Like hilton, I've seen us win the league 3 times and I saw our best footballing team come 2nd in 1991, which was a travesty. I only missed one away game that season and we were fabulous all over the pitch, Jim Bett pulling the strings.

 

Having seen what championship teams look like, I don't think this squad is good enough yet. But it's getting a hell of a lot closer and for that, we should all be grateful.

Never believed for a second he'd be coming to AFC 

I still hoped we would be getting someone in, bit of an anti climax and no real statement of intent has been set. The players we have brought in (Parker aside as it's too early to judge) have been great additions, but we're one injury away from a striker crisis. An area that clearly needed to be addressed. Agree that we look a little short up front. An injury to Rooney especially would leave us relying on strikers who have hardly been prolific over the last few years. Hopefully Shankland does well at St Mirren and we have a recall clause that will allow us to take him back in January to provide extra cover.

Given where we are, and I know other people have had a massive help in making it happen, but we are in a healthy place right now so I will give him the benefit of the doubt.  We have made ambitious signings at the right time in the previous January transfer window so I am hopeful that something is in the pipeline for that.

RYAN McLaughlin today admitted he can’t wait to get his Dons career under way.

 

The 20-year-old was manager Derek McInnes’ last signing before the transfer window shut at midnight.

 

He moved north on loan from Liverpool just hours before their 2-0 Premiership victory over Partick Thistle at Firhill.

 

McLaughlin is now with the Northern Ireland Under-21 squad set to face Scotland in a Euro qualifier on Saturday.

 

But  he confessed he already has one eye on being involved when the Dons face champions Celtic at Pittodrie in the Premiership a week later.

 

He said: “I can’t wait to get going. I’m coming in at a great time.

Tom Farmer at Hibs - failed, Robinson at Hearts - failed, Boyle at Motherwell - failed, Johnston at Killie - failed, Gilmour at St Mirren - failed, numerous at Dundee, shop-owner at the Jute, Murray at der bun, and so on. All "businessmen" who've financially mismanaged their clubs. Maybe fitba isn't as easy as folk think?

You're right, it was SMG that invested, not Milne. It was in preference shares. Canna mine the amount. I'm not sure how Milne not being majority shareholder backs up your argument surrounding his financial mismanagement of the club?

And anyway, who gives a fuck about other clubs? I've not read the annual accounts for them for the last 20 years. From what I understand, some have been well managed. Fuck they've even been able to build new stadia/stands whilst Milne turned our balance sheet to shit.
