Anyone read the article about thelin not guaranteeing karlsson will be with us all season? Iād assume the karlsson camp arenāt overly happy with how things have gone to date??
-
Inverted wingers can work, seen it and coached it. But weāre doing it incredibly poorly. Inverted allows many things, including full back overlapping for width, cut inside for a switch of play/through ball to the opposite winger, penetrating ball to a diagonal run of a forward. We do little to none of that. We cut in and itās crowded with very little movement. As a result weāre very limited in options so most often itās sideways or backwards. Opponents get back, get set, and have time to be organized. Our inverted play is counter productive and quite often buys opponents time to get back. shady mo was very limited, but after a season or so with us figured out he simply had to knock it past a defender an go. We are so badly missing that. Thatās a lot of goals/assists we have lost.

I cannot accept the type of support fo nisbet. Heās a forward who is meant to create and score goals. He isnāt doing that. Week in and week out. Looks off the pace much of the time too. He doesnāt combine with our center mids or wide guys (if we even have those), that I donāt really know what he does. I donāt know where hibs played him, but if heās more of a 10 who plays with another forward, then thatās on Thelin. Lazetic was poor today, but has been ok most of the season and is young, hasnāt been a main 9 for a team as far as I know. Nisbet is an experienced pro. Working hard isnāt enough for me. football is mainly about two things. Not giving away goals, especially cheap goals, and scoring goals. We should see 18 months of Thelin work in these two areas, but today is a perfect example of where we are. Weāre not bad at the back, and have looked better this season since the back 3, but even now weāre back to where we were last season where we look shaky at the back, bit nervous, and are giving away goals. Weāre almost going backwards and getting worse defensively. In attack itās all about the final third. Combinations, crosses, getting to the line, different types of runs to attack crosses, a forward laying off to a shot from a midfielder etc. I have absolutely no clue what we are trying to do in attack. And today isnāt a one off, this is the norm for us. Said it before, Iām an āAā licensed coach with 30 years coaching experience. I have not clue what we are trying to do in attack. We donāt really see combos. Donāt see overlapping, donāt see width, donāt see getting to the line for crosses, donāt see early crosses or variations of crosses. What the fuck are we meant to be doing in attack?? I donāt believe nisbet, or karlsson, are bad players. But they are clearly not being utilized or playing to their ability level. Thatās on Thelin too.

So two tough away games next, then two games v the Huns. Based on today, any points? We are powder puff up front, create little, and gift goalsā¦.. ugh.
-
It hurts my heart when Iād rather watch Motherwell play, they are an enjoyable watch, we are not. I want their manager.
-
Not quite sure what happened today, but like with st mirren and killie, thought our goal would pick us up and weād go on and try to win it. Our goal killed our momentum and we were maybe slightly lucky to get a draw. im def turning on JT unfortunately, same shit week in and week out, and as much as we all have hope for belalovic, looks like heās being coached as an inverted winger to come inside too. That shit is starting to make my blood boil! I just donāt see how a few more new players in January fixes things. Think we do have some good players who arenāt playing to potential, or coached properly to play to their strengths. I just donāt see how JT improves our play or makes us a good team.
-
He scored today but Iād be happy to send karlsson back and sign, permanently or loan, a pacey legit winger who will attack wide. Him on one side and belalovic on the other, with a proper 9.
-
Partly because we have no real attacking threat at 9, and neither wide player will attack the line. So we spend the day going sideways and backwards. Aouchiche and Armstrong will penetrate centrally as an attacking mid, but thereās zero quality attacking play for either wing or 9. Itās been a painful watch all season, weāre so predictable and honestly, the last 20, we may be the happier team to get a point.
-
First time Iāve said we need to sign a new 9. Nisbet and lazetic offered absolutely nothing at 9, very little threat and neither close to a scoring chance. Very hard to be an attacking threat when your center forward doesnāt really worry opponents.
-
This is utter piss.
-
Depressing stuff. Weāve been really poor since equalizing.
-
Game has changed, weāve lost momentum. But nervy. lazetic hasnāt helped at all, nothing at 9! Chance at cm to give us energy, Kjarten??
-
Becoming too common, gift goals you gift games and points.
-
Why Kjarten? Aouchiche polvara and Armstrong have been decent. Topi and kev have not.
-
For all the possession has the keeper had a save? One shot straight at him for all the possession weāve had. Def lazetic and bealovic on at half.
-
Everyone else has been good except those two, particularly aouchiche who really is wanting the ball. Lazetic and bilalovic. Please!
-
Ffs
-
Not bad but all left side. Absolutely nothing from topi.
-
Decent start, goal would be nice.
-
I think lazetic will be much more effective with legit wingers. Play him ahead of a proper attacking mid, which I do think Armstrong is, and two wingers, belalovic and a signing. Kjarten and aouchiche behind Armstrong is worth trying.

Scottish Cup final: Aberdeen v Celtic - 24/05
OrlandoDon replied to Panda's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Watched the highlights again after seeing this chain pop up again. Then watched the Scotland Denmark highlights. Two games that still bring me close to tears! These types of games arenāt normal, when was the last time we had those types with such pressure and importance? I donāt include the euro tournament games as weād already qualified and we werenāt under that pressure/expectation. we were such underdogs against Celtic, and hadnāt qualified for a World Cup in 27 years. The cup finals of 2014 and 1995 we were favorites, even the 90 final I think we were favorites. -
So weāve seen two of the three now, giving us hope, any nearer to a frame sighting?
-
Meant to add, I said during our bad start to the season that Thelin had to be given time, and Iāve stuck by that, I felt Xmas was a fair time to judge. The new summer players are well and truly bedded in and heās had June- now to work with the new squad, obviously some players coming in August. While I am not demanding his sacking, itās not pretty and doesnāt seem to be working. No signs in our style of play or performances to suggest we are heading in the right direction.
-
Assuming lobban is suspended. mitov devlin Milne knoester gyamfi Kjarten Bilalovic aouchiche Armstrong karlsson lazetic 2-1 us, lazetic bilalovic, although I fear weāll be bullied and bombared by a tall and physical team.
-
There is nothing in our style of play that suggests Thelin ball is innovative or creative, or working. Thereās no thelin stamp on our team of what heās all about, and our team really doesnt have any identity. If anything, one of the few things heās clearly brought is inverted wingers and thatās certainly debatable whether itās been a good or bad thing. We have a battling quality at times but everything from Thelin and his nice quiet persona suggests thatās a player personality and nothing Thelin brings. Iād argue anything successful has been as a result of us having qualities in players rather than a well coached product of Thelin. I desperately want him to be successful and donāt want yet another manager, but thereās nothing overly positive. Pains me to write this but I suppose Iām being a realist. Surely by now we should see a style, an identity, a quality of some sort. We should be seeing progress on the field. Weāve won recently but has that been good play, good coaching, consistent performance, or good fortune? i also do feel we have enough talent to play better than we do. The gaffer is underachieving. Frustrating in a season thatās so rare that we could be challenging for the league due to both of the old firm being poorer at the same time. League and champions league are there for the taking. Not that we are ready for the champs league of course! said it today already, I like the look of Motherwellās berthel askou, his team is an interesting watch. If we do change a manager Iād really want someone who has familiarity with our league and has been impactful in some form, Motherwell have made progress this season.
