  1. Anyone at Hampden yesterday would have realised what passion, traditional and historical football rivalry is about. They would have felt at with the goals. Biggest emotional goal celebrations I have ever experienced in 40+ years of football. Frenzied and very close to a 1977 Pitch invasion moment.
  2. Aberdeen South is traditionally or was a Conservative seat in the 70's and 80's and indeed in 90's. When you calculate that Aberdeen South includes the West End and the outer suburbs of Bieldside, Cults, Milltimber and Peterculter why are people so surprised that many of these people support Tory views or have these views? Personally, I blame home ownership and people like Stewart Milne - massive Tory funder and supporter.
  3. Democratic Unionists are loyalist Christians the same as Ulster Unionists but with a more Christian foundation i.e. Ian Paisley - anti-abortion, they dislike gays, anti-SNP. Basically symbolically DUP they are on the same page as a certain team from Ibrox basically closely linked to Orange Order bands, masonry, William of Orange, 1690 and Protestant marching band triumphalism. Politically, it's probably better for someone Northern Irish to comment on it all and what DUP do but underneath it all, I suppose Northern Ireland is a deeply divided nation with two sides and the DUP represent that small section of the Ulster community i.e. Protestant community and all it represents historically, culturally so fairs fair IMO not that I particularly like them! DUP - Links with Rangers Just after Rangers went kapoot in 2012 the DUP spoke out against the SFA and Scottish Football establishment and how Rangers were being punished for the 'sins' of others. When Rangers reformed the DUP (Peter Robinson former leader) played host to dinners in Belfast between new RFC directors etc and brokered games against Glentoran and Linfield to raise money for Rangers. Current DUP leader Arlene Foster and co-leader of DUP are supporters of Rangers and were at Ibrox in May. They were electioneering in West Scotland and got photos with many Rangers players at the 1-5 game i.e. inside Ibrox.
  4. My understanding was that people in certain places (Banff, Buchan, Peterhead, Fraserburgh) have voted against SNP via Conservatives as they want to leave EU and that Conservative will protect these theses interests via this Brexit negotiations mullarkey. Given there would appear to be universal agreement amongst those in the fishing industry that the Common Fishing Policy is detrimental to the industry and that Fraserburgh is the biggest shellfish port in Europe it's hardly surprising lots of people voted Conservative is it i.e. towards protecting Brexit interests. In addition, although I never voted, yes or no people are very fed of this romantic delusion of Scottish independence when its clear its something that is never going to be voted through. As many of us witnessed in Autumn 2014 these independence referendums are nasty, divisive, divide families, friends and workplaces. In my street, I live it was one of most unpleasant months I can remember - verging on obsession. I would presume people in Aberdeen South have voted conservative as a means of telling SNP - sorry, we don't want another referendum. My guess would be that is the end of 'Scottish independence' question for 25 years anyway. (hopefully )
  5. Ok. I'm just repeating parallels spoken about by BBC (2010 election had similar outcome) that election led to Lib Dems/Con coalition approach which led to the student fees fiasco. Frankie Boyle made a pun on TV as to 'Sinn Fein MP's' joining a Corbyn coalition. I suspect such an outcome was a joke given the impact it would have on Ireland 'question'.
  6. Disclaimer: I'm not a fan of David Cameron or the Conservative party or any elite Oxbridge Eton type or a fan of any partisan political Party to be honest but I would guess any politician could see he (Cameron) at least was leadership material. Even Nicola Surgeon said he was. but from I just saw on TV a similar scenario existed in May 2010 and a coalition was formed between Lib Dems and Conservative. From what I guess if Teresa May has called an election and lost out on gaining a majority she may have no option but to step aside leaving the way for Sturgeon, Corbyn and this other fella and probably throw in Sein Fein as well (according to Frankie Boyle).
