And all bizarre goals as well. Last 10 mins vs Sevco and opening 10 mins vs VicTims. Add to that purely avoidable goals vs St Johnstone, makes for grim reading.

Controversy incoming. I don't want Ash Taylor wearing a red shirt again. I am going to say, let's try a 3-5-2 Lewis O'Connor Considine Renolds Logan Shinnie McGinn McLean Hayes Rooney Stockley I have done a pretty abysmal job at trying to make it the shape I was looking for, but you get the jest. Logan & Shinnie are both good going forward and getting crosses in to the box, but they are also both good full backs, who can defend. Can give them the freedom to get forward when in possession or sit as a back 5 when not, allowing Hayes and McGinn to move out wide. Or, when in possession, they can interchange behind the strikers in a little bit more central role, both good with the ball at the feet. Will never ever happen, but I'd like to try it. Even in pre-season, just change personnel by then.

Jesus fuck, in the words of Pop from League Of Gentleman " You and I are gonna be good friends " For the record, having now seen Oxford Don's Loan thread, I agree, he's put some fine work into it, and this has now been moved into it, rather than "Supercede " it. Apologies Oxford, I am relatively new on here and wasn't aware of this thread.

I wonder if he's SMsW.

Obviously as the season draws to a close, we will see a few fringe players returning from loan, most notably Cammy Smith, Lawrence Shankland, Danny Rogers & Craig Storie. Also Scott Mckenna, who I think may already be back. Anyone reckon we will see any of them here next season? Are they still young enough to continue their development or have they had enough opportunities etc... to impose themselves in the 1st team squad at the very least? Danny Rogers for me, is more than capable of being a number 2 to Lewis, whether or not he wants to be back up though, remains to be seen, I think he made it clear last season that he wants to play. Lawrence Shankland looks like he's probably leaving, never really given an opportunity, despite what anyone says, 3 or 5 minute sub appearances is nowhere near enough to make an impact. But Rooney is our main striker, Stockley has done a decent enough job as back up, and even Miles Storey can't get a run and looks to be offski as well, so really don't see a place for young Shankland, which is a pity, as I was excited when we signed him. Craig Storie, looked a prospect when he played a few times last season, then just fizzled away and eventually been loaned to St Mirren, where even there, he's struggled to start games. Wouldn't mind him staying, but reckon he will go as well. Reminds me slightly of Jamie Masson, looked okay when given the opportunity, then gone, just like that. Could maybe have benefited playing alongside Jack for a full season, who knows. And last but not least, young Cammy Smith, I feel his best position would be behind the striker, in the 10 role if you like, started off really well at Dundee Utd on loan, then it went south for him, then by all accounts, is a real favourite with the St Mirren fans, could he be kept as a back up to McLean, especially with Pawlett leaving, or should we look for a more experienced name? Who knows, always liked him and perhaps had more hope in him making it.

As am I, hence why I said it's purely speculation. They claim to have gotten several players right, signing for clubs, before it was confirmed etc.... I would have go back and dig out all of there previous blogs etc... If I can find the tweet. I also believe it's bollocks, I don't for one second think that McInnes will go and bring in several foreign players, but you just never know. In any case, we have a massive job in rebuilding what looks set to be several key players/squad members leaving.
-
Thank fuck for that. Genuine relief. I sincerely hope we replace the players that are leaving with at the very least, the same quality, if not better. COYR
-
Side note, no Jack today, anyone know why? Reynolds & Pawlett come in to the team. Shinnie & McLean sitting? Or Shinnie & Pawlett sitting?
-
Listen, we cannot deny it, if we lose today, which obviously is possible, but unlikely, given that Hearts are shite, we entertain Celtic next whilst the Zombies have Hearts at home. We could be going to Ibroke with only 3 points between us it's literally unacceptable and indefensible should the worse happen. I appreciate I am being a negative cunt, but it's not exactly impossible, is it. Today is a cup final in itself, we absolutely must win, anything less is not good enough.

