  1. I mind when Zidane left Juve for Madrid. Juve actually improved a wee bit because they no longer had the entirely understandable "see when you get the ball, give it to zizu" mentality. Not saying that's going to happen here but I'm defo interested to see how we do without him.
  2. Interested to see how we do with Karlsson. He is a bit too much of an ever present imo, I get he's the most talented player in the squad but playing him the 90 when he is clearly burst has annoyed me multiple times now.
  3. That's a little extreme 2bf but I don't actually disagree with you. As I said the best I would feel about it would be unease, we have such a tight knit group and I'm far from convinced they would be happy with someone who had tourist vibe written all over them coming into the squad. There's also the message it sends out. If you show up and give your all you could still be shut out by someone who has just decided to give it a go cos world cup, why not? But if he came in and scored a winner in WC match would you not agree the dynamic changes significantly.
  4. That second goal is the worst clanger I've ever seen from a keeper
  5. Licedome messiah
  6. But he is eligible and we are short on wide players. That's the reality of the situation. At best I would feel unease at taking a player like that into the squad and I totally get your opposition to it. That said football fans are fickle and if he was brought in then scored a goal that won us a game in the WC I know I would be fine with it.
  7. I think it was Tom English who said on sportsound today that he's never actually knocked Scotland back. Does that change anything? I dunno. He's clearly talented and stoked the fire nicely by scoring both goals to win the game for Newcastle today.
  8. They handed over 12.4 mill to the taxman instead of investing it into a squad that clearly needed investment. I would be furious about that alone 2bh so can defo sypathise with them there. Incompetence should never be ignored just because you've been very successful and it's hard not to question the celtic boards competence. What happened today was just another farce from them, did they honestly think some mealy mouthed, pre prepared statement delivered by the absent owners son was going to cut the mustard with one of the most entitled fanbases on the planet after the farce that has been the tims since June? It's as deluded as their fanbases opinion of celtics place in footballs order
  9. I stand corrected. Yeah me too, thought it would be far toastier.
  10. And even hotter by Inverness standards. That's good to know though
  11. The only thing that puts me off about Mexico is how bloody hot it would be.
  12. Doubt Clarke would even consider it unless there was an injury crisis 2bh. He likes to look at players over a few camps before capping them classicly and, loyalty to the players that got us here aside, there are literally no fixtures in the calender for the national team right now. I suspect we will play some friendlys in March when the play offs are on but after that the next time the team gets together it will likely be for pre world cup warm up matches (and isn't that nice to type). Sorry Harv, too little too late.
  13. This seems as good a place to put this as any https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/aberdeen-land-mega-transfer-coup-36277578 Darren Mowbray has returned to the club on a permanent basis.
  14. It actually happened to me just after the cup final but I was a bit pissed and completely forgot all about it until OBI mentioned it there.
  15. Had a wee dig into that, turns out you were all limited to ten reacts a day by default. I think it's all tied into the reputation system so the limits are to stop people trying to game the system and improving a profile ranking which obviously no-one on this site gives flying fuck about. I've removed the limit for everyone (I think) so you should be able to react away to your hearts content. If you could check for me please before it hits midnight that would be much appreciated.
  16. I'm half cut and still no idea how I'm going to sleep. Got off the ball on and watching the goals back incessantly
  17. Nothing puts you through the grinder like the national team. I'm spent after that. But I'm also, finally, going to a world cup. I'm a wee tramp for an overhead kick but Tierneys goal was the goal tonight for me. When I saw it was him about to take the shot it was like I felt a sense of anticipation... And then it hit the back of the net and we all just lost it. I mind saying to pals in 98 "we'll go to the next one" cos we were all teenagers and skint. I ain't missing this. I suspect there will be a faor dons talk representation in the states.. We should have a meet up.
  18. Thankfully I work at home so no-one can see me pulling my hair out in anticipation. I don't care who's running America. If Scotland go, I go! I'm not far shy of 47 years old and this is really the first and last opportunity (couldn't afford France back in 98 as I needed to save for uni) I have to go to a wc to support my country whilst still being just about young enough to rough it a bit if needed.
  19. I feel positive about the big personality, the club in general feels a bit fragile at the moment.... almost like it's scared of it's own shadow. A big character can instill confidence in others and I think Thelin is in need of that 2bh. Warnock was nothing but a tourist whom had never worked outside FA leagues as either player or manager whereas Lutz is the only player to have played in all six fifa confederations. He's kinda the anti Warnock you could argue Oh for sure, you want a core of homegrown, but I wouldn't say no to getting the next young Bobby Firminho at Aberdeen either......
  20. It's completely true and easily my biggest criticism of Thelin but, in fairness, I dont have a fucking clue what our best midfield setup is either.
  21. Thats him in the door and there's a 40 min interview with him up on RTV. Seems an interesting guy, defo with a bit of charisma about him. He's going to be very engaged with all things first team and under by the sounds of it. Feels it's important that a person in his role should be attending matches of the development teams at all ages reguilarly too, not just for players and their families to see him there, but for the coaches too. At one point they talked about how in Germany it wasn't uncommon to see the sporting director be on the bench with the manager etc so it will be interesting to see if he does that on Sunday. Also mentioned he still speaks to Julien Nagelsmann, whom he described as the best manager he ever worked with, a few times a month and the general gist of the chat did make me wonder if we might be looking to Germany again. He has contacts galore out there for sure though so I wouldn't be too surprised if he was involved in Gyamfi's transfer now I think about it. Toward the end he also talked very highly of Ryan Gauld and it was hard not to get the impression he was going to try to get him to come home. Welcome to the good ship Aberdeen FC Lutz, I have a feeling this will be an interesting voyage.
  22. This would please me, he's caught the eye a few times now.
  23. Nerves are really setting in for this now, bet I'm absolutely no use whatsoever in work tomorrow . No idea what to expect, the Danes may well be a bit rattled after bottling it or they may be really pissed off and highly motivated. Regardless though we need to be on it from the off. It would be nice if we actually look like a team that wants to go to the WC and not the limp dicked dawdling around the park of the first 43 minutes against Greece.
  24. Like a combination of Romario and Miller
  25. I reckon Anderson has been playing a lot of fives since he retired. He looks very comfortable in this format