  7. Yeah, horrible looking wifie that Teresa May. Reminds me of some horrible looking headmistress or a High Court judge. David Cameron at least was leadership material and had a leadership aura but his decision to do EU referendum cost him his job. Teresa May be going same way as Cameron - no expert or even interested in politics but I would guess she would have to resign if she gets no majority - no? Milliband was just a posh berk that even younger people could not identify with. Seems younger people (people with serious gripes about student loans, housing etc) REAL ISSUES may have made a statement to May. This country is away to head into a massive period of uncertainty if this exit poll mularky is true. Only thing certain is if Lib Dems go into partnership with Teresa May to form a govt then that guy (whatever his name is at Lib Dems) god help him.
  8. Not really, I think Celtic are stockpiling players for a shot (delusion) at getting to last 16 of CL. It ain't going to happen and they could win SPL with Stephen Fry in midfield. I understand totally why Hayes would go to Celtic - money talks and AFC dont have it - fact of life they have 55k season books sold, but he ain't going to get a regular game for them neither will Christie. I think Aberdeen and SPL is his level.
  9. 7k season tickets - not many, poor. I can understand why so few. I wouldn't buy a season ticket either and no need to even buy one for AFC in SPL. Even if the club reaches 2 finals tickets finals are easily sourced. Ibrox ticket - easy, semi-final - easy, Europe - easy. Just join a supporter club, no need for a season book. The club has made no effort to improve the atmosphere at Pittodrie. Prices have gone up (shocking price entry and very bad value). The club has been giving away tickets for the Merkland for years tells you all you need to know.
  10. Hibs have sold 11,600 season tickets so far (start of June).
  11. I understand all that - money on offer from Celtic being far better. Of course, he has a wee lad so everyone plans for the future. But I keep hearing footballers say its about playing. GMS doesnt get a game. Christie could not get a game for them. Hayes will in all honesty not get a regular game for them especially if they blow £6m on Roberts.
  12. The worrying thing about all of this Hayes chase is to me it looks like Celtic are just stock piling players for the sake of it. Fine money in bank but look what happened at United? Jonny is a fine player, but is he gonna get a regular game? You really telling me Roberts £6m due to be signed from City will not be first choice. Hayes has a young family and treble money comes in handy but I keep hearing footballers saying they "just want to play" well I'd argue with Hayes that he potentially ain't gonna get a game. Christie, GMS also can't get a game for them and neither is Griffiths first choice. Aberdeen isn't where the world ends but sorry Jonny your bette off in AB24 as at Celtic Park chances are you'll be a squad player at best.
  13. Strange the way people that want good players for AFC on the pitch also want £50m spunked on a new stadium mortgage that will saddle the club with huge debt for 20 years. This is a club with 10k season ticket holders that cannot get people in the door and who want to move 6miles outside the city. You really think £50m spent on a stadium will allow funds to be released for player purchases for next 20 years? I would have thought you do not have to be S.Hawking to work out that if they get £1.3m? for Hayes that it goes a long way to paying for a training ground of some sort with pitches etc. And a significantly smaller mortgage would entail. Hibs training ground cost £4.5m, the Thistle one is costing £4m. Longer decision makers go on farting about with a training ground idea especially if you package it up with stadium the longer there is no outcome whatsoever which does nothing for the players and more importantly the manager who must be getting more and more pissed off every year as regards non delivery. May I remind you this has been going on since 1999!
  14. Unfortunately the training ground issue is tied up now in a certain other strategic aim. It means the players are in limbo. If you asked Del what he wants more than anything, and you asked the players what they want and need its the training ground. If McInnes and Hayes go that is more than 50% paid for it already. If Hayes alone goes (which seems odds on and at £1.3m this is an excellent deposit for the training ground mortgage) is this £1m++ going to be splattered on shite or on some proper investment. Thistle are getting money from that couple who won the Euromillions - can Aberdeen not use this same funding source?
  15. What about the club remove itself from its dogmatic approach to joint training and stadia facilities and invest the whole £1.3m (approx) they get for Hayes in a dedicated patch of grass for a training place? What can be done with 2 or 3 grass pitches and 2 x 4G pitches for all AFC players of any age group? A club of Aberdeen's size don't need a Milanello. I read today McInnes to Sunderland will generate £1m release cause. If this eventuality occurs the club have serious money in its coffers. Much rather see serious money invested in a long term training facility than blown on players wages.
