I’d like to think miovski can find a better option than rangers. I despise them, most dons fans do, that orc land of disgusting bigots. He knows we have a rivalry, and surely knows he’d be hated by all In Aberdeen, a club that loves him and treated him so well. He’d surely be aware of the abuse and hatred he’d receive from many of our fans. Does any of that matter? I know money talks, I just don’t see them as that appealing over teams in Spain, France, Germany, Italy etc., even Saudi?? Plus, they aren’t the most stable of clubs either.

So, possible that there’s 3 Scottish teams in the Europa league?? How does that affect the finances ?
-
Well, one week to go in the window, what’s that chatter? A left back? A Rama type in midfield? One more forward? still think devlin and shinnie can fill in for now, we’ve got an overload of center mids including polvara but still haven’t replaced Rama, and up no clue what we have exactly but one non big lad up top is needed as a different look.
-
Would you go with the cup final tactics with 3 at the back, devlin left wing back, and shinnie center mid? Or are they not that good that we’d be giving them too much respect?

Just watched the highlights. Molloy can’t play when he has to think. At central defense he gets stuck in, but out wide he has to use his brain. He looked nervous, much like he did alongside ruby, and that hurts those around him. Saying that, kneuster should have stepped up and taken the ball for the second goal Instead of watching molloy try to play backwards where he’s so uncomfortable. Molloy reeks of fear and that hurts your team. think next week may be better actually. We were 100 miles an hour in the first half, too much youthful enthusiasm, we need to be calm under pressure. sitting in and countering may suit us much better. Plus a game like that probably suits sokler too with his pace and mobility.

Saw parts of the game, here’s my thinking. Devlin has to be left back for now. End of. Many of us have been saying this, what does jimmy have against devlin? we missed chances, yengi missed one early from a palaversa cross (I think), from about 6 yards, maybe he was unsighted from the defender but he’s rank. Awful. Not the answer in any game and I do actually think Ambrose is better. sokler is clearly not match sharp hence his miss(es), the header past the post and shot from the palaversa knock down, but he works his balls off. Very pleased he got his goal. Until we have a heathy and legit 9, Sokler is our best option. i totally understand the polvara dilemma. As someone who has coached footie in the US for almost 30 years, there are a ton of nice technical players here. But they just don’t have the bite, fight, desire, and passion. Is that polvara?? He’s a good fit for Europe where isn’t not a battling Scottish game, expect him to get minutes next week. not a fan of inverted wingers. Today was crying out for Morris to burn the full back wide yet milanovic cut inside almost every time with little success. Did we not learn last year that good things happen when we hit the line and put crosses in?? Inverted wingers also require a mobile 9 to be making diagonal runs out of the middle when the winger cuts in, and that’s not yengi, he gets in the way. all to play for, hopefully that’s kneuster fit, but we have to have devlin with him too. Although I wonder if we see a back 3/5 next week like the cup final.

Quite stunning the amount of abuse Martin is already getting. They are a mess and need a complete squad overhaul, not unlike us, but we appear to have stability and are willing to give JT time. I also think our fans are certainly more realistic and patient. their next 5 games are st mirren and brugge away, then home to Celtic Hearts and hibs, that’s a tough stretch. Will be enjoyable watching the drama/chaos unfold. -
Rangers look awful defensively, the goals conceded were comical, shocking. While I only saw highlights, they look like a bunch of players who don’t know each other. I’ll give JT credit, he focuses on togetherness and playing together. I hope teams including us take note, they are there to be beaten.

Hahahahahahaha!!!

Plan B (or C) to me would also involve a different type of 9, not just another big loon up top trying to hold the ball up etc.
-
There was one situation in particular when he picked the ball up deep and attacked straight up the middle. Far too often we’d knock it back, square, or send it wide and hope. He’s an aggressive 10 that we’ve badly needed, I like what we’ve seen so far. for this formation to work we need a 9 who can play technically, creating 2v1s with 9 and the wide guys and the 10, or wide guys and 10, as you saw with him and morris. Yengi really struggles to control the ball which makes this hard. He was a little better today though, but from what I’ve seen on YouTube, lazetic seems pretty technical and could make a big difference.

Motherwell at home in the next round, not a bad day!
-
I wouldn’t necessarily say that. You can only make 5 subs, deep bench. At the same time, they are down the pecking order.
-
Hoping Milne’s groin isn’t a big deal, he was the one who waked off towards the end.
-
Not complaining but Morton have been awful. Offered very little. Exactly the game we needed in a way.
-
Exactly the type of preseason games we’ve lacked. Solid half. In true form though, Morton score and it becomes a demanding fight we don’t need.
-
Got a strange feeling yengi has a good game. New striker arriving and he’s extra motivated. Think he scores today.
-
Good to see some rumors today, plus p&j reporting we have a sell on of 20% for mccrorie. If he goes for a reported £3m that pays for today’s newbie! Seems like there’s a bunch positive feedback regarding the Hungarian lad too, interesting!

You saying Greenock is not the Milan of Scotland? besides Marko, who else is being linked???
-
I’m starting to think we’re ruining polvara’s career. He’s not getting extended minutes regardless of how he plays, and he’s played out wider recently which is not where he belongs. None of our central players are consistently good, I just don’t under stand why he isn’t given a start. As you say, perhaps we aren’t aware of all of the story there. I really wonder if he’s capable of playing alongside shinnie with adil ahead of them. We clearly signed a 10 so polvara isn’t playing there from the start, why aren’t we trying/taking a look?
-
Bit harsh I think. Thought milanovic was unlucky when he was physical and took the ball from tierney early in the game. Wasn’t a foul. Compare him to a morris, hedges, McGinn, Hayes okkelsetc, maybe topi, he’s just as physical or more so.
-
I think that style of play comes from our inability to get it to a 9 who can collect and link with the other front 3. As a result, when you know your 9 is pish you go wide or to 10 earlier and you get what you said. Not effective.
-
So much of our play in a 4-2-3-1 relies on a capable 9, until we have that we’re going to struggle. Much of our play will involve hitting the 9 for link play, but right now our 9 can’t control, link, or play. Thought we were more attacking minded than we gave been against them in recent years. thought the two central defenders did well. Delvin did well on the left. Getting no attacking play from sivert or shinnie hurts, one needs to provide attacking options. Add to the fact sivert should prevent the first and the second is a ball inside where maybe a holding mid should be? two 2-0 losses is no embarrassment. Season starts next weekend for sure.
-
Two good goals from Celtic, not really bad play from us. No overreaction here, I think we are a couple of signings away from being a decent team. Hopefully the new 9 links with our other front 3 and we’ll be solid! tough start to the season but not unexpected, especially with the transfer window still open and business still to be done.

2-1, sokler (2)!!!!
