Quinn off to Ross County, bizarre I actually think he is a better defender than Reynolds, some of our best performances have been when Quinn has played

Is this fact?

I heard were getting Boyce and Quinn in the opposite direction was part of the deal? I discontinued it as rubbish until reading this.

I guess with Reynolds, Taylor, Consodine, Logan and Shinnie we probably have enough in defence?

I would say it leaves us short, particularly at RB.

Boyce would also be quite an interesting proposition though I would be very surprised at county letting him go so easily.  I would rather Jackson Irvine.

Would be a really poor move, genuinely think Quinn should be in the team every week ahead of the accident waiting to happen that is Taylor.

Also linked with a loan move for Don Cowie, not particularly excited about that prospect either.

Agreed completely, although there are definitely games where he is not as comfortable against. He's someone we should be looking to retain. The game a few weeks back wasn't great for him but generally I've been impressed with him.

Chris Harvey tweeted it

Decent source but he's not infallible.  He also tweeted similar about Jamie Ness if memory serves.  Boyce would certainly add a new dimension to the attack and would likely be far more effective than DG when played up top with Rooney.  First time I saw him was the 4-0 against county at the end of last season.  He looked pretty poor that day but he also didnt look very fit.  In more recent meetings he's looked better and was a menace when we played them last.  The way I see it to varying degree's we need a striker, CM, RB, CB and GK but I really can't see us signing 5 players in the window.  3 tops which is going to leave us short.

Oh he has looked shaky at times but I'm pretty convinced if he's allowed to form a settled partnership with the likes of Reynolds then we would see the best of him.

ABERDEEN have snapped up Adam Collin as replacement for Danny Ward.

As SunSport revealed yesterday, Dons boss Derek McInnes moved for the Rotherham goalkeeper after missing out on a swoop for Rangers’ stopper Cammy Bell.

Collin, 31, became a hero at the Cobblers after his two penalty shootout saves in the 2014 League One play-off final saw them promoted to the Championship.

He was signed by Steve Evans back in 2013 and played over 70 games for them. But the 6ft 5ins Cumbrian dropped out of the picture under Neil Redfearn this term and has only featured twice for them.

He will move to Pittodrie on a loan deal until the end of the season and could even be pitched in for the Dons’ clash against Ross County on Sunday.

Collin came through the ranks at Newcastle United and was a substitute for the first team but never got onto the pitch.

After spells playing at Doncaster and Workington, Collin had four years at Carlisle which included a spell of 146 games in a row.

McInnes has been on the hunt for a new goalkeeper after Liverpool’s decision to recall standout Ward left Scott Brown as the only senior goalie on the books.

This doesn't fill me with confidence.

Do we never look abroad for first team players anymore?  I really don't think there's value for money in the English lower leagues.

Logan, McGinn, Rooney, Hayes, Taylor, Reynolds. Not a bad return. I would agree that our goalkeeper signings from there have been atrocious though, but then several teams have picked up a few awful goalies from elsewhere too. It's a specialist position that is very hit or miss. I think this guy is just a case of getting someone in before the weekend so that we at least have a sub 'keeper. I'm not convinced he'll even start. We had to do something I suppose, and quickly, so it's worth the gamble until summer. We need to focus on the other positions, the goalkeeper situation was an unhelpful distraction.

Interesting move for Quinn, I have to admit I've never been totally convinced. His serious lack of pace (and slowness on the turn) should have been noticed well before we signed him and should have been a complete non-starter. Nevertheless, had a couple of good games when there's been a back three and seems to be a good professional. He's a squad player, and for that I'd like to see a slightly more versatile player. It was suggested he could play right back when he came, but I think that was disproved almost immediately and was a bit of a ridiculous suggestion. Hopefully we'll get one of their players in return as part of the deal.

You think our lack of a goalkeeper is just a distraction!!

Quinn going will only mean Taylor playing more games which is quite frankly frightening

Fucks sake I know it's only the middle of January but nothing about this past week has filled me with any confidence for the 2nd half of the season

I didn't say "just" a distraction, I said it was an unhelpful distraction. I was getting at the fact that it was unplanned and is removing focus from the areas that Deek would have been trying to acquire players for in a short transfer window. Not trying to trivialise in anyway, perhaps distraction wasn't the best term.

I see we're being linked with Stuart Bannigan.  Can't say I know much about him?

Aberdeen are understood to be keen on Bannigan and may try to tempt the Firhill board with an offer. (The Scotsman)

Adam Collin having his medical, the lad seems keen.

Collin is keen on the move to the Granite City after being frozen out at the Championship side this season, following the arrival of Lee Camp from Bournemouth in the summer.

Collin said: “I’m excited at the prospect of joining a club of Aberdeen’s size. It’s a great opportunity.

“Aberdeen are one of the biggest clubs in Scotland with a great history.

“I spoke to the manager and can’t wait to work with him. I should be fit and available for Sunday.”

Apologies, it seems the EE stol that snippet from the Daily Record:

Speaking to Record Sport as he travelled north, Collin said: “I’ve seen what Danny Ward did for Aberdeen this season, which is why Liverpool have called him back to Anfield.

“I understand it’s a hard one for the fans but now it’s my turn to show everyone what I can do. The plan is to help the club get over the loss of Danny and hopefully I will do a good service.

“I spoke to the manager and can’t wait to work with him. I should be fit and

available for Sunday.

“It’s a loan move until the end of the season but my Rotherham contract expires in the summer so I’d like to prove my worth and hopefully stay at Aberdeen longer term.

“First and foremost I just want to get playing again and then worry about that at the end of the season.

“It will be a great challenge and I’m raring to go.

“The Premiership looks to be a really good standard from what I’ve seen of it.

“I spoke to my Rotherham team-mate Chris Maguire about Scottish football and he highly recommended it and I just want to get going now.

“I’m raring to go. I just want to play games.

“I’m not someone who is happy to sit on the bench.

“I had a huge part to play in getting Rotherham promoted and then I played 35 games in the Championship last season so it’s been disappointing not to feature as much this term.”

Former Dons star Maguire, who on loan at Oxford, is convinced Collin will be a hit at his old club.

He said: “Adam phoned me to say there might be a chance to go to Aberdeen.

“I had nothing but good things to say about the club and it’s a great opportunity

for him.

“He’ll bring a bit of experience to Aberdeen and I’m sure he’ll do well.

“He’s a good shot-stopper and he talks a lot. He

communicates with his back four which is important – you want that from your keeper.

“Adam’s a strong character and is really vocal in the dressing room.

“This is a good chance for him to get first-team football and he’ll thrive on that.”
