  1. Aye, I seen that this morning. I have tried to defend him on here several times, but I certainly understand why the majority want him gone, but at the same time, I also understand why McInnes brought him here and opted to start him in games where we really shouldn't have. Bottom line is though, we now have May, Rooney & Maynard and they will all contribute more than Stockley, I wonder if he does indeed go, the wage freed up will be used to bring in a full back as cover?
  2. I'm very disappointed ElginDon, very.
  3. I just feel it's maybe lack of game time, much like Stewart, GMS etc... May was seriously injured and it looks like it's not hit him confidence wise, he still looks like his tails up. There was maybe a bit of extra attention on Maynard as West Ham paid a few million for him not to long ago and now he's at Aberdeen on a free transfer. Absolutely May & Rooney ( If he sticks around ) will be the main 2 strikers we change etc... but I still feel Maynard can add to that if he can regain some sort of form. I like the look of Connor McLennan, the boy is ready built and has some raw pace, maybe we can work on his finishing, but that will take games as well. I feel Stockley still being here will mean that Mclennan will never get a look in, but I agree that Maynard here also means the very same. It's certainly a really nice headache to have when you have a good bunch of attacking options, but could also lead to heads going down and players not performing to their capabilities. As you eluded too in an earlier post, Maynard was definitely only signed after we thought we'd lost out on May, then Moult, so it was a " panic " signing if you will, but he has got pedigree, so we will just need to wait and see how it all pans out.
  4. Funnily enough Nips, I like Maynard too. He's done everything but score though in his starts and cameo appearances. He gets in to good areas and seems to be a little quicker than I thought he would be, however, he's really lacking any confidence just now and as Rico says, bringing him on Saturday, when we have a youth winger who's confidence will be sky high on the bench, was rather perplexing. We had Rooney, Stockley & Maynard all on the bench on Saturday meaning there was no place for Harvie, F.Ross or McLennan. That is strange for me, there's just no need.
  5. I wasn't at the game, so can't really pass judgement on what he did for the entirety of his playing time, but judging by the highlights, he seemed to be involved in a few of our " chances " in the second half. I genuinely believe he just needs a run of 6-7 continuous games and you'll see that he's a decent enough player.
  6. Here's one for you all. We all know now that we play with one striker, and with Stevie May here now, looking hungry and keen to impress, does this spell the end of Adam Rooney as our main front man? Will be very interesting to see how this transpires over the course of the season. Rooney has scored 20+ goals consecutively for the last 2-3 seasons and won't, in my opinion, accept sitting on the bench. I have maintained in any discussion I have entered that whilst Rooney has several flaws, he's still our main goal threat and has won us points and progressed us into next rounds of cups with his goals. What's your thoughts? Will May be the main striker this season? Is Stockley still here in case Rooney moves on, knowing he's going to be second fiddle? Am I over thinking this? ( Please don't answer that last one )
  7. Not so sure Rocket. I think he was fairly key and very much a talisman for Dundee for a couple of seasons, along with Hemmings, but if we're to chose one of those two, it'd be Stewart every time ( I know that's not what you're asking ) What confuses me is where he actually played at Dundee? Was he an out and out striker in a 2 up front or was he a number 10 player, behind the main striker? Can't really remember, but he scored some brilliant individual goals and certainly earned his move down south. Much like a few of the signings this season, they've had very little game time over the last couple of seasons and their confidence will not be what it was and certainly their match sharpness, not fitness, will not be as it was also. McInnes needs to choose a front 4 as quickly as possible, and they then need to click as quickly as possible. Stewart can easily fit in to that front 4 and be an important player for us, he just needs games to get that fitness, sharpness and hunger back.
  8. 3 wins from 3 and a double from Stevie May on his home debut, performance may not have been great but it's 9 points from an available 9. COYR
  9. 2-1 May (x 2) Scored when Dundee had two players off injured but I give not a fuck, this seems to be a strange and unacceptable performance, but a win is a win ( If we hang on ) Hamilton destroying Hibs at Easter Road, 3-0 up and still goalless at Iprix between Huns and Hearts. 2 Results that would suit us just fine, unless of course Hearts score a late winner, that'd be fucking ace.
  10. 1-1 Now and sounds like we are hanging on, what the fuck! Willie Miller " Dundee have been outstanding in this second half and Aberdeen are really struggling " They have just missed another clear cut chance.
  11. Probably his biggest fan min, if you dig deeper than the mainstream " Hits " if you like, he's an extremely talented songwriter. Each to their own of course.
  12. kelt vs seve's_child all over again
  13. Losing something comes to every single player as they age, and when I said relatively quick, I meant in terms of him being a central Defender. They are usually tall, physical and cumbersome, Reynolds is none of the above, but he's certainly relatively quick for a CB. For what it's worth, I would definitely keep him around but that does not mean I feel he's our best defender, far from it actually, I have 2 preferred back 4's and he doesn't feature in either! Logan O'Connor Considine Shinnie Logan O'Connor Arnason Shinnie Shinnie will likely never play LB again barring injuries/suspensions etc... And Arnason needs to prove he still has the class and composure he did have, which I have no doubt he will in the coming weeks, but even then, Reynolds and in particular O'Connor, have done nothing wrong to merit being replaced. The only domestic goal we have conceded was 100% the fault of Logan, who gave away a free kick and then lost his marker for said free kick. Barring a couple of long range efforts, we've looked pretty comfortable with the current back 4. O'Connor will be a big player for us this season, he will make a CB slot his own, of that I can guarantee, he is like a younger Arnason in where he very rarely flaps and can pass the ball and keep very composed. So it's anyone's game for the other slot.
