You could always go and watch Hearts in the league cup group stages.

Saw a stat yesterday that Aston villa earned twice as much for playing champions league compared to spurs who won the Europa league, something like 80m to 40m.
Anyone know the financial difference between us playing Europa league or conference league? Assuming we win the competition we play in, given our current success and habit of winning trophies.

This/ last season teams in conference were given €3.17 for reaching the group/league.

Win a game €400k

Draw €133k

Europa league clubs got €4.31

Win a game €450k

Draw £150k

In contrast champions league group stage teams got €18.62

Win €2.1mil

Draw £700k

Good to know, appreciate that. Sounds like it’s not that much difference between Europa and conference. We will see the bump playing CL in 2026-27.

Should add spurs and man utd each got 7m for reaching the final. Spurs got an extra 6m for winning (plus next seasons champs league group cash)

Chelsea and Betis will get 4m each with the winner getting an extra 3m

Inter Milan and PSG each get 18.5m with the winner getting an additional 6.5m

Those sums are fuck all to most if not all those clubs whereas to the likes of Bodo/ Glimt and Djurgaden it could have been club changing

Aye there's not much difference between euro and conf league cash wise.  You could argue the conference is a better option for a club our size as we are more likely to progress.  Hearts should have got out of their group but, unfortunately for them, they are Hearts.

I have decided we should lose Europa league play off and drop into Conference league as the final of it is in Leipzig and winning a final there will be much better than winning one In Istanbul. Plus Turkish beer is shite.

So where does everyone fancy heading.

I've been to a fair few places with Aberdeen but the twice I can remember us drawing Italians I haven't been at the away games.

Juve in the early seventies even I was too young

Torino in the early nineties, had a young family to keep a roof over their heads and to feed

I know, a shocking lack of priorities on my behalf

Anywhere not stabby and ideally accessible using conventional airlines. Any ex-Soviet countries can get fucked.

Riga and Tallinn cops still not taken your poster down from reception then?

Currently (subject to change) these are the projected teams we could face.

Riejka won the Croatian title so Dynamo Zagreb now potentially in the seeded teams

Apparently not. Zagreb will either be in the Conference League qualifiers, or will get direct entry into the Europa league groups.

It's because the two Conference League finalists (Chelsea and Real Betis) don't need the automatic EL spot they would get from winning the Conference League final, so the spot goes to the highest ranked EL qualifier, which will be Zagreb or Shakhtar.

This is the updated list of possible play-off opponents. A lot of it is based on projections though, and not all of it on the seeded team winning, more the 'favourites', so it's only a rough idea at the moment.

There is a small chance enough seeded teams could be knocked out, meaning Aberdeen could be seeded.

Likewise, if Aberdeen did make the group stage, they would more than likely be in pot 4.

The new format means we would play two teams from each of the four pots, with four home games and four away.

The top 8 make the last 16. The next 8 are seeded for the knockout play-offs, and the following eight are unseeded. Just need to avoid finishing in the bottom 12 to advance.

Going by last year's table, 11 was enough to progress, and one team on 10 points made it through (A post-Jimmy Thelin Elfsborg also got 10 points, but missed out on goal difference).

Someone is going to have your head for posting that in the Europa league group...

Am I right in thinking that of the 36 teams listed there, only five have won European trophies, us being one of them? (The others bring Fiorentina, Kyiv, Forest and Donetsk).