A lot of foreign players were mentioned in a blog I saw on Twitter yesterday, can't remember the name of the writers etc... but they claim have to gotten Sviatchenko correct amongst others from several SPFL teams. They spoke of players leaving first, they reckon that Jack will go to the States, Ash Taylor will go to Hearts McGinn will leave and more surprisingly, they are of the belief that Logan will gone in the summer, no idea where that's coming from tbh. On to players in, they are very much of the opinion that McInnes has set his sights on a number of players from abroad. First up, they believe we are interested in a Slovenian Youth International by the name of Tine Kavcic. They also reckon we're looking at Miroslav Kacer, central midfielder who plays for MSK Zilina. To replace McGinn, they reckon we're after Haris Duljevic or Dino Hotic. And up front, they are of the opinion that we may test Ross County's resolve with a cheeky bid for Liam Boyce. Obviously this is all just rumour from them, but if they did get the other's right, Sviatchenko etc... then who knows. One thing for certain is though, McInnes does not buy abroad, or get on a free I should say. Anyone want to count how many he's signed that weren't British or played in the British leagues?

Dons - St. Johnstone (again) - Sat

This thread has somewhat sidetracked, I reckon we should all concentrate and go back to talking about big Zander coming home. -

Absolutely, purely avoidable goals, a lot of unnecessary flapping happening. -
Who would get into the Celtic team?
KennyFuckinPowers replied to Nips_and_Tatties's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Shay Logan in my opinion, is the best RB in the division, Celtic full back included. Lustig is obviously a good full back, an International, but he's a lanky streak of piss, and if it's down to football ability, Logan wins, hands down. Only my opinion mind. Is Callum MacGregor better than Kenny McLean? Again, for me, not really. And regarding Tierney, it didn't take long for that love in to happen. Considine could be there LB and look as good as him, that's a fact. Maybe doesn't posses the same pace and isn't a natural LB, but he's a better defender and brings aerial ability which the Tim loon doesn't. I am in no way saying he's pish etc... because he's not, but he's not as good as the Victims seem to make all their players out to be. -

Both have to shoulder the blame, Jack shouldn't be passing it back so close & Lewis should know better than to pick it up. Very amateur -

Just caught up on the highlights there. How on earth can McInnes claim the referee was wrong to award that free-kick for a back pass?? It was as clear as it was deliberate. Maybe he's trying to deflect away from what appeared to be a lacklustre performance. McLean has missed 2 absolute sitters, and ultimately, it would appear a draw would have been a fairer reflection, but it wasn't a draw, and it's 2 home defeats in a row where we've conceded a total of 5 without reply. And being realistic here, we have to go to Tynecastle, a game I believe we should win, but whether or not we do is another thing, before hosting the vicTims. We could be going to Ibrox with only 3 points separating us, depending on how they fair in their upcoming 2 fixtures, away to Partick & home to Hearts. Completely unacceptable and indefensible should we lose 2nd place, however unlikely it may be as things stand right now. We absolutely need to sign a no-nonsense centre half, who doesn't flap regularly, possibly even 2. It's a must. And I may as well put it out there, Zander Diamond appears to be on his way back to Scotland Imagine he was signed as Taylor's replacement -
We better Ferguson's home record tonight with a comfortable 3-0 win against Caley, we then pump the dead club on Sunday with another comfortable win, 4-0 this time, then on the Monday McGinn signs a 2-year contract. Not a bad week coming up folks

