  1. this has been so fucking cringe
  2. There's plenty of reasons we have VAR not just offside calls. Yeah that's not how it would work, why would you start the clock when the vidoe tech is arranging the replays for watching? I would see it as the ref watches the game alone on a two screen setup. When a replay is asked for the VT arranges that and sends it to the refs second screen and the clock starts. Send him three angles at once and he can move it forward and back in time, it's really all you should need. If deemed worthy before the clock is out it is sent to the refs screen. The only time the fans should even know it's been checked is when the ref gets called to the screen. Clear and obvious is what it was supposed to be for though and I don't find it particularly nebulous. If Var officials have to resort to drawing lines to tell whether someone is off or not then, imo anyway, it should be benefit of the doubt to the attacking team and play on. I disagree, I think it would remove some controversy because it would eliminate long delays and re-refereeing of the game. I never said it would solve subjective decision making 2bf but that's not something that can be solved anyway. I do, however, think it would encourage a bit more pragmatism into the VAR process and cunt tech for cunts as it may be I don't think that would be a bad thing. Ok you're entitled to your opinion re celebration but I think you're a bit off with how it would go. When a goal gets reviewed we usually have a good idea already if it was going to be or not and celebrations can be muted as a result. The only time you get a proper bounce these days imo is a goal from outside the box as you're not worrying about offside and the player is usually in a bit of space so unlikely to be commiting a foul. Var's biggest sin for me. FWIW I actually largely agree with you about VAR but I just don't see it going anywhere anytime soon.
  3. Disagree. The boundary for clear and obvious is a person's eyes and brain working together to make the judgment. I can usually tell on the first replay whether a decision is correct. 2bh 10 seconds to make the call is generous and you could argue 5 would be enough. Regardless though it would stop the re refereeing of the game from the VAR official because they simply wouldn't have the time to. No big delays and yet still able to bail the ref out when they have had a mare is what fans wanted from Var in the first place. The Lazetic goal is actually a good example as it's a really tight call. It's certainly not instantly obvious whether he's on or off and var officials would soon learn to not even bother looking at decisions like that imo. They would instinctively know there's no point poring over millimeters because they would never have the time to come to a conclusive decision. If that was the case your prediction of fans counting down is unlikely 2bh (aside from the fact that to do so they would need to know when the var ref actually started watching replays... ) as on marginal calls the var ref would not need to use the allocated time to say "play on". We get it Rico, you don't like VAR. It's unlikely to be going anywhere though and getting the rid of the big delays would make it easier to live with.
  4. Whether fans blame him or not my feeling was when seeing him at ft on wed that I think he defo blames himself. What's most frustrating for me is I thought he looked far more like himself against Livi. If he has a poor game against Dundee then you could argue he should probably be dropped for a few games as his confidence will be shot.
  5. Or at Uefa and Fifa
  6. I sometimes pay attention to the ashes score but that's about it. When I was in the airforce one weekend a couple of pals took me to the pub to watch the ashes promising they would explain the rules. I was really surprised when they massively spat the dummy 20 minutes in on realising I was supporting Australia. My Welsh pal who was also with us said the look of disdain I gave them when they told me I should be supporting England was glorious. It still makes me chuckle thinking about it.
  7. A countdown clock would be a very easy way to make VAR significantly better. If you can't tell if it's an error within ten seconds of seeing replays then it's not clear and obvious, play on.
  8. The first was never a pen but St mirren should have had the lead in the first half with a goal wrongly chopped off for a foul on Mitov. Goals 2 and 3 for them are littered with mistakes and whilst Mitov should have saved at least one of them it's not all on him. That said that does feel like one of his worst performances of the season and from the look of him at full time he knows it. What's frustrating is I thought he was really solid against Livi and looked far more like himself. I think we are defo getting into Thelin has a decision to make territory.
  9. One of my Aberdeen group chats on what's app is called the "Nicky Devlin appreciation society" for very good reason. Absolutely adore him!
  10. No mate, I just think Milanovic is starting to settle after moving from the other side of the world and fingers crossed we are going to start seeing a lot more from him.
