  1. I can even keep you guys up to date with next steps if you'ze want. 1: Local Elections in Council - today 2: Planning assessments continue 3: Pre-determination meeting (with council) NIMBY's will be present as well George Yule. 4: Council makes final judgement announcement 20.06.17 on Kingsford 5: Local Press reactions to decision 6: George Yule goes back to board and asks for next steps guidance 7: AFC Board make strategic decision of what to do next. The cycle of application will either start again (amended) or they look at alternative sites. Meantime the pitch is getting relaid and to be honest Derek McInnes has got better things to do as by end of June we will be preparing for Europa League and 2017 season.
  2. flogging a dead horse? Aye, they (AFC) have been doing that for ages.
  3. Bud/Fellow Red....... That story (concerns about trouble) appeared on NKS website after Rangers game. It came out of the alleged goings on pre/post Rangers game at Pittodrie. P&J written about it today I don't know why? There was a congregation of Germans here to follow Aberdeen and a couple buses of Rangers fans looking for a barny at Rangers game. Supposedly there was some sort of word on the street about a pre-arranged punch up down the harbour. It could be a case of 2+2 = 7 with that scenario but it seems there was a casuals element to it all. On both sides and folk looking for a barny. None the less, i would agree that football violence would not really be a serious issue in Westhill but where are all the folk looking for a bevvy going to go?? Rangers fans and Celtic fans come up by trains or buses drop them off in town. Not everyone gets bussed in and out. You should know that there are a lot of knob ends in both sides of support. The 'publicity' these people (No Kingsford - I am not a member of them and don't live in Westhill) have given to these concerns puts more pressure on Council as regards this matter i.e. Kingsford. Kingsford Will/Will not go ahead because of away fans concerns. It will not be given the go ahead as the transport infrastructure around the stadium and the plans to get people in and out was written on the 'back of a fag packet' by George Yule. Its all in contradiction of local authority strategy and national visions. Great idea Kingsford - sorry, not going to work. Wrong location, poorly planned.
  4. Probably quiet as nothing much to reacte to, plus the kingsford stadium idea is in its death throws anyway. #dyingonitsarse
  5. The word ' racism' gets over used nowadays IMO. Having watched football live in 23 different countries I have witnessed and heard racism in Italy, Russia but not in modern era until this issue at Ibrox recently. Working in London I took a fair bit of baiting about being Scottish but it doesn't bother me. Plus its not really being judged on skin colour - I saw it as banter and not a race/ethnicity issue. The racism I encountered in Scotland was monkey chanting about Mark Walters at Pittodrie during 80's/90's. Speaking about hundreds of people chanting when he touched the ball. I cant say it was deep seated 'racism' but certainly it was a product of the times. I have not heard any 'racism' at Pittodrie since that era. I have seen Rangers fans giving Nazi salutes recently. Racism is a huge problem in Italy and in Russia inside the stadium every weekend. It's possibly a product of society and more of an issue at FA level given that we here in the UK have spoken out greatly about the matter. I don't buy the arguments that managers who are black are at a disadvantage. That sort of institutional racism exists in certain occupations but not football. Its generally accepted that you can't make racist comments in the UK in any place - workplaces, football stadia etc. If you say something racist nowadays and its recorded, or noted and reported then you will appear in court and get a criminal record. What I do find curious is the blurred lines between nationalism and race/ethnicity that seems to raise its ugly head at international football. Some of the stuff I hear at England and Scotland games are not really acceptable things really and it's far more than banter. I have also heard certain anthems of various national teams being booed at Hampden Park in last 5 years. I would not call that 'racist' but it shows a lack of respect for other nations and the often diverse cultures they have e.g. 15k fans booing a Northern Ireland anthem is understandable given politics in Scotland but its not really basically acceptable is it? At England games I have been to a few and seen hundreds of yobs singing songs with racial tones and themes. So to answer your questions Racism is a huge issue in Italy and Russia inside the stadium. I dont think its a big problem these days in Scotland or England. People know its a crime. You need to differentiate between ignorant comments people make in everyday life and comments/actions made inside stadiums. Aberdeen is not a diverse city really (it' has a village mentality) but it's a far more open minded city in 2017 than it was in the 80's. I would suggest race is also a problem at Rangers games purely on the basis of this 'nationalism' thing -aformentioned above. Having said that, it was one individual doing stupid things after a Sinclair goal in a 50,000 crowd. Is he actually 'racist' or just a thick moronic idiot?
