Donāt really know what to expect. Kind of a free hit too. Maybe playing a European team and not a league game will be a good thing?? Def think weāll go three at the back, is tobers fit after going off against Motherwell? hope we stick with devlin and gyamfi as wing backs. Would like to see shinnie and Armstrong on either side of sivert, both can push on while sivert sits. Alternatively Armstrong sits and heās more mobile, but is he disciplined enough to sit. If heās the middle of the 3 mids, palaversa on the right of him. Think we need three workers in there, you could argue thatās not sivert but I think he adds to the team despite his clear flaws. up top really want to see lazetic given a start to see what he can do, heās much more mobile than nisbet, and I know we havenāt see much, but I think heās more technical. give karlsson a free role/permission to roam. 2-2, karlsson and lazetic. -

I guess define progress. On the field itās piss at present and thatās what the majority of fans only consider. We did win the Scottish cup. Luck maybe or very good coaching against a much better team with a ton more money. We undertook a huge squad overhaul. Got rid of dead wood and made some money on players that were not starting 11 players. We signed some exciting players (on paper), some for now and some young ones for the future. Not all will be successful signings but we had a shit squad that needed a long term (and ongoing) overhaul. i get where you are coming from but the quick success approach has seen 4 managers in 4 years, I think a number of us appreciate a different approach. As Iāve said, itās been a month since the window closed. Iāll pass more judgement by the end of the year but for now Iāll watch this shit and hope for a turnaround asap. -

Iām going against the grain but I have reasons to believe Thelin should be given time. Glass and Robson had little or no experience, Goodwin a little, jimmy has experience. I think glass could have been good with the right structure/support, I see Goodwin as another Mcinnes at the most, and Robson was limited. Iād take Robson back as part of the management team, but not as a head coach. He has value. There is no manager out there that I desperately want, and certainly nobody guarantees success. I suppose too for every new manager bounce thereās a potential Neil warnock. Itās shit right now, we all agree, but Iād argue every team, maybe bar Celtic, will have a bad run. Ours is now and Iām optimistic weāll come out of it. I also feel we are in a league that bar Celtic the rest will beat each other and a good run and weāll but up to third or fourth pretty quickly. itās modern football to sack a manager when you have a bad run, weāve done that three times, we spent considerable time to get Thelin, letās take a long term approach. You can see from experience, unlike the last managers, that he has a track record and is capable. as a team leader/manager at work, it would be very hard to produce quickly if my team significantly changed every six months when all my projects were twelve month projects. It takes time to get up to speed with a new group. We needed a complete squad overhaul. Was sad we lost McKenzie and McGrath but we did try to keep both, everyone else wasnt a guaranteed starter, squad players, and we got good money for limited players. thelin has shown he can attract players to the club. Thatās big. While heās not the only one involved in transfers, heās a significant piece. I like this. Heās also shown heāll adapt formation and is not afraid to make changes in both personnel and formation when needed. I dont think we see a lot in the January window but I do think we target the badly needed Rama type. weve made mistakes, particularly with number of preseason games this season. Not sure why. I also donāt get why we signed Jensen, it has hurt in of our best performing players in devlin. Itās not perfect but another sacking and hope we get it right is a situation I donāt want to do through yet again. Let this run its course. It certainly requires trust/faith. -
A good watch this weekend, took me away from the depression that is Aberdeen. Got pretty exciting and nervy at the end!

What gives you the impression palaversa and aouchiche think they are playing a league beneath? I donāt see that. I think they are two players who excelled early in their careers and have not kicked on to a higher level. Weāre giving them that opportunity of playing time in a competitive league that gives them good exposure. Whether aouchiche is good enough, time will tell, but heās still a relatively new player learning Scottish football, teammates, and demands of a new manager. And heās a young player. I think he works hard and tries.
-
Tend to agree with you, to me a shoulder charge is still while playing the ball, I just felt the defender completely too him out.

