I agree with bobby that there is a good CB in there somewhere but i've been very wary of considine since the utd game where he gifted them the winner in the last minute at tannadice. His problem to me seems to be focus. That said for the first goal i did think he was right to go for it, if he had let it go and it had gone in we would have given him pelters as well. Obviously his execution was terrible. After that he was always going to be on a downward spiral and probably should have been subbed at half time.

I think the only thing that would worry me about seve leaving is that it would leave us with only 3 senior players that can play centre half. Mair diamond and considine. Mair is not mr consistent nor likely to be available for 1/4 to 1/2 a season going by his injury record at both pittodrie and tannadice. Not that its in any way likely but this would be a cracking time to get anderson back

For me ferdinand has improved greatly in the past few years. My biggest problem with him was he totally fancied himself as the next beckenbauer. Vidic alongside him has been a big part in his improvement but i think as he's matured he's wound his ego in a bit and realised that playing to your strengths is way more important than for your own glory. With regards to vidic and ferdinand being fergies best pairing since miller and mcleish agree, dont think its unfair to put pallister and bruce up there as well though, at least in the same ballpark anyway.

I dont know the geography of aberdeen well enough to comment.

Im highly cynical we are going to make europe so i dont see the point on the extra travelling costs of going away for pre season. If calderwood is still in charge next season we will have a shite start. we could go play pre season in heaven and bring jesus back as our new star striker and we would still have a shite start to the season. The utd game is probably going to be the one that decides who gets the last euro spot and will be game of the season. Its a kick in the teeth that we prob wont take as big numbers as we normally do........... then again aberdeen virtually always choke when we travel in numbers so maybe not all bad
