of times when there was a big queue to turn left. If the white elephant bypass is ever built, there will be that option too. Regarding the bus going up Wellington Road, I'd assume someone somewhere would have some common sense and have a dedicated bus lane somewhere, perhaps going between Kincorth and the stadium, similar to the lane that goes from Lang Stracht to Kingswells Park & Ride for buses only. Would encourage more people to leave the car too.
  2. Looks like he didn't impress in the interview, he's not on the final shortlist of 3.
  3. Check these guffy hun pricks: http://www.afc.co.uk/javaImages/b8/fd/0,,10284~5111224,00.jpg[/img]
  4. I don't mind it, I don't get why some people get so worked up about the Union flag. If having a British symbol makes you a Hun, then everyone on here who has a British passport is a Hun. There was a Dons fan from Belfast at the Coca Cola Cup final in 1995 with a Northern Ireland flag, he didn't get much stick then. If Rangers announced that they were abandoning their Britishness and adopting a policy of having sex with females, would you all turn into raving homosexuals?
  5. It's just up the hill from Torry, you could walk it!
  6. At the AGM they said it would cost the same to redevelop Pittodrie properly as it would to build a new stadium but with the added problems of not having the proceeds of the sale of Pittodrie and having to find somewhere to play while they knock down the old girl. Starting with a blank canvas is much better in my opinion, it would have been ideal if we were able to do what Hibs did and upgrade a section at the time if we'd purchased the old timber yard and gasworks so we could have expanded out the Merkland and South Stands but that option is gone and there's not much else we could do with it now.
  7. I like Vernon, he was signed as a replacement for Miller, but he's nothing like Miller. Miller was all fancy touches and holding the ball up when what we've needed was someone to be in the right place at the right time and put the ball into the net. Vernon does that well. Everyone wanks when Mackie gets into double figures, Vernon's almost there barely halfway through the season.

    Looks good, no complaints here
  9. If we're looking at wild card free transfers, how about Michael Ball? Been without a club since the summer, might fancy a low-wage gig just to get fitness levels up and back in the shop window.
  10. Still haven't seen any cables that are politically damaging to the US that they definitely wouldn't want in the public domain. The list of critical national security facilities across the globe is basically a shopping list for terrorists to target. None of them are on US soil. Striking a wedge between Saudi/Iran and China/North Korea is to the advantage of the Americans too. Undermining political leaders of other strong countries makes them look weaker and by default, makes the US look stronger after the Bush years. Good way for the Yanks to get rid of Wikileaks, feed them some stuff, they think they hit the jackpot, then use the scandal to turn the public and corporations against them and everyone (including the Russians) go back to thinking the USA is not to be fucked with.
  11. I don't understand the hate he gets. I wasn't a huge fan of his personality, some of his signings were terrible and some of his teams were dire to watch but there were plenty of great moments and at the end of the day, the guy loved the club and the city, and still does. There will always be debate about the rights and wrongs of sacking him, but he's done enough to deserve the respect of each and every Dons fan. "I told Stewart Milne to sort out the contracts for myself, Jimmy Nicholl and Sandy Clark although he did say he'd put the matter before the other directors. " ^^^ This confused me however, didn't we just give him and his team 3 year contracts 6 months before we sacked them or am I getting mixed up with Mackie?
  12. I'd take him in a heartbeat. He done fantastically well to take Hull from absolutely nowhere to the Premiership then keep them up and he did so on a tight budget. It was only when he started throwing money around that the shit hit the fan and he went a bit mental. Whoever we get is going to have some sort of flaw, I'd rather the manager we get has a flaw like having a screw loose rather than being terrible at managing a football team like Stark's track record suggests, at least we'll get some entertainment out of it if it fails.

I did the same every winter when I lived in Aberdeen, put on a set of smaller wheels with narrower winter tyres to run Oct/Nov to Mar/Apr. Never had any troubles in the snow apart from dodging other dickheads on the road, usually driving a rear wheel drive car with wide summer tyres. Some of my friends who had fancy powerful cars would tend to pick up a cheap small car for a couple of hundred quid to run over the winter. £400 for a 1.2 Clio with 6 months MOT works out cheaper than buying a set of winter tyres and saves your car getting all rusted because of the salt on the roads.
  14. At home to St Johnstone in the mid to late 90's. I think it was so cold that none of the players could be bothered trying to score. I left at half time. Final score was 0-0.
  15. I'd rather have someone with a different mind-set to your tried and tested SPL managers, maybe someone who's been out of work for a while and would be willing to take a job like this for less pay to get themselves back on the radar down south. While that may sound depressing, I'd rather our next manager left us after being poached by a bigger club after doing well at Pittodrie than having to sack another failure. I think someone who's used to working with better players will be better suited to getting rid of the dross and getting the most out of the players who have ability but don't use it as often as they should.
  16. What about Phil Brown, ex-Hull manager? He's a bit of a lunatic and would be a gamble if we could afford him, but I reckon he'd either do extremely well... or relegate us. At least it would be some excitement.
  17. I didn't expect that when I woke up this morning! Not sure who I want to replace him, there's not one stand out candidate and don't really fancy any of the names suggested so far. I said Eric Black last time, there's the Gothenburg connection again, but that doesn't have to be a noose round his neck. He's young, he's intelligent, he's articulate and likes his teams to play attractive football and sign players who can play football. IIRC Coventry fans petitioned for him to be re-instated after he was sacked, and I think since then, this season is the only season where they've done any better since Black was in charge.
  18. Looks like the Daily Record have taken this interview and twisted the words a bit: http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/2017864
  19. Japanese cars are for people who don't like cars.
  20. Aye, the news was making a big deal out of her parents being self made millionaires. "Oh how quaint, they actually had to earn their fortune, guffaw"
  21. I'd rather have the baldy gene than the ginger gene!

    Formula One

Just back from the race, I was wanting anyone but Vettel to win so wasn't overly happy with the result. Big lack of action too other than the Schumacher crash.
  23. That'll be Maguire back out to playing on the wing then.
