  1. Did dodds not score one in a 2-2 draw there?
  2. I think its pretty clear that our drop in form is in direct correlation to mcdonald getting injured but even more so since seve has been moved into midfield to cover. In recent games the defence has been all over the place and i reckon its cos seve isnt there to run it. If you look at all fergie's great centre back pairings there has been a brains and a brawn. Eg Miller told mcleish who to go in hard on and mcleish then went and nailed him. It was the same with bruce and pallister and now ferdinand and vidic. Lee Mair is not enough of a leader on the park to play the miller role and zander is clearly the mcleish. We need to get seve back in the defence.
  3. This was always going to be a really tough game after they took a shoeing at the tattiebowl.
  4. its the wright stuff!!!!!
  5. He was good at ict but everywhere else he's done a bernard and had illicit affairs with the physio table. Cant have very hot tables in the highlands
  6. Totally agree with everything said there. this would be my starting line up for st's game clangers vidal, mair, zander, foster kerr, seve, mulgrew aluko mackie, wright Logic behind this is that a mulgrew is looking shaky at the back but he's a good passer and obviously his set pieces are a real weapon. Also he is more than adept playing in midfield, he played many games there for utd. I'd rather have foster at LB when all is said and done, he's not outstanding there but is reasonably solid and has the pace to get him out of trouble. Aluko would have a free role behind the strikers.
  7. aye you've got a fair few there, odds on jimmy comes up with one you dont though. I'll go wright and either mackie or bebo. miller needs dropped to get his head together
  8. I dont think hearts have slipped away from us just yet, there are 30 points to be played for after all. I said in another post that we have always come good in the last quarter under jc and hoepfully that will continue to be the case. As others have said the drop in form seems to be directly related to gary mcdonald being out of the side, hopefully smith can emulate some of the creativity that mcdonald gave us. Lets not get too down folks, we have had some bad luck in all this too. Hitting the post in the last minute at tynecastle for example though speaking of hearts i cant help but be impressed by how well they have coped without berra, thought they were going to cave big time when he left
  9. Well that sounded bollocks
  10. Agreed aj, arab win is probably the best result. Providing we win it would leave 2 points between the 3 teams and i fancy us going into the final quarter, We've finished strongly every season under calderwood
  11. Totally agree, mcdonald has more than filled the shoes of nicholson. When our squad is fully fit i'd say we can have anyone in our league but the lack of depth particularly midfield is scary
  12. anyway, does anyone know how young sammy has been getting on?
  13. thought clark was brought in as a striking coach
  14. cheers boys
  15. Clearly the weakest part of calderwoods management style is youth development. bebo would have flourished ages ago if given more of an opportunity in a striking role as opposed to being lumped onto the wings
  16. as frustrating as smith is with injury's im glad he's clearly not being rushed. Its getting to business end of the season and a fully fit smith would really sharpen our claws up front, lets hope he can get a good run under his belt. reckon he'll make the bench for the killie game
  17. i wonder how many "darren mackie must go" threads i have seen over the years? Must be at least 30-40. Dont care though, i quite like mackie. Why when he's clearly not that good? Well he really puts a shift in, has a record of scoring important goals, told utd to get to fuck when offered as part ex for miller, and whilst not a consistent goal threat he is right pain in the arse for defenders to play against. Also in recent years his touch has improved considerably (in the skovdahl years an exploding land mine would keep better control off a pass) and finally the guy would go through a brick wall for aberdeen. You NEED people like this in your squad, helps keep the other players motivated. I think he is a player that is always going to divide the support but in the 10 years he's been in the 1st team he's done more good than bad i reckon
  18. Was wondering how the lad sammy stuart has been playing
  19. 2 fucking months? thats pretty much the same amount of time as the close season. No festivals in winter to look forward to either. Fuck that!!!!!! if your going to have a winter break then make it from xmas to the 3rd week in jan. Yes you might still get snow but thems the breaks
  20. that is a really interesting idea kelt. It will never fly under the current rules cos as you say the old firm would not have their CL carrot and would therefore stand together and veto it. east coast league sounds pretty good as your pretty much getting the best of the spl outwith the gruesome twosome. West coast league sounds shite though. OF, falkirk, st mirren, killie, minkerwell, hamilton, morton, partick and ayr. would be boring as hell. I think the most realistic improvement would be a 16 team league so teams only playing each other twice. 20 is unfeasable as there would be no one left in the lower leagues capable of the step up. the league cup would have to be revamped, perhaps into a sort of champions league format, so as to make up the missing revenue from losing 7 league games.
  21. not convinced mulgrew is any way cut out to be a full back. His height seems to be a hindrance to him when he's up against midget wide players. Ideally i think he is best suited in a central mid position
  22. things were wierd under ebbe. it was like the rules of supporting a football team were suspended. I remember us taking a total shoeing to someone at pittodrie and the entire stadium singing one ebbe skovdahl as the full time whistle went. Very strange!
  23. Smiths injury?
  24. Time to change the name again maybe?
  25. surely tim cunt is more appropriate. he did turn us down though when he went to utd