I disagree ( obviously ) O'Connor is a pretty steady player, shown time and again he can pass the ball, shown he can win tackles & generally brings the same composure that Jack does. I agree with Manc's statement there about him being a bit slow, but he's a sitting midfielder, he just needs to protect the back four, something he'd do at a canter. When I said about him being ready made, I never specifically meant he's as talented a player as Jack, but he does the basics that Jack does. It's irrelevant now anyway, as Tansey will be his replacement.
-
Making this thread on the assumption that Ryan Jack decides his future lies elsewhere. Do you have any particular player in mind as to who you'd like to see us replace him, realistically please! My shout would be Abdul Osman at Partick Thistle. He is their Captain, he's 6ft+, very physical as we all know and loves a tackle. But can also keep it simple in terms of passing and slowing down a game. Partick don't concede a lot of goals, and are a tough nut to break down most of the time, Osman is a big part of that, so is the boy Lindsay & Barton to be fair. Just an opinion, but I'd love to see him come in.
-
Whilst it's not been confirmed, I said weeks ago he's probably already made his mind up. Same applied to Jack & Taylor. I'm rather excited to see how McInnes replaces these players, all key members of the first team squad. O'Connor is a ready made replacement for either Taylor or Jack, more likely Taylor though, would be chuffed going back to a CB pairing of O'Connor & Considine. Would like to see Michael Devlin at Hamilton signed. In terms of Jack, I would actually take Abdul Osman at Partick Thistle, big physical holding midfielder. No idea who I would like to see replace McGinn, we won't give Scott Wright or Frank Ross the opportunity, so maybe a season long loan from an English team for one of their fringe wingers? Fuck knows, time will tell.
-
And yet, of all our highlights, it involved Stockley winning a header or laying off after a nice touch etc... His all round game is better than Rooney's, no question, but Rooney is the goalscorer, why not give them a run of 8-10 games and see how they fair, rather than 2.
-
I only asked about Taylor as I do feel his time may be up. I think we all saw how defensively sound we were when Shinnie went to Left Back, O'Connor & Considine were at Centre Back and obviously the ever reliable Logan was at Right Back. That was a settled back four, some pace, some relatively decent muscle and more importantly, calmness. I'd be none to fussed at all if Reynolds remained as cover. Taylor is indeed a strange one though. I do believe there is a player in him, but he has utter brainfarts, which have proved to be all too frequent, not as much costly, Hamilton defeat there aside, which we cannot afford. I can only comment on this guy due to the fact that the last 2 games we've played them at SuperSeal, the boy Devlin looks solid. Surely we could attract someone like that to not only give ample cover, but good competition to the remaining defenders. Knowing our luck though, we'll lose McGinn, Jack and obviously Pawlett, and Taylor will sign a new contract, which DM will say " Softens the blow of others leaving "
-
Good luck to Pawlett. Decent servant of AFC, and on his day, more than capable of playing at Championship level, let alone League One. Regarding McGinn & Jack, I am absolutely certain that both will be offski at the end of the season. I genuinely belive they'd have committed by now. Maybe keeping a lid on things as we currently have extremely important fixtures coming up, Semi Final and trying to secure 2nd. Imagine if we were told that McGinn, Jack & Pawlett were all away, just now. Would undoubtedly cause some angst amongst us fans and possibly the dressing room. On a side note, I see nobody is clamouring for Ash Taylor to sign a new contract? Don't see his name popping up on here. How would you feel if he moved on?

Striker Poll ( Well, Kind Of )
KennyFuckinPowers replied to KennyFuckinPowers's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Another good performance from big Jayden yesterday. His link up play & aerial ability was excellent, won almost every header, I say almost, and brought Pawlett, McGinn etc... into the game on several occasions, the touch in the box for Pawlett, who subsequently hit the side netting, was sublime. And in my opinion, another game in where Rooney was non-existent. Anyone else noticed that he's been desperately trying to score an overhead kick for weeks now, was unlucky vs Ross County not to score one, but yesterday, he ballooned one way over the bar and it's becoming a bit tedious. I genuinely love Rooney, his goals have been utterly priceless for us, but he shouldn't be exempt from being dropped if he's offering very little, that is of course, unless we continue to play 2 strikers. Then he has to start, as he can concentrate on getting into good positions etc... I just feel like he offers nothing else, he's literally useless in aerial duels and his link up play is generally poor. For me, and it's only an opinion, Stockley deserves to get a run of games under his belt. Of course, I would not care a jot if Rooney continued, but I believe we'll get more from the supporting players with Stockley's clearly better all round game. -
That's what I thought when reading this. May was a decent striker, but he won't play ahead of Rooney & whilst Stockley isn't everyone's cup of tea, he's still a useful sub/replacement, and Storey, why has he had so limited game time? People can say he's shit etc....But on what evidence can they base that on? He's had less game time than fucking Shankland got But aye, midfielder is the priority, surely? Hopefully the May link is just to detract attention from the actual target, whoever that midfielder may be.
