First time I’ve seen karlsson fight to win the ball and he injures aouchiche. Maybe not be a bad thing if Kjarten comes on, better balance.
-
Willie is spot on with red tv commentary. It’s a hard watch and we’ve got plenty of all players but very few ball winners. I think it’s just a matter of time before they score, we just aren’t good, can’t keep the ball and other than one early cross, create nothing.
-
Same shit different day. Second to everything, they look comfortable on the ball, we struggle to keep possession. We just don’t look like a team that are up for it, going through the motions.
-
That would make sense with nisbet at 10 but I actually think we go with topi and bilalovic outside to try to get width and spacing.
-
People forget, we had aitken, heggarty, ebbe, miller, Patterson between smith/scott and calderwood. Plus McGhee post calderwood. I don’t think cormack has picked the worst managers we’ve ever had. you are right about jimmy, very likable and we were all behind him. We badly want him to succeed. The fan support for his team has been amazing, it’s just not working. Maybe a back four today brings a change in fortune.
-
In all seriousness, what is jimmy doing??? Chopping changing, diff players and formation. Hope this works, but….! karlsson up top w nisbet and topi and bilalovic wide?
-
Na, bilalovic up top and trying nisbet in the back 3.
-
A few today, last time I was at pittodrie, Jan. 3, 1998. Freezing. Dean Windass goal and we beat Dundee united 1-0. Managed by the amazing Alex miller, would you switch jimmy for him?
-
Back on topic please!! Any names at all besides David Watson being thrown around??
-
Signed anyone yet?!?!

Happy New Year to you all! Not midnight here yet and not staying up, my kids are sick! Got to enjoy cleaning up puke off the beds floors and walls at 3AM. predict we win the treble this year, Ryan jack returning as player manager.
-
Well said. Only thing I’d add is that we’re not solely hopeless up front, it’s our entire attacking play - no wing play, no crosses, few combinations in and around the box, layoffs for shots etc. as I write this, other than sivert v Morton, haw we scored a header from a set play or cross?? I have absolutely no clue what we do in training as our attacking play is atrocious.
-
I think that’s harsh. Glass was a strange hire, but I understand Goodwin and Robson, even warnock. Thelin was a successful manager with European experience, I understood that too. It just hasn’t worked out. It’s not like we overlooked a ton of perfect candidates. It’s a very dry well and you need luck.

Let’s be realistic, at best Motherwell will finish 4th. I don’t believe they’ll finish above either of the Glasgow two or hearts. They won’t win a cup. So who do we realistically think are watching him? I said we act quick because maybe he goes to united ? Maybe hibs if they were to tank and can Gray. Maybe hearts if Mcinnes goes to Scotland post World Cup. I don’t think he’s on that many people’s radar besides Scottish teams at present, and I’d say he’d need at least two good seasons up here, maybe a cup final/win, before an English team or abroad comes calling. Look at us with Mcinnes, how many teams came in for him from down south or abroad? I don’t see him leaving Scotland any time soon.
-
Craig brown built the foundation for Mcinnes, not all bad!

I share your enthusiasm. We are consistent. Consistently shite and have been for a year now. Maybe the odd good performance but even in wins, which doesn’t happen that much, we’re a dire watch. falkirk were much more appealing on the eye when they beat us at home, think that was the Devlin red game? we may sneak a point, maybe three, but it will be an awful watch.
-
Motherwell will never be a good/big job. He may even lose players in January. And he doesn’t have a budget. We’re a much more attractive option. Short term he has a good season at Motherwell maybe, long term we’re much more appealing. Do you have a reason not to want him other than leaving well for us in a position below well??
-
New manager bounce and 3-4 January signings and 3rd, 4th at worst. cormack has given Thelin everything, 18 months, time money patience, it’s just not working out. There is absolutely nothing positive we can say about performance, a that’s been the case fo over a year for the most part. I don’t think there’s anyone saying to give him more time, how can you justify that? I also think this is the first time where there is a young talented manager in the league performing well on a fraction of our budget. For the first time in years I can say I want x manager asap. Guy is young creative, and has a team playing attractive football, no brainer.
-
I think we could build around Kjarten and aouchiche in the middle, maybe add David Watson if we are lucky. Add another piece of quality in there. Problem is we have no wingers or center forward. I’m officially over sideways and backwards. We are a really poor watch and new signings under jimmy don’t do it for me. I haven’t seen enough from jimmy to think he can be successful here. Next.
-
Can the 3 year project start the first time we ever spoke to jimmy? get the Motherwell boy in asap, and I’d act soon before someone else snaps him up.
-
Makes me wonder if his plan is Kjarten ahead of the 4. As was said by someone, kinda like a Ryan jack type that will sit in the middle. Except I think he’s a much bigger lad with more physicality potentially? This also gives more freedom/flexibility with those around and ahead of Kjarten.
-
Jute, I envy your life. 24 hrs watching footie by the looks of things. On my 5th fight of the day with my kids, inbetween Florida gardening which is like trying to maintain the Amazon during rainy season. Maybe I’ve won one fight so far, exhausted.
-
That’s an interesting one. Karlsson has 6 goals so far, no clue of assists. How many goals/assists did shady have for the first half of last season?
-
Certainly hope/expect the penguin to have an influence on this window. As much as he’d arguably be our best winger, putting in a bid for Shady is a step backwards. maybe not a penguin angle, but who are the up and coming Scots who have gone south in recent years and would be worth exploring? David Turnbull healthy and playing well these days? Would think a Scot coming north and playing for us would get World Cup exposure.
-
I’m not fussed if we were to lose karlsson, but topi has been a major disappointment this season. Many talked about him kicking on, that certainly hasn’t happened. Prefer we even gave milanovic a run on the left, saw a number of highlights before he joined us where he’s on the left. obviously bilalovic getting more minutes is certainly intriguing.
