  1. I'm with RS on this one. I wouldn't go to watch Albion Rovers v Elgin City. Why? Because the product is shite. But it's a million times better than wife's football. I admit I did watch a few of the women's World Cup gamers last year....purely as there was nothing else on at the time. Some of it was pure comedy gold. Embarrassingly bad and these were meant to be the "elite" of the women's game. I remember going back 6 or 7 seasons. Arsenal were the English women's league champions. They played a friendly in their pre-season against a boys' U15 side from Merseyside. Not a particularly good boys team either...just a bog standard side in a local league. The boys were 4 up at half time and the game was abandoned with nearly 15 minutes to go with the boys leading 6-0. As for our women's side. Naturally I hope they do well. But I'll never watch them.
  2. Says to me he's only interested in winning, can't knock him for that attitude
  3. Agree about the Killie left back Hamalainen. If our attempt to sign Leigh goes tits up then I'd be happy with us trying to get him instead, although I suspect QPR would be looking for a fee likely in excess of that we paid for Hernandez. Against Hamilton, I liked the look of Gogic. He is an absolute beast and one thing we lack (apart from a genuine number 10) is a real hard bastard. Also pretty quick over the ground....he outpaced Kennedy then totally outmuscled him in the second half when it looked like Kennedy had been put through on goal. With what Hamilton pay....we could double his wages and he'd still be only at or around our average wage.
  4. Yep seems a reasonable expectation. As regards Panda's post.....I really don't think anybody is getting carried away with Main. But Cosgrove has been stinking the place out since late December and probably got 2 games more than he really deserved before getting dropped. Main came in, played very well and got a goal. On that basis he doesn't deserve to be dropped. A couple of games more on the bench should concentrate Cosgrove's mind and hopefully by the time he gets back in he will have bucked up his ideas.
  5. I last checked the St J score when it was 1-1 after 2 minutes of injury time. Was too busy gloating/pissing myself laughing at the utter meltdown that was happening live and exclusive on sevco media. Didn't realise Saints had sneaked a winner until about half an hour later. Only downer on the evening was that St Mirren could get themselves an equaliser at Livi
  6. Fantastic first half performance, 3 excellent goals and totally dominated Hamilton. Second half not quite up to the same standard but still fairly comfortable although losing a sloppy goal near the end. As others have said, Main was very good. I personally thought Ojo had shaded it for m.o.m. but not going to argue about Main getting it. McGinn also looked good and the 3 at the back all did well, Considine especially for his assists. Agree with Rico that McGeouch doesn't look particularly good...…..I suppose it could be that he hasn't played much over the past 18 months and lacks match fitness. However when we were originally after him in the summer of 2018 I was dead against it....at he time we were supposedly going to make him our highest paid player and I was very glad that Sunderland blew our generous offer out the water. I can't imagine he has come to us to lose out on money so imagine we have bunged him a signing on fee equivalent to what he was due in his last 6 months contract down there and will be right up there with Joe as our highest earner. I have grave misgivings about this....I just think he's nae very good end of. Surprised Hernandez didn't get a 15 minute run out last night. That he chose to use Logan in going for game management in the last 15 minutes makes me wonder if Hernandez isn't much of a defender....a bit like Tavernier at sevco? On to Celtic on Sunday. I'd like to see us persevere with the 3 at the back....I get that Celtic's pace could cause problems but going to a throwback 80s formation of employing a sweeper (and in doing so abandoning using offside as a tactic) could negate that.... but you just know that McInnes will shit the bed on it and revert to a flat back 4, with Logan likely taking McLennan's place. Campbell can feel aggrieved at missing out starting last night...I'd hope he comes in for McGeouch. Main deserves to keep his place for the time being....Cosgrove won't be happy but 2 or 3 games as a sub might just buck his ideas up.
  7. Actually think the best result for us tonight would be that the weather turns really vile and the game gets postponed to a later date by which time we are playing better. But on the basis that it goes ahead....same team that started on Saturday except Main to start in place of Cosgrove. Possible chance of Kennedy dropping to bench with McLennan starting as he's a bit more physical and Hamilton have 4 centre halves out. The goal drought has to end sometime. 0-1 (Main)
  8. Probably because McInnes views a clean sheet as proof that things are working. The McLennan substitution on 93 minutes to waste time I think proves that.
  9. Celtic and sevco have done a helluva lot more travelling all over Europe, and are continuing to do so for the time being...as well as playing more games in the League Cup. I accept their squads are bigger...but regular European football often plays a part in attracting players to our club. What is catching up with us is McInnes' tactics, which have been sussed by every other manager. To the extent that we may not even have to concern ourselves with European football next season, indeed even a top 6 place is by no means a certainty now.