  11. I don't usually either but when he said his farewells I genuinely believed at the time he meant it and he loved the club. I also honestly thought he would want to come back at the tail end of his career if the stars aligned too. As you say, we all see things differently but football wise this was the sorest knife in the back I've personally experienced following the dons.
  12. I've got to be honest I hate Miovski far more. As detestable as an Aberdonian hun is, that is the team the wee rat was raised to support. I.e his loyalty was never with us despite being with the club since a kid. Jack never greeted on the pitch whilst kissing the badge. Jack never went on Instagram saying "moving forward I'll be the club's biggest supporter". Jack was never truly a traitor because he was never one of us in the first place. Miovski is 100% a traitor, he let us believe he was one of us and loved the club so when I heard he was signing for them it hurt far more than Jack or Barron.
  13. If he does have a sensitive side he's REALLY not going to enjoy coming back to Pittodrie. I genuinely think it will be at least as toxic as when Jack came back the first time but probably more. You always love a goal scorer more than a def mid after all
  14. I don't live in Aberdeen so it's harder for me to judge how well this will go down. From the outside looking in though can I ask, do the club not have a point? Would the city not benefit hugely from this project as well as the bonus of keeping AFC within the city? I mean, if you think of all the money the club has brought into the Aberdeen economy over the years and bear in mind the club has never been outwith the top flight since reaching it. That's a lot of away fans spending a lot of money in bars, hotels, restaurants, taxis etc since 1903.
  15. Shots fired! The cynic in me suspects the club is trying to use a convenient provocation to put this into the public domain 18 months out from council elections.
  16. I also thought he would cope with the step up in standard. Injury didn't help him at Girona, nor did the fact they were regressing massively from the success they were having the previous season. I do wonder what went on behind the scenes there as he wasn't prepared to go on loan, insisting on a permanent transfer, and Girona sold him for a cut price too. That reeks of big falling out with the staff. As for his hun form it's pleasing to watch the hordes of mordor start to hate him but unft I suspect it's temporary. Unless they stick him out on loan in Jan he'll likely start scoring eventually and all sins will be forgiven.
  17. Too busy at work to get off early enough to make the trip. So far in the league I have missed Dundee and Hearts so we are sure to win on that basis. Keskinen has to start for me. Past few games he has looked so much more aware of what is going on around him (I genuinely wonder if Lutz had a chat with him about that on arrival as his improved play does seem to coincide with that timing) and long may that continue. Gyamfi wasn't on the bench on Sunday, has he picked up another knock does anyone know? Jensen will probably come back in to freshen legs though no idea which side. He's another player that to my eye seems to be improving a wee bit though not to the level of Keskinen. Couch Rtv Couch I don't care about St mirrens shit form, I still regard them as our bogey team and it will take more than the win in paisley to shake that anxiety when playing them. Any kind of win and I'll be delighted but I'll go 2-0 good guys. Topi and Milanovic.
  18. I said I would take any kind of win and I stand by that. Overall a fortunate win but whilst Mitov (who was good today, didn't look shaky at all) had a few saves to make most of them were fairly routine. The subs brought us right back into it I felt. We started keeping the ball more consistently and I wasn't surprised when we scored as I felt the pendulum had swung in our favour. Particularly pleasing was Topi making more good decisions when he came on and not just the assist. I wonder if something has just clicked in his head recently as that's a few games now he hasn't made a particularly stupid choice. Agree Adil had a good game but with the fixture congestion we have in front of us it's understandable he was subbed. Polvara was solid when he came on.
  19. Does anyone know who it is?
  20. We defo signed the wrong Yenghi. Pretty much every ball to him has stuck to him like glue.
  21. Agreed, they are passing around us for fun
  22. Back to a back 4, could be a 4231 or a 433.
  23. He has a year and a half left with the option of an extra year. I suspect on current form he's already out of our price range and will probably go down south in January.
  24. This situation really is quite bizarre when I think about it. We haven't lost in over a month, our last league game we beat the league leaders yet no-one is overly confident about going to the bottom of the table team and getting a win.