A run of matches? Heās had three windows with significant squad change, and over 20 new players. Add nisbet Armstrong and karlsson, key players, plus lazetic and gyamfi who were injured, these guys have hardly been with us a month. I think giving him to Xmas is fair before we can fealty make comment, but I also think heās here three years minimum and has been given assurances. Pretty sure weāre not sacking another manager without him being given the chance to completely overhaul the squad, and try to develop a full new group over time. -
Thought we were very unlucky today, not great but one of our better if not best league performance to date. We created a few chances and the first goal is a freak goal, kills the game. Luck is not on our side. Also thought we had more width today. Would prob like us to stay 3 at the back with devlin and gyamfi or frame at wing back. Maybe Armstrong was rested, but switch him in alongside shinnie and palaversa gives us enough strength and mobility, plus shinnie and Armstrong can push up. Wouldnāt mind seeing karlsson alongside lazetic, nisbet just doesnāt do it for me, not nearly mobile or active enough. topi drive me nuts with the run and shot into the side netting, square it and we score if I recall. Also no clue why lazetic doesnāt chip the keeper right before their goal, seemed to have the time, space, ball in the right position, and keeper off his line. thought tobers did ok, did he get injured? i think we have seen jimmy change players and formations. Just wish weād done that in preseason with more games and possibly a bounce game or two early midweek to blood new players. Weāre playing catch up on the fly which is very difficult. still really unclear as to our tactics or style of play, no clue what we are trying to do when we have the ball. Also feel we are still really poor in attack. Itās pretty easy to play passes square and back between defenders and midfield, but our play between midfielders and attackers, and our play in the opponents final third isnāt good.
-
Not a bad half from what I have seen. Not great but we are not confident or on form, but we are creating. Def think we are better with devlin, getting some width from the full backs.
-
Totally agree, but every game is change, and here we go again. Perhaps we find something that works but consistent personnel and players breeds consistent play and we donāt do any of this. Saying that, I think shinnie and palaversa may be our best two in there. changing prediction, 3-0 us. Nisbet aouchiche and karlsson.
-
Back 3 or 5, plus multiple personnel changes. Too much change. Hope Iām wrong but I donāt think that helps us. Not sure how we line up, karlsson up top w nisbet? 1-1 nisbet.

I have noticed a few times heās a poor marker, loses his man a lot. For a so called hard man thatās pretty lame, heās got the size, whatās the issue?? -

Stats donāt need to prove it, but consistent teams have settled teams. On our best run last year we didnāt change much. We didnāt have depth and we over ran some players last year. there is no settled team this year. No solid consistent group to build around. Nine games in, how many different midfield pairings and 10 have we had. Midfield is the key, do well we attack and create, poorly and we go on this type of run. Until we find a consistent 3 players to lean on in there, with the odd rest/ rotation, I think we continue to struggle. So far the only one of the three I think merits the start is Armstrong. -

Donāt really know where to start, tried to watch some while driving. Looked like we did have more width, were the fullbacks attacking? Anyone actually get to the line and put crosses in? Seems like we also played at more pace, or was that just in the last 20 or so when chasing the game? What I did see was we were very poor at keeping the ball, looked like we really struggled to string passes together, especially in the first half? no clue what strong characters we have that drag us out of this. Armstrong seemed involved, if you ask me Iād be playing devlin shinnie Armstrong, maybe frame? -

Didnāt see the game. Better or worse than the motherwell game? Any positives other than not all players being crap? no clue how we turn this around⦠-

Hmm, polvara at 10, or Armstrong? Didnāt expect this lineup. Good to see gyamfi fit. -

Agreed, I donāt think heās in danger. We pursued him for a couple of years, and weāve gone all in on him. A three yr project was spoken about, and itās been a total squad overhaul. Weāve allowed him to build his type of player and squad I believe, including signing ex players, you donāt then can the coach. To be honest, Iām sure his start last year was a surprise to jimmy and cormack, and a cup win was unexpected. Itās a three yr project minimum and weāre only starting year two. Add to the fact weāve signed bilalovic kjarten and frame, all who I think are ones for the future, I think the club is all in on long term jimmy. -

Thatās not just us, itās a very common thing these days to have the whole team back. I donāt get it at all, as you say, leave one up theyāll leave two back, plus it helps if we counter attack. -
See weāre up against Luca Stephenson on Tuesday. I didnāt realize he was back at utd on loan. What happened there? Did we try to sign him permanently and he wanted to stay at Liverpool? I think Iām right in saying heās a deep midfielder playing where weāre seeing shinnie sivert and Armstrong yesterday?