  10. Saw bits of the game but stream kept dropping out, Campbell m.o.m by a country mile, Kennedy again did fairly well, should have been given a penalty first half and Mcginn was decent ana. Cosgrove once again fucking honking, Main did more in the short time he was on than Cosgrove did all game......he needs dropping. Pity the options available to replace him with are so utterly uninspiring. Wind was ridiculous second half and certainly ruined the game as a spectacle. But 5 games without a goal? Unacceptable. No confidence that McInnes can turn this shitshow around
  11. I reckon Logan will come back in and Hernandez will make do (as I think he really should have) with a few sub appearances over the next 2-3 weeks to introduce him a bit more gradually to the reality of Scottish football. Also think Ojo will come back in for McGeouch and Hedges getting another start....but reaching the point of last chance saloon. Which is precisely where McInnes will also be heading if we get beaten. Especially so if the defeat is combined with playing Gallagher. Think the general mood amongst the support is of being ready to start protests outside the ground at full-time should things go badly. As Iv'e said elsewhere...I think we will score tomorrow. Just the once mind. It may well be enough to get us through but I suspect not. Afraid apathy reigns right now in chez Ten Caat
  12. I'm sure it is only to allow the loon to get up to match fitness and play a few reserve games to test out his knee. He won't be ready to do that for around another 4 weeks or so having been out so long. But as for signing him? There's just no room for him in the squad right now with 4 centre halves and 2 right backs. So even a pay-as-you-play deal would be throwing money away. If he can come through a few reserve matches in March/early April......depending on how we go in our next few games our season could well be over anyway (out the Cup and struggling for holding on to a top 6 place in the league). If that were the case, I'd have no problem letting him play in a few first team fixtures as a possible trial for next season. At least one of McKenna and Devlin are likely to leave in the summer. Only then would I be offering him a deal, assuming he has indeed proven his fitness.
  13. When they lowered the age of consent for homosexuals to 16 it was roundly supported by the SNP. There were no caveats that a 16 year old could only have sex with someone of a broadly similar age. As long as the texting started after the boy was 16, Mackay has broken no laws, in fact even if the boy was 15 I'm not sure he would have broken any laws either as long as no sexual activity took place. So I'm failing to see why this has become a resignation matter with Sturgeon criticising his behaviour. The age of consent must be fully applicable in every case, otherwise the law is an ass. Of course this is the last thing the SNP need at a time when polls show that Scots are now (very) narrowly in favour of independence. This negative publicity on top of Salmond's trial next month must have the remainers rubbing their hands with glee.
  14. We will score on Saturday. Just not convinced that we will score more than Killie.
  15. A lot of people who catch the virus will be elderly and/or suffering from other conditions like cancer or heart disease. If you want to cover it up you just say they died of complications of their other disease(s) This happened fairly regularly here in the 80s where (sometimes to protect the reputation of the deceased or so as not to upset relatives) when the AIDS epidemic was in full swing.
  16. I'd far rather we changed the offside rules to give the attacking side more of an advantage. By stipulating that there has to be clear daylight between the attacker and defender before the attacker is offside. I have absolutely no confidence that introducing VAR wouldn't still result in the arse cheeks benefitting from dodgy decisions either. It may have stopped sevco getting 2 of the penalties they were awarded in the game they got 4 in. But they wouldn't have altered the outcome of that game anyway. Whereas if a cheek was struggling 0-0 in a game with time running out....I suspect the VAR ref would be champing at the bit to award a penalty to them in a questionable incident.
  17. No idea where to start. But I'm no different to McInnes in that respect. He clearly hasn't a clue how to get this squad of players to play in an entertaining attacking style. Firstly, those who get pass marks. Kennedy. So that's that out of the way. Everyone else were at best below par, at worst rank fucking rotten. Mcgeouch, Cosgrove and Ferguson getting special mentions as being the worst of the worst. I thought Ojo was actually the best of our 3 holding midfielders on Saturday and found it strange that he was the one to get dropped. Last year, Ferguson was overplayed ( at times enforced due to lack of options through injuries/suspension) and was quite obvious he needed a rest when his performance level dropped. I think he could do with that now. Cosgrove hasn't so much gone off the boil as started to develop ice crystals. Failing to get a new striker on board is now proving a huge problem. with Main exiled to a Siberian concentration camp and Anderson (imho) not good enough nor having the physical attributes to deal with our centre halves 60 yard punts/ WW1 like shelling campaign. Hernandez.....not exactly an inspiring start for our new "star". As with Kennedy, he's getting a free pass on this one in view of it being his first match. Hopefully as he gets to know the players better he will improve as Kennedy has in his subsequent matches. The rest of the defence were woeful. McKenna and Taylor directly responsible for their goal but Joe is not absolved from blame either....he went down far too quickly and made the Saints scorer's choice easy. I've said this for 3 months.....the captaincy needs handing to an outfield player. Not just because he's unable to influence things enough and drive the team forward (by showing the way personally if necessary). But also because he's just too "nice". The captain should be able to turn into an angry bastard when necessary and Joe just doesn't have that in him. I had intended coming up for the Killie game. However they're now scoring plenty and I fear a drubbing. I'm not spending the best part of £150 all in for the pleasure of watching a shit-show walloping. McInnes must surely realise his time with us is up. But he isn't going to walk away with over £2million remaining on his contract. And is why I don't think Cormack will fire him for the foreseeable future. I fear we are going to see much more of the shit until the end of the season, with Hibs overhauling us by Easter at the latest and a severe risk of even Livi doing the same...theyre no great shakes but can at least win their home games. Sickened....