  14. Very sad indeed. Wish him nothing but the best.
  15. Is it though? For me, on early evidence, especially the European games, he still looked relatively quick when he had to cover any errors at the back. I think he's worth keeping around for a couple more seasons at least. I am O'Connor's biggest fan, and if Arnason wants to break into the back 4, he'll have to wait just now, as both O'Connor & Reynolds deserve to keep their places for now.
  16. Bruce Springsteen - Sad Eyes
  17. 2 Wins from 2 and by all accounts, sounded like a shaky start but took control after the 10 minute mark. Very difficult away fixture overcame and we can now look forward to welcoming Dundee, a game we should comfortably overcome. Added bonus, the vermin Hun bastards lose at home, Ryan Jack got sent off and the only negative with it is that it was another verminous pricks team that won there. I am Aberdeen bound tonight for a good friends wedding tomorrow, shaping up to be a good weekend
  18. " They've got the numbers, I wouldn't say quality because we've got the quality, but they have a few more who can lend a hand." Martin Canning there.........
  19. I have defended Stockley on here previously, and I can certainly understand his presence in and around the team for what he brings, or what he's supposed to bring, but sadly, he's not delivered. He's bizarrely a liability due to his elbows, deliberate or not. So he needs moving on. Rooney is still Rooney, and what some are saying now is what some have been saying for a long time, the guy is our main threat in the box, no question, but he does very little else. He has no pace, his aerial prowess is non-existent and he's fairly abysmal at holding the ball up. Just facts there, not putting him down, because he's still a key player is sluggish games. Storey is extremely curious, I can't believe some have written him off despite the guy barely featuring. Albeit the manager sees him in training every day, but we all know McInnes is quite stubborn when it comes to changing one of his favourites, and in this case, that's Rooney. Storey is entirely different to anything we have in that he's pacey, clever and proved he can score whilst at Caley Thistle. Needs more of a chance before I would completely write him off. Maynard is a new arrival and I am making no comment until he's been given an opportunity. The kid Connor McLennan for the Under's seems to have the desired physique and he's certainly pretty quick, he could be the next Scott Wright in terms of featuring sporadically for the first team. Adam Rooney, Miles Storey, Nicky Maynard & Connor McLennan would be a decent pool to call upon considering we play 1 striker. Cheerio to Stockley.
  20. Hemmin DD, was it you on Twitter last night with the Maynard comment? I ken it wasn't min, just jesting.
  21. The " overreaction " on here has been far more subtle if non-existent, compared to what I have read on Facebook & Twitter. I love a good to & fro with anyone who I disagree with, but the stuff they were saying was so bad and literally embarrassing, I didn't have it in me to reply to them. Stewart & GMS are pish and never our standard McInnes still gutted he rejected the Sunderland job his hearts not here anymore Nicky Maynard better not get back on the flight makes Mackie look decent ( The guy has started one match FFS ) Blood was boiling to be honest, however, they are entitled to an opinion as much as I am, even if it's fucking ridiculous.
  22. I think in regards to the heat being an issue argument, it only really effects our pressing game. No way could we have played that tactic for the majority of the game, their full backs, but more noticeably, the Left Back Jander, was up and down that flank all evening, whereas Considine got to roughly half way, and played 9 times out of 10 what looked like a rather poor pass. In any case, I am in no way saying he'd have made the difference in getting us through last night, but for me, it shows how much we already miss Hayes. He covered every blade of grass and was so direct it terrified the full backs, their right back was barely beaten last night, I think Stewart & GMS will be good additions, but they are too far off the pace just now and hopefully doesn't take them too long to speed up, Stewart in particular.
  23. Could not see any game plan from us, no cohesion and no real pattern whatsoever. Our first shot on target from open play came in the 95th minute, criminal. We need to cut our losses with Jayden Stockley, let Miles Storey out on loan to a club where he'll get guaranteed game time & prioritise a striker to compete with Rooney & Maynard. I'd even go as far as saying that I still wouldn't mind another Left Back. Considine is fine and reliable enough for SPFL games we should be winning, but as Shinnie is clearly now seen as a Midfielder, we need cover or rotation in at Left Back. Also, Scott Wright should probably start vs Hamilton and let Stewart rest, he'll be an asset no question but he's so sluggish it's unreal just now. Overall a very disappointing and piss poor evening where the manager got it wrong it again, but we still have minor shortcomings that hopefully he'll address.
  24. I shall add another to The Smiths & most definitely Mumford & Sons.
  25. Would have struggled to see where Maloney would have fitted in to be honest, but only because of the additions ( GMS, Stewart & Christie ) plus Wright already being here. As someone alluded too above, we should concentrate our efforts on Moult and look to move on Stockley or Storey, if not both now.
