I'm confident for tomorrow but I think it will still be a really tough game. Livi are a good side, Martindale is a good manager, a win will very much have to be earned. This is potentially the most fascinating team sheet we have anticipated from Thelin yet. No-one is injured, we have at least 2 players for every position (mostly signed by Thelin) and this is probably the biggest selection headache he's had since he was appointed. The obvious likely picks are Mitov, Jensen (though I would go with Devlin myself), Knoester, Karlsson (surely he starts, even if he's not fully fit he will likely be the best player on the park by a distance), Keskinen and probably Aouchiche. My instinct says it's a game or two too early for Gyamfi to start but he's been in training for a few weeks now so it's far from impossible. If it's not him it might be Molloy for a bit more physical presence. Could see Dorrington getting the start at CB given his euro omission. Midfield? Who knows! 2bh I don't think Thelin really knows who his best pairing is there which is probably my biggest black mark against him 2bh. I reckon he might go for Nisbet to start as in his RTV interview he made a point of saying this time he's arrived in good shape this time. He's had a full pre season and I imagine that's pretty thorough with Alex Neil, he also knows how we are trying to play better than the other two options. Just in the door or not he's head and shoulders the best option for me. Agree with OD that it will likely be Keskinen on the right for the reasons he states. Armstrong is an interesting one for me, he's a very different option to Aouchiche and I wouldn't be that surprised to see him off the bench despite lack of a pre season as he looks like he's kept himself in shape. Hard fought 3-1 win with the 3rd goal coming late. Nisbet, Karlsson and Aouchiche.

Why schadenfruede? I always understood it to be the taking pleasure in anothers suffering and, well, he's dead so he's not suffering. There's certainly a ruthless symmetery to him dying this way though. I've seen bits here and there of what Kirk had to say for himself and I can understand why he pissed a lot of people off. Equally though I've seen a few things where he's engaging very respectfully and compassionately with black single mums and trans people who some will tell you he hated. Thing is it's all clips and very often important context can be missed and often deliberately too unft. One thing that does seem clear is his main schtick was to try and get more conversation across the political divide which I can respect. It's not so much the method of death but the fact it was in front of his wife and kids that makes the reactions so distateful to me, I've read his wee girl ran to him for comfort scared by the shot though I can't say that for certain. It's a horrible mental image regardless, and, truthfully, one I've struggled to shake..... you may be onto something with staying off social media.

It's always about power isn't it, never the people. Re conspiracies I did ponder yesterday that the biggest beneficiary of Kirks murder is actually Trump. Why? Well, we ain't heard Jeffrey Epstien mentioned much since it happened..........

I'd never heard of him until 3 weeks ago when south park took the piss out him. Fair play to him, he saw the funny side and didn't spit the dummy. The past few days I've seen plenty of quotes and videos of him. Most of his opinions I likely disagree with but I admire his attitude of trying to get people talking even if they don't agree. The reactions from so many have been utterly rancid though. I don't understand how anyone can cheer a 31 yo getting gunned down in front of his wife and kids just because they disagreed with him politically. Defo fear for America right now, one of my American pals was saying yesterday this could be americas Archduke Ferdinand moment and civil war may not be far away. I don't know how accurate that is but my pal is no fool and not one for hyperbole.

2 down, 4 to go, 3 at home..... Game on!

I'd forgotten just how shit football without fans actually is

And also not playing as much. After seeing what he can do going forward it seems a waste.

Brilliant news

Overall it's about as good as we could put out given the restriction in squad size though a wee bit light in defence and a bit midfield heavy. Theres a lot riding on Gyamfi getting fit soon and hitting the ground running too if you ask me. From what little we know of him it is said he's rapid and attacking which could free up a lot of space for Karlsson given how Thelin wants his full backs to play

Squad is out. no Dorrington, Kjartansson, Frame or Bilalovic. That's a sore one for Alfie you would think. Goalkeepers Dimitar Mitov Nicholas Suman Rodrigo Vitols Defenders Nicky Devlin Mats Knoester Jack Milne Kristers Tobers Gavin Molloy Alexander Jensen Emmanuel Gyamfi Midfielders Graeme Shinnie Sivert Heltne Nilsen Adil Aouchiche Dante Polvara Leighton Clarkson Stuart Armstrong Ante Palaversa Ryan Duncan Dylan Lobban Forwards Topi Keskinen Kusini Yengi Nicolas Milanovic Kevin Nisbet Jesper Karlsson Marko Lazetic

Don't suppose you know when we will get confirmation of the squad? Still nothing on the eufa page

Same mate. Can't fucking wait for it now and a few days ago I was very wary of the fixture 2bh.

It's definitely been a shot in the arm that was much needed after the falkirk game. I think it was Panda that posted a few days back words to the effect that we had livi then a motherwell double header and that 3 wins would transform us........ and I remember thinking that was optimistic. I don't now, we have added craft and guile to the front line comparable to anyone in the league (imo anyway, other opinions are available) and who thought we would be able to say that a few days ago.