I think we have quite āreasonableā people here, most of us are willing to give jimmy time as we donāt want to sack a manager every season, plus a rebuild every season doesnāt make sense. Seems most of us are in agreement there. Plus I do think itās fair to factor in a complete squad overhaul. You canāt throw 20 new players at a guy in 12 months and expect it to be smooth. Every window since jimmy came has been significant change. As I said recently, i think itās fair that by Xmas we should have an idea of what we are and what jimmy can do. means little but weāve been unlucky. Two debatable red cards affected games, prior to the devlin red I felt it was just a matter of time before we scored against falkirk. Against livi we missed a handful of chances, yesterday it was easier for kneuster to score than miss, a devlin header that could easily have gone in or bounced out for a tap in. While we didnt create a lot yesterday, we were unlucky with those two and on another day weād score 2-3 against livi. We won those games last autumn. weāre also not conceding a shit ton of goals or seeing opponents miss a ton of chances. At the same time though, I thought we saw a little bit of fear and nervousness at the back yesterday and if this form continues that will get worse. whats concerning and needs improved asap is our style of play. I see highlights of other teams at the moment and wish we played like that. Even the way motherwell played yesterday, building out the back they were quite tidy, plus their speed of attack, had me wishing we played like that. Hibs play some nice football, hearts too. St mirren. Even falkirk looked decent. we have to create width, we have to involve our 9, and we have to attack at speed. Itās been far too much sideways and backwards between defenders and midfielders that we are slow and we allow teams to get back and get set. At present we are easy to defend against. So far thereās also little difference between yengi nisbet or lazetic, they have all touched the ball so little, they are rarely involved in our play. Thereās many reasons our 9 has to touch the ball and be involved in the play. where have our attacking fullbacks gone? Devlin and Mackenzie were our best players early last season. Even Jensen was more attack minded last season. That style or tactic has vanished. Weāre starting to see glimpses from gyamfi. im not seeing enough from topi to merit a weekly start. Why are we continuing with polvara as a winger. Weāve spent a fair amount of money, those two decisions donāt sit well with me at present. I def think milanovic and karlsson merit a regular start, maybe milanovic picked up a knock with the aussies? Polvara doesnāt provide pace or width. Iād like to see Belalovic, gyamfi, or frame given a run at left mid before polvara. said it yesterday, wonder if two away games help us where the home team should be more attack minded and give us some more space to attack into, or give us more counter attacking opportunities which gave us some success last season. -

Other than maybe milanovic for topi, iād run it back, same team as today. As mentioned, we need some sort of consistency and chopping and changing, particularly in center mid, on a game basis isnāt necessary or overly helpful. There will come a time where squad rotation is needed, donāt think we are there yet. hopefully gyamfi is fit, would like to see him improve by the game, plus prefer not to see devlin on his weaker side. Obviously would rather see devlin at right back but that wonāt happen. wonder if playing away will actually help us. Youād expect united to attack us, potentially leaving us space to attack them in the counter. While no team fears us, the last 3 games at pittodrie we have been the more dominant and teams have tended to counter attack us. 2-1 us, nisbet and karlsson the incentive to put the Huns bottom of the league has to be an added motivation! -
Whatās the point in spending a fair chunk of money on VAR if we are going to come out each week and announce where decisions were wrong? Saw the comments about the shankland hand ball leading to his goal, a rangers goal etc. Given the number of mistakes we are seeing weekly, Iād argue it would be just as good/bad and certainly more enjoyable without VAR.

From what I remember, the only corner that beat the first man was devlinās header that hit the bar. given karlsson has been here maybe 2 weeks, how much practice have we done on corners with him taking them? If we have set routines that takes practice, or is it just hit and hope?