  18. Well it is performing. Unfortunately shittily. St Johnstone by far the more dangerous side up till now and well worth their lead. Taylor off injured, Devlin on. Get this sorted Mcinnes
  19. Not a hope in hell Devlin will displace Taylor from tonight's starting line-up, unless you are aware of an injury to Taylor that I have overlooked. Big Gash has been consistently good since getting into the team and was one of our best performers against sevco. Where there might be a change in defence is Hernandez starting at right back and Logan replacing Consi at left back if we go with a 4 man defence. However I think we will go with a 3 man defence to allow a more attacking set up, with Hernandez being utilised as a wing back. Lewis Taylor McKenna Considine Hernandez Ojo Ferguson McGeouch McGinn Kennedy Considine Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Kennedy score against his old club and May returning the favour 3-1 (Cosgrove, Kennedy, McKenna)
  20. In the communist era, Soviet and Eastern European clubs were nominally amateur....of course they were nothing of the sort in reality, and players received (for their respective countries) decent salaries and never had any problems accessing the best food and other commodities that the ordinary people would either have to queue for or do completely without. They weren't just football clubs either...they often had athletics, basketball, gymnastics another other sports teams under the umbrella of the name Many of the clubs again were nominally allied to certain industries or services, although the players again in reality never worked in these places. "Dynamo" was always the police team, "C.S.K.A" denoted the army team of that particular country. "Lokomotiv" unsurprisingly was the state railway side. Once German reunification took place...these clubs still existed but the relative lack of wealth in the former East Germany meant that players from the East would head to clubs based in the former west where they could earn massive salaries compared to what they were used to. Consequently they were nowhere near strong enough to go into the Bundesliga and entered into the German regional leagues. I think I'm right in saying Dynamo Berlin changed their name to FC Berlin fairly quickly after reunification in order to distance itself from its shady former past.
  21. Noticed a tweet from Tommie Hoban about an hour ago. Says that recovering from his injury without a club has been more difficult than he thought. Well we did offer you facilities and you chose not to take us up on it....although I do think that Watford have been incredibly mean if they didn't allow him access to their facilities even if they didn't offer a new contract. Anyway he goes on to say that he will be ready to commence full training in a couple of weeks. I hope our support don't get any ideas of us trying to sign him on a short term deal just yet. For one....we have 4 central defenders as it is and now 2 right backs (3 if you count Virtanen, out on loan at Arbroath but doing very well and probably ready to be a full first team squad member next season). If he's only starting full training in mid February, he won't be fit enough to play for at least 4-6 weeks beyond that. And of course....he then has to test out the injured knee to see if it will indeed stand up to the rigours of playing football again. I'd have no problem once again offering training facilities and then offering him the chance to play a few reserve games for us to see how things go. But I'd be very wary of offering him even a short term contract just now. Our centre back position may well change in the summer....McKenna might be sold and if Devlin still hasn't re-established himself I cannot see him being happy to hang around a whole lot longer as 3rd/4th choice. If Hoban is still unattached at that point and we have a vacancy for a central defender then he might be worth a punt.
  22. Ah good old de Visscher. Who could forget his wildpoepen exploits? One of the biggest disappointments of the Calderwood era is that we didn't tap into his indubitably encyclopaedic knowledge of the Dutch game more. Was it more due to the enforced austerity at that point than anything else...ie that the players who were any good just weren't interested in moving across the North Sea for the sort of wages that we were paying at that point? I agree Snoyl started off well but seemed to peter out fairly rapidly.
  23. Richard Gordon said on Radio Scotland that the fee we paid was "closer to £1million than £500k" so seems to back that up.
  24. Why the hell didn't I lump on my 0-0 prediction. Wasn't even that much of a shitfest….Cosgrove should certainly have scored and Taylor (my m.o.m. btw) was unlucky to be denied by a wonder save. Kennedy looked much more integrated into the team and will definitely be a useful addition on that showing. Thought Ferguson and Mcgeouch also did very well.....and even Gallagher when he came on made a decent contribution who was another one forcing a decent stop from Mcgregor. Afraid I'm another disagreeing with Manc though. I thought Logan was horrendous first half and was hoping he would get hooked then for the new loon. However he was better in the second half I do concede. Hopefully that performance proves to be the fatal blow to any sevconian hopes of going for 1 this season. I always hope they get fucked over no matter who plays them, but it would be really sweet (and hilarious) if the 4 points we have taken off them, plus another 3 when we face them after the split proves to be the exact difference they finish runners up by. Fuck der Hun and all who sail in her SF
  25. You are guessing wrong, They had interviews with most managers during the show, The Coonty manager said that they only had one bid for Stewart yesterday and that it came from an EFL1 club and fell way below their valuation. They actually believe he is in the same league as the Motherwell loon that signed for Hull yesterday