  6. Its easy to get mixed up. And remember its a fotba forum - I am not high and mighty (I am 5'8") and I don't know (dinna kain) who you are! Although I disagree with you as I would rather see Stockley play than Rooney. And I cannot understand how Rooney plays every week as he stands about like a gooseberry doing not much. He is woeful at a Lee Miller role (i.e. control, lay off). Surely he (rooney) could be a good impact sub.
  7. I have read your post FFS! You intimated in words or another that the ref was 'bought' v St'J's and there were 'irregular patterns'. Wider this is part of some sort of SFA, Ladbrokes inspired conspiracy to get Rangers 2nd. It's basically not realistic is it? As a club we need to rise above shi*e like that. The 2nd place will be won by playing well v Hearts and especially laying down a marker when they play Rangers at Ibrox. Not crumbling and going to pieces as per normal.
  8. I think you've made a very valid point for a fitba forum as basically football forums are for fans (like you & me) to moan and slate refs weekly. It's like that at every club globally. But no point finger jabbing that ref from Saturday - the players messed up clearly it was a pass back. Clearly the wall was a catastrophe.
  9. He (Muir) booked 3 players from each team. Nothing to do with referee Dons lost game. Garbage decision making by players. Face facts there is not a single referee in Scotland, England, Spain, Italy who fans don't gripe about it. Its just a fact of life.
  10. Your sentiments are perfectly understandable. I fully appreciate as to why you feel the referee was against 'us'. Its called supporting your team, and being irrational and wearing (insert colour) glasses. Up and down country fans gripe about referee - its just way it is no matter what team you support. But there is a difference between griping about the ref and stating they are being 'bought' - thats garbage. To bring to your attention Alan Muir was referee when we beat Motherwell 7-2, and was the referee when we defeated Dundee 7-0 and then St.J's game. I did watch the game - in detail. I saw a pants aberdeen performance and we lost v St.Johnstone not because of a referee, lost because a player (the captain) did a pass back inside box that the keeper picked up and a wall that broke faster than a wall without cement. Please familiarise yourself with the pass back rule. So Alan Muir record with us this season is: Games: 3 Goals for: 14 Against: 4 In addition he refereed Killie v Rangers and denied Rangers two pens meaning it ended 0-0. We lost v St Johnstone because the team did not do the basics right. In this case stupid pass back and a wall than broke up before the free kick was taken.
  11. Well you better hope you have a good day out, and we get at least a goal and fight. Because you know what happened at Hampden at the end of November.
  12. 1: Its goalkeeper error, should never pick the ball up in box like that. It was clear as night as day free kick. 2: They need to spend this week organising walls in training. As the wall they set up for the free kick fell to pieces before it was taken. Shambolic disorganised.
  13. I'd hope the current team at Celtic are not benchmarking themselves against a Celtic European Cup winning team from 60's/70's as that team were - no comparison. They (Celtic) had a European Semi Final v Leeds Utd 4 days after they played us. But totally different for us as well - mentality wise this Dons team are fragile. Not in anyway proved themselves in a pressure situation aside from 2014 LCF when we won pens shoot out hands down. Our record in Glasgow is absymal at both Parkhead and Ibrox. Reaching final for me and lots of people I know is a day out. Enjoy the day. Personally, if we don't win the cup (which looks odds on likely) I just want to see the team compete, score a goal and wear that shirt with pride on the day as team in 1970 did. We will probably lose but we just want the team, manager not to let us down. Just don't let us down.
  14. "I honestly think the referee was paid off.......he was so blatantly against us". Any football forum, any Saturday evening the length and breadth of the UK and probably globally there are fans of a football team who lost saying the same thing. The referee was 'all against us'. Change record bud.
