tlg1903 Posted Thursday at 20:08 Report Posted Thursday at 20:08 Tidy finish 2bf, if you were being uber harsh you could maybe say the goalie could maybe do a little better given it's his near post. Quote
tlg1903 Posted Thursday at 20:48 Report Posted Thursday at 20:48 The Finnish keeper has caught the eye I have to say Quote
RicoS321 Posted Thursday at 20:57 Report Posted Thursday at 20:57 Decent game. Keskinen played well, although I thought he should have read the situation better for their equaliser, but he had run himself into the ground for ninety minutes, so maybe a bit harsh. Couple of the Finnish lads looked good. Quote
Jute Posted Thursday at 21:12 Report Posted Thursday at 21:12 Aye liked the look of Markhiev and Vaananen. Quote

You either kick both out or neither. Forest gone down in my estimations with their antics too. I trust Cormack has plans in place for the 2030 world club cup when both the Dons and Atlanta qualify Quote

Pedantic points aside that's pretty scandalous. Hope they win at CAS 1 Quote

Jute Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago Chelsea seem to have signed a belter of a player in Giovani Quenda. 2 goals and 1 assist in first 30 minutes for Portugal U21s against Poland. Games on 4seven (138 on Sky) in case anyone is bored. 1 Quote
tlg1903 Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago And now it's 4 in 40 minutes. Portugal are excellent. Quote

Panda Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago What's everyone's views on the club World Cup? Gonna be watching it? Think it's going to be shite? Think there's a future in it? Hope it crashes and burns? I don't think there's an clamour from fans to proclaim a world champion. I think PSG fans are happy enough to say they're the best in France & Europe, and proving they're better than some Brazilian team won't bother them. The World Cup is special because everyone can qualify for it. This is just another competition Aberdeen can forget about ever being in. And it's not the best 32 club teams in the world. It's not even the best European teams going. Hope, just for Infantino, it's a disaster. Quote

It is really is a needless tournament in an already crowded schedule. Cannot see how players who played at Euros and Copa America last season will not be knackered after playing in this. Fact that this also being played while Gold Cup is on as means devalues that competition as well. 2 Quote
Jute Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago Switched over to watch second half of France v Georgia. Georgia were 2-1 up going into last minute when France equalised then won it 12 minutes into injury time. Quote

It's not even the best European teams going. Hope, just for Infantino, it's a disaster. I'm very glad that I can watch the Dons most weeks and then switch off to all other football (Scotland aside). I do watch the occasional game on the telly (rarely a whole game), mainly the BBC Friday night championship, but there's not a single game in any competition that I feel I must watch. I often think that people (colleagues etc, rather than folk on here) think that I'm pretending when I say I couldn't care less about English football or champions league pish. Because I'm a football fan, I must automatically be attracted to the biggest league or tournaments (I do watch international tournaments, it still holds some enjoyment for now). They'll reel off some name of some famous English based player, and I genuinely won't have a clue who they're talking about. With this world club pish, I have no idea what it is and who it involves (I have some idea, but it's guesswork based on the name and your post). Football mirrors the rest of the world in that it views quantity as progress. More games, more money, bigger transfer fees, fitter players, stronger players etc etc. It's safe to say that football hasn't progressed at all in the last 35 years (bookended by two famous cup wins). It's just that the measures of progress are abstract and hollow, and have absolutely nothing to do with what sport means and its enjoyment. Hopefully this shite will be the tipping point* that starts the much needed collapse of the game (again, mirroring society). The saturation point reached. *alongside VAR of course Edited 14 hours ago by RicoS321 5 Quote
tlg1903 Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago (edited) I'm going to watch some of it but more just to have a look at some teams i would never likely get a chance to watch. Agree that the tournament exemplifies basically everything that is wrong with fifa but the opening game is a prime example. Al Ahly are one of the must successful African teams of all time but I've never watched them before. They are looking lively so far too, they should be ahead 2bh but they are defo not looking like they are here to make up the numbers. In fact I think quite a few of the big teams from the more ignored continents will be well up for this so we could see some interesting results. Edited 11 hours ago by tlg1903 Quote

manc_don Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago There is a ripple of interest here due to Auckland City participating, and football in general, having a bit more of a media interest. Kiwi teams, despite being the only amateur sides to take part, don’t often embarrass themselves on this stage, but I doubt the new format will suit them. regardless, I hope it fails. Fuck FIFA. 1 Quote
