manc_don Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 As Rico said in the other thread, a few players might be a bit leggy after the Shaktar game, but I really hope that that and the Motherwell game were the makings of the season starting to turn around. There was enough fight shown today to show that we could be a team. I'd like, if at all possible, to start with the same team, for consistencies sake, as it doesn't feel like we do that very often. If changes are needed later in the game, fine, but hopefully Devlin would be ok to retain his position at the very least. I'd try and give Lazetic a run as the no.9 and see if he can build on his recent performances. hopefully the goals will start to come. We really do need to a) score and b) get a positive result. I don't want to draw, but avoiding a loss and hopefully a moral boosting performance would do this team the world of good. Out Bed Bed Hopefully still bed, 12 hours time difference at the mo so don't wanna be waking up that early on a work day! 2-1 Dons, Shinnie and Lazetic 1 Quote
tlg1903 Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 You're such a part timer Manc This is arguably the biggest game of the season so far imo. A convincing win and we can maybe turn the relative positivity of the past few performances into genuine confidence that we have turned a corner and start looking up the table. Not a minute too soon either. Al was saying in the Shaktar thread that Thelin sounded far more positive and upbeat in his post match presser and I think that bodes well. It's understandable too, at times in that second half we actually looked like a football team again and long may that continue. Not that this is going to be a walkover. Pressley for all his eccentricity has done better than I thought he would and I'm expecting him to go with a tough nut to crack setup for this one. Defo start Jensen over Devlin just purely on the grounds that Nicky ran himself into the ground last night. Lazetic is an interesting dilemma as he also ran himself into the ground but he's only 21 so should handle it better from a fitness pov. Wouldn't be surprised to see Nisbet get the nod though and save Marco for the last 20 mins. Other than that I have no clue how we will line up or even if we will keep the 343. Fingers crossed 3-0 dons, Nisbet, Polvara and Lazetic Quote
Elgindon Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 (edited) In - Y Not sure what style of football Dundee are playing under Pressley, but they seem to have stabilised a bit recently(W1,D3,L2).If we can bring second half v Shaktar into this game, get an early goal,.....and then the confidence to get a few more... Shitty weather easing off by kick off Dons 3 - Dees 1 Lazetic,Nisbet x2 Edited October 3 by Elgindon Quote

I would actually try start all the guys that played well on Thursday (Devlin, Milne and Lazetic in particular) because their confidence will be high, that'll spread throughout the team, and there's also a bit of momentum there. Can always replace tired legs at half-time. We also have an international break after this anyway, so most of the squad will have a few days off next week anyway. Quote

The logic is sound but I've never seen Devlin look as burst as he did coming off on Thursday. Most likely because he's not actually started a lot of games and isn't fully match fit. I'm not sure he would be fit for more than 20 minutes on Sunday 2bh Quote

Was that before or after he took a knock because I don't recall that? Quote
Elgindon Posted October 4 Report Posted October 4 Prices been hiked at Pittodrie recently?.Just paid £31.50 the now for practically the same seat on section Y as a month ago, which cost £26. Extra levy for watching the Dundee Dynamos? Quote
OrlandoDon Posted October 4 Report Posted October 4 Despite the loss on Thursday, hearing some positivity from fans players and JT. Certainly hope we can build on it but certainly line up and formation questions for tomorrow. think we stick with the 3-5-2, hated it when we had it last but seems to work for this group. Our midfield group should all be fresh enough, none played more than 64 minutes on Thursday. I’d like to probably see the same starting 3 of Armstrong Clarkson and palaversa, but if it’s a flat 3 in midfield we still don’t have the holding anchor in the middle (like a sivert 5 or so years ago perhaps). I also think this 3 suits polvara better, hope he can be better off the bench. Shinnie also has a bigger impact I think with a 30 min second half cameo where he doesn’t need to pace himself. hopefully devlin is fresh enough, he hasn’t played a lot so while he ran himself into the ground Thursday, hope he’s fresh enough to go again. That’s a biggie for me, but also for the team. Wouldn’t be surprised to see gyamfi in for keskinen who played the full game Thursday. Up top really hope we run with lazetic and karlsson again. I have high hopes for both to kick on, both are pacey mobile and technical, think they could do well as a two and get some goals. think sivert polvara shinnie can provide a spark off the bench, plus as a two up top milanovic could also play there as well as obviously wide. i am one who think we have good players. I do think Armstrong karlsson Clarkson lazetic will finally get it and click, maybe this is the game. We’re due goals. as for Dundee, they aren’t good they aren’t bad. If we bring the Thursday second half attitude, and we are going to score goals at some point, we get a good league performance and win. 3-1 us. Lazetic karlsson clarkson Quote
OrlandoDon Posted October 4 Report Posted October 4 Got to get a win tomorrow. A must. If we win we’re 6 pts off third most likely. Wouldn’t be bad considering the season to date. Quote

Jute Posted October 5 Report Posted October 5 As much as Thursday was an improvement our opponents suited our style of play as they dominated possession. Not going to be the same today as it will be Dundee who will sit in and be happy not to have the ball. We need to find a way of creating space in Dundee back line. Hopefully Devlin will be able to start as he offers so much more than Jensen at right back. Not sure we need 3 centre back against Dundee so could we drop Dorrington and brining in Nisbet to play alongside Lazetic up front? According to my Dundee supporting brother if we can’t beat them then we should be worried as in his in-depth tactical analysis they are “fucking dug shite”. Game a few days to early for me to make so day on couch for me. oot couch couch couch 2-0 Karlsson and Nisbet Quote

Just play a 3-5-2. Best of both worlds. I'd give Karlsson a rest from the start and play Lazetic and Nisbet for an hour. Quote

So I phoned them up for an explanation.Games are charged in low/ high category.Apparently the Falkirk game was low (£26),and the Dundee one higher?? (£29).They also added on a £2.50 fee for picking the ticket up at the Merkland kiosk(wasnt a thing last season) Edited October 5 by Elgindon 1 Quote

Dorrington and kneuster will carry the ball forward, and it gives devlin and gyamfi/topi full opportunity to get forward and give us much needed width. They are not inverted, and going back to 2 back with wingers I’d assume means inverted which hasn’t really worked for us. I really hope we stick with 3 back, devlin and gyamfi wide, lazetic up top with karlsson. COYR! Edited October 5 by OrlandoDon 1 Quote
Jute Posted October 5 Report Posted October 5 Think that looks like 4 at the back with Jensen and Karlsson as width in midfield but not sure. Would really have liked 2 up front against Dundee. Quote

BigAl Posted October 5 Report Posted October 5 3-4-2-1 in my mind initially but who knows there are just so many different permutations in there. Unlike the Robson European season at least we are rotating the squad. Quote

Devlin played there when Tobers went off the other week, and it was fine. It takes away from Devlin's game a bit, but if he's the fitter of him and Dorrington, then there's no issue with him playing right centre back if they want to maintain the back three. To be honest, I quite like to see us use the squad in that way. It would also mean that Devlin has to do less running, but also gives him game time. I think it will be along the lines of how we finished the Motherwell game. Quote

All players coached to play roles and formations. Takes time (as we are seeing), certainly hope it comes off. I still think it’s a 3-5-2, Jensen and gyamfi wide, Armstrong sit with shinnie and aouchiche on either side? Quote
redordead Posted October 5 Report Posted October 5 No idea what the plan is. Surprised by number of changes. Thought lazetic deserved a chance as nisbet has been anonymous. Big gamble for me if it doesn't work. Quote
