TheDonbytheDee Posted Friday at 08:52 Report Posted Friday at 08:52 Love having a read through of the On This Day, section on the Heritage Trust site. What caught my eye today was the game on the 2nd January 2003, against the Victims. This game kicked off our centenary year and we got a credible draw against a good Victim side and from my memory, we played very well that day and should have won. I remember the game well and still have my match programme and other stuff relating to our centenary year. A crowd of just over 16k and over 3k, were victim fans. Credit to the club for at least getting more fans through the turnstiles nowadays, even if the on field product doesn't match fan enthusiasm. Quote
swaddon Posted Friday at 09:23 Report Posted Friday at 09:23 The centenary was a bit of a let-down, if I recall correctly. Hopefully they've got big plans for our 125th in 2028. Apart from winning the quadruple, of course. Quote
blinlemon Posted Saturday at 12:42 Report Posted Saturday at 12:42 60 (sixty) years ago today, 3 January 1966, I was privileged to be allowed to attend Pittodrie for the first time. Jimmy Wilson and Billy Little had us 2-0 ahead at HT. Perth scored three in the second half. Every time I see Chalky Whyte, I give him grief for spending the second half on his butt as the pitch was icebound, and Saints players had changed into better footwear for the conditions. It was neither my best day, nor my worst as a Red. 2 Quote

I despised Miller long before he become our manager. One of the many, many lows under Milnes stewardship. Were real dark days then. Might be shyte now, but still Scottish Cup holders. 2 Quote

People forget, we had aitken, heggarty, ebbe, miller, Patterson between smith/scott and calderwood. Plus McGhee post calderwood. I don’t think cormack has picked the worst managers we’ve ever had. you are right about jimmy, very likable and we were all behind him. We badly want him to succeed. The fan support for his team has been amazing, it’s just not working. Maybe a back four today brings a change in fortune. 2 Quote

If memory serves me right the next day the red tops had a story of a Tic fan who bet his entire life savings (circa £13k) on a Celtic victory at odds of 1-13. Russell Anderson's header snatched his £1k profit and possibly his marriage too 1 Quote

The snow when it came was relentless. Not sure how but somehow made it out to Huntly by train and was then holed up there for a couple of days Quote