  15. They Under 20's are mid table. Having said that even when the Under 20's win the league (a team that included Driver, Langfield, Shankland and Robson) very few of them got in the team. I think it is thoroughly unfair and detrimental to the development of players that they do not get a game regularly. Ross, Wright are clearly eager and want a game but cannot get a proper crack at things. Funnily enough Wright got a game v Daugava Riga who were more or less an amateur pub team. The only way young players like Wright, Ross can get a game is if they go on loan to Alloa or get 3 minutes in a dead game. Under 20's have been a quasi Peterhead/Deveronvale reserves feeder club for years. McInnes clearly sticks with players even when they are off form e.g. Rooney, McGinn. WORSE he chooses instead to give nonsensical signings waste of money singings e.g. Jeremy Monakana, Josh Parker a game at the expense of young talent that the club have invested in personally and professionally. This cant be right? Its a bad approach, can't be healthy for young lads. And if truth be told unfair especially when team won games by a mile and the players could be bedded in more to the club. McInnes uses daft subs - stockley for last 5 mins? Its obvious the final team v Celtic needs something different. And if they do not do something different on the 27th May we will lose.
  16. Rooney is what he is - not much really to him as a player apart from 20 goals a season often crucial ones. He seems to start regardless of form which must get to other strikers. Would rather see him play off someone or someone play off him. Also he does not put himself about enough - not a target man. Also, he messed up and failed on recent big stages especially ridiculous penalty in Maribor and non existent display in LCF.
  17. Under Delia they would probably have been after Hayes, Shinnie etc. However, they have obviously moved on now under Rodgers and now can work in the Premier League market for some players e.g. Sinclair. I don't see them buying any of AFC players at all. It would make sense we move for the players they have in the squad whether from there under 20's or like of McKay Steven or Christie or Liam Henderson. It works both ways - none of the players they have would really make it in a top 4 teams First XI in England - none of them. Sinclair you could argue was a reject in England a sort of Aston Villa type player. Gordon would be a back up only - if that or Hull City, Sunderland level. Chelsea wanted him as No.2 only. Tierney is a lot of hype for that level and Dembele is unproven as yet - he was only at Fulham. Griffiths was at Wolves FFS!
  18. Its pretty obvious Aberdeen will finish 2nd. Would it not make sense to play these lads who never get a proper game - Wright, Pawlett, Storey, Stockley from the start? Play like that in final and be a lot of folk nae happy.
  19. Craig Gordon has got nearly 50 caps and is proven at international level.
  20. Great move if true. Great lifestyle, good facilities and fantastic cities. You are also playing against good players. The Championship and League 1 in England you can become lost - its so easy to go down their and be forgotten and get loaned out to League 1, League 2 club as stakes are so high. USA offers a lot if you are successful. So, to be honest its a risk wherever he goes.
  21. Not really, he was at the cup final at Hampden - Rangers v Hibs.
  22. He shows up at Ibrox now and again, including appearing at last SF v Celtic and cup final v Hibs.
  23. The club would be mad not to offload him for £1m. His time at the club has been indifferent in general apart from the second half of this season where he has been outstanding. Outstanding for a reason perhaps? McLean is a 100% Rangers man - total bluenose as are all his family. That is the case with other players but to be potentially offered money for him and not take it when he is free to go for nothing at the end of the season would be bonkers. Easily replaced, plenty of talent with bite and passing ability - in fact they have already got one in ICT player coming in. Sell, sell, sell, sell
  24. The issue of safe standing is a political one in the UK. There is the spectre of 'Hillsborough' and Police Federation then H&S do gooders who know not much about football watching. However, the arguments against safe standing fell down years ago namely in that at the moment unsafe standing is occurring week in week out across the whole of the UK. People are standing in stadiums all over the UK from Section Y at Pittodrie to Hampden on Saturday. People are breaking the rules. Safe standing introduces rail seats - as in 'safe' standing. More safe than current standing. The arguments against it are nonsensical considering its only part of the stadium. In addition these areas are heavily stewarded, sectioned off - in the UK they are well at Celtic. Likewise in Sweden e.g. Friends Arena you cant really get in - you have to have a season ticket for that standing area. As far as I am aware the Celtic standing area is a sort of proof of concept if you like. Rangers want it but they have the backdrop of Ibrox disaster issue in the backdrop and some are conscious of upsetting families impacted. In England the view is that safe standing will come into place within the next 10 years. It would seem the move towards it is and may come about slowly. From next season every Premiership side have to locate away fans behind goals in a pitch side area or at least some fans in this seating. There have been huge complaints about fans being charged £45 and shoved up to the top tier at Sunderland or Chelsea or Newcastle. Certainly, there are more than me not for Kingsford for lots of reasons. But the club should be looking to integrate a standing section now and be innovative but its glaringly absent from a plan and design that is stale, cheap and is St Mirren Park II.