My feeling is with Aouchice is that maybe he's trying to do too much. Like, he's come with this psg legacy and now he's in Scotland so surely he must be lighting it up and has that to prove to himself if anyone else. Armstrong coming in defo takes a bit of pressure off him to be the spark in the centre every game and that could be great for him. Agree Armstrong laying in Nisbet sounds sexy. Defo excited for the Livi game though wary at the same time. Martindale knows what he is doing, Livi are a solid team and we will need to play well to beat them. I have far more confidence that we will after the last 36 hours.

Just watched Armstrongs interview on RTV. Dare I say it but this could be a very canny bit of business. I'd forgotten how calm and measured he is when speaking 2bh (which I bet Jimmy loves) but I'd also kinda forgotten just how much he's done in the game. 50 caps for Scotland, loads of euro experience with the tims as well as winning trophies and off the top of my head he must have played at least 100 games in the EPL. I think he will bring a very wise and calm head in the attacking areas and be a great player for the likes of Aouchiche, Clarkson, Palaversa and Polvara to learn from. This is the third signing in a row as well that is bringing a wealth of experience for our young squad to learn from. Karlsson is going to be fantastic for Topi, Milanovic and Bilalovic to train with..... he's literally been where they are with the same manager he had at the time. Nisbet could be great for Lazetic and even though he's 25 Yengi too. The club still haven't put up anything to say our business has been concluded it's worth noting but given the deadline to register for europe has passed I'm not holding my breath. Our business over the past 2 days has been worth the wait though I would say? If the last 3 signings work out well that is likely transformational for our season..... And why wouldn't they? One was at the club last season, did well, and he comes back to us in far better condition then we first got him, he's good to go. The next is probably too good for the league, certainly too good for us, and has a great pre existing relationship with the manager..... I surely can't be the only person that is really having to put effort into not getting their hopes up too much at just how big a player Jesper Karlsson could be for us? Lastly Armstrong knows the league inside out, has lived in Aberdeen before and see above for what he brings to the table. If the youth we have brought in can kick on and show why we signed them this potentially could turn out to be one of the best windows the club has ever had.
-
No he doesn't, we already have 4 trained in league in Devlin, Shinnie, Nisbet and Frame. Could be we drop frame from the euro squad and have Armstrong in his place
-
On a personal note it's nice to have an Invernesian in red again but I'm not sure where he fits in to our team 2bh.
-
No chance, he's been a free agent for 3 months.
-
Last I heard on those two were they should be back to training soon but it all kicked off in my personal life for a few weeks (which is why I didn't post here for most of August) and I could have missed an update?
-
Technically yes but in reality its all about the A list registration. I've avoided going into this as it just complicates things even more but for euro registration you have 2 lists, A+B. "In the UEFA Conference League, clubs maintain two squad lists: List A has a maximum of 25 players, including a minimum of eight "locally trained" players, while List B has no limit on player numbers. Eligibility for List B is for players born on or after January 1, 2004, who have been with the club for at least two uninterrupted years after their 15th birthday." 2 Goalkeepers must be named on list A.

Sokler may still be away according to Scott Burns Ester Sokler could still leave Aberdeen over the coming days. The Slovenian striker has a number of options open to him. They include Serbia and back in his homeland. The Slovenian transfer window closes on Sunday and the Serbian one is 10 days later. It means the 26-year-old could still exit Pittodrie sooner rather than later. Sokler’s path may also have been cleared at Aberdeen by the transfer deadline signing of Kevin Nisbet. It means Thelin now has Kusini Yengi, Marko Lazetic and Nisbet for the main striking berth. The Dons were reluctant to let Sokler, who scored in the Europa play-off against FCSB, go until they got another striker in. Peter Ambrose is another who could exit. He could move overseas or even drop down to the Championship on-loan.

If we assume that Mitov, Suman, Duncan, Milne, Devlin, Nisbet, Shinnie and Frame will all be registered that leaves 15 more places available. Boyd would not need to be registered as he's come through the youth system and is u21 so that leaves 5 players out of the following who will not be registered. Gyamfi Dorrington Knoester Molloy Jensen Tobers Clarkson Polvara Nilsen Palaversa Kjartansson Milanovic Karlsson Bilalovic Aouchiche Topi Sokler Yengi Lazetic Ambrose Players I think should be left out. My first 4 weren't too tough to pick 2bh in Ambrose, Yengi, Molloy, Nilsen (though I suspect Jimmy would drop Kjartansson over him) and I suspect there won't be any arguments from anyone about those ones but the 5th one is much harder. If you pick Sokler that would leave only 2 cf's in the euro squad. If you pick Kjartansson that only leaves 3 cm's though Polvara could play there in a pinch. It may be one of the wingers that get's overlooked as if Boyd is still with us he can play there.