  16. I agree with you. I think there is a little sentimentalism in the purchase (possible) of Hayes by Rodgers. He was his coach at Reading when he first came to the UK. The move to Celtic will make him a squad filler. He wont play every week - possibly not at all if the also buy Roberts back and a few others. Why would a club that last week said they are targeting Champions League Last 16 target Hayes above other players? Is he of the calibre to take Celtic to that level - no IMO. Its quite possible we could sell Hayes for £1m+ and he could end up back on loan to us. I fully appreciate the motivation to move. More money and chance to play in CL or EL groups stages - he has a young family. But Hayes probably needs to ask himself question whether he will get a regular game - does he enjoy sitting on bench watching on?
  17. A man with a dog who knows my auntie's Jeanies cousin.
  18. Yes, he is the only one who has came out and hinted at it. Respect for that but what happened to him - he got accused of being monsterous by Boris whatever his name is for saying it. Of course its complex - it not a case of black and white given the religious stuff involved. Who would defend these islamic nutcases - they are morons. But UK politicians have created a climate for these nutters - just created a climate of division and an enemy. Wasting millions and millions on needless wars. I'm not anti-war as sometimes they are required but certainly very anti all that crappy wars in middle east. Interfering in political, ethnic and religious stuff we should have kept out that has led to all stuff going on.
  19. Agree entirely. I'm sitting watching news 24 and listening to same phoney rhetoric come out of the mouths of Politicians in the UK. 'Bravery of the police' 'Brave Hero soldiers' 'Stand together' 'They will never break us' 'Democracy will win' This bullcrap is compounded by empty nonsense on 'twitter' from Trump. etc etc etc etc Political parties (Labour and Conservative are equally to blame) have caused and created a climate for these atrocities we see. From arms dealing to secret info through to failed security (MI5???) all they have done is created hate, division, opponents and an enemy. No doubt they will be dropping bombs on Syria next week, killing people like they did in Libya, Afganistan, Iraq and tag those who did it 'heroes'. They don't want to admit the truth - failed foreign policy. But some of us humble footy bods on here can see it and feel the truth. We are clever enough to see it but they (politicians) can't admit it. One of the reasons why I won't be voting for anyone Thursday - politicians are idiots. They will lead us to oblivion.
  20. £750k plus Christie for 'a season' and he cannot play v Celtic. If that is true it is utterly bonkers.
  21. Yeah, a lot of folk like to diss Anti Kingsford people, they like to come on here like keyboard evangelists and be crass and poke fun at me (Oxford dons) being one. But they don't want to look at integral bigger picture that ITS THE CLUB AND THOSE WHO OCCUPY POSITIONS OF POWER AND DECISIONS who are letting down our players by not putting in place training facilities and continually making FUCK UPS in planning since 1999. Make no mistake, Kingsford is on the way out. You can come on here and say why you want but it doesn't bother me. But I know for a fact no training ground pisses off the players and the manager and it won't be long before they all bail out frustrated with the continual balls ups being made.
  22. Ok, the £1m will pay for the impending replan.
  23. Giggs taking over at Sunderland may cause alarm amongst Sunderlands players as regards SAFC WAGS. After all the guy can't keep his trousers up.
  24. £1m fee for Hayes will pay for new toilets at Kingsford.
  25. Losing Jack has engineered one hell of a lot of whippy ass nonsense - he is easily replaced. But transfer of Hayes is if anything a massive huge blow - this is the main man, the best player gone out the door at £1m. Crosses, pace, tracking back, goals all lost. To me he looks like another GMS, Willo Flood, Robson signing for Celtic i.e. a squad filler who won't get a regular game. I can understand why he would go - loads of money, more media scrutiny, international prospects. What WILL be infuriating is where the £1m+ ends up. The club have no excuses now to invest some of it in a couple of good players or on big wage packets. It is so crucial good players come in. Offer Maloney 5k a week for example on a 2 year deal.
