The Finnish keeper has caught the eye I have to say
-
Tidy finish 2bf, if you were being uber harsh you could maybe say the goalie could maybe do a little better given it's his near post.
-
I wouldn't mind seeing him given a run out at no 10 actually, he's got the technique for it and I think he would suit playing there in Thelin system.

The words of that could be changed to "mitovs on fire, tears are in Mcgregors eyes" -
Thanks Jute, will defo stick that on

Fair point, I for got about that. It depends how Finland get on I suppose. Their group is Ukraine, Denmark and the Netherland and whilst I dunno how good these teams are it's certainly not out of the question Finland get out their group. Again though the not having to be back to pre season early for Europe plays into our hands here. You would think Jimmy will want give Topi an week extra off and he should be able to.
-
I doubt he will be back, if at at all, until he's early 30's but it's nice to know he considers us a future option. Not surprised though, the moment he started crying on the pitch when saying goodbye I turned to my pal and said he would be back someday.
-
Yeah I think Topi is going to be a standout next season too fwiw.

Whilst it's pleasing to get some in early given how many replacements we need there's no immediate rush for more. Gyamfi was first contacted about Aberdeen months ago according to his RTV interview so I think it's safe to assune the club will already have plenty of irons in the fire. The nature of the window does mean some targets may not become available until the close to the end of August, if at all. When does pre season start for us does anyone know?

On the face of it it looks like a 4222

Stealing that one....

P&J reporting we are not looking at Hale after all
-
Basically not a big enough name and an unispiring win ratio etc. I think it's got disaster written all over it 2bh, they are all ready to turn on him and he's not even given his first presser yet. He needs a miracle start to the campaign already

I really liked the voice notes from the day pod that here we go did. -
Aye, hun media is in fucking meltdown
-
Still not confirmed yet but all I'm seeing online from huns is "no thanks" In fairness, it's a fucking farce. The new board have had months to identify a manager and with just a couple of weeks until their squad has to start pre season they are still pissing about. The gift that keeps on giving.

Hale would be good business imo, he's a good age and knows where the net is at league level. He also looks like he would fit into the system JT wants to play pretty well, from what I've seen he works hard and covers a good amount of ground whilst not giving off a headless chicken vibe. A main man no 9 is defo still needed though.

You think Knoester is Cloggy? Before I say anthing further can define by what you mean by that Manc as my definition of a cloggy CB would be more in zander diamond mould.....
-
Safe to say the hordes of mordor are not best pleased with this news
-
I certainly hope so. With Milanovic coming in to play as an IF it's no bad thing to have the option to play an out and out winger if it's not working and vice versa.
-
This is quite interesting actually. Knoester had 2 years left on his deal with an option to extend an extra year already. Thelin clearly wants to build his defence around him.
-
Sure. Why not...

Some of the chat in the hun thread got me thinking about this. So by hopes I mean what do we all think will represent a successful season for 25/26? Obviously we have the excitement of euro football till at least December to look forward to. Personally I would prefer to go into the conference league as I think we would have a great chance of getting out of the group. Also obviously though the Thursday Sunday fixture list is gruelling and in the past 3 seasons both ourselves and Hearts have struggled domestically as a result. I would personally see remaining competitive in the league (by that I mean staying in the hunt for 3rd) whilst not humiliating ourselves in Europe would represent a successful first half of the season. If we could get out of the group in Europe even more so. It does raise the question of whether or not we should give the league cup our all. Of course we all want to be competitive in the cup comps but with hindsight you could argue getting to the the LC final in Robsons euro season was a distraction we didn't need. Depending on how the fixture list is looking I would probably be at peace fielding weakened sides in LC the first couple of rounds we play in 2bh. The second half of the season is probably a little more straightforward. If we assume that even at best we will likely be out of Europe by the end of February then you have to be looking for a very strong finish to the domestic campaign. An acceptable season for me would be Finish in a European spot, be competitive in Europe and at least one trip to hampden. A good season would be. Finish in a euro spot, get out of the group stage and 2 trips to Hampden (I.E get to a final) A great season would be finish 3rd, get out of the group and 2 trips to Hampden. A best we could hope for season (imo anyway) would be finish 3rd, get out of the group and win the first knockout stage, win a cup. Thoughts?

A lot will depend on how well we recruit. Hearts have been busy already and without Europe and with Mcinnes in charge I can understand why jambos would be optimistic about taking third. I read earlier that 12 players have left the club so it's going to be a very busy window for us. To be competitive in the the league in the first half of the season whilst we are in Europe is the biggest challenge we face next season. Herts have tried twice and ourselves once...... it's not worked out brilliantly for either. That said, I doubt Thelin will do a Robson and only use 15-16 players so, again, we come back to how well we recruit. I would say to stay in the hunt for 3rd whilst being competitive in Europe we will need a 75-80% hit rate. (by that I mean signings that come in a basically hit the ground running) with our transfer business this summer. We need most of it done before the end of pre season as well.
