A few things to note on this day.

Peter Weir was born on this day in 1958.

Willem Van Der Ark signed for us back in 1989. Scored on his debut against Motherwell too.

My first Boss, back in 1989, was a big dandy and he hated the Ark. I used to rave about him all the time, just to wind him up and one day he threatened to sack me.

I think he was joking, but he never spoke to me the rest of the week.

Tough going, considering there was only four of us in total.

 

Best of all though, was beating Septic on this day in 2009. Zander Diamond scoring a brace, to send us dandies loopy, our third coming just minutes after McDonald had equalised for Celtic. Then a fourth sealed the deal.

We were shouting for five.

Gary McDonald and Stuart Duff, had gave us a 2-1 half time lead.

I bounced all the way back home to Torry, after that game.

On this day 24 years ago, an old jakeball lost the plot, stumbled onto the Pittodrie pitch and got twatted by a seat thrown by his own supporters. Aberdeen fans got the blame

44 years ago today, since a young Hilton loon called John Hewitt, scored after 9 seconds, against Motherwell in the Scottish Cup.

We wouldn't lose again in the SC, until 17th April 1985.

 

Also on this day in 1988. Charlie Nicholas, scored his first goal for the Dons, in a 2-1 defeat, down at Motherwell.

Maybe their revenge from 1982!

 

There is also a press story listed from 1950, with talk about a 70,000 capacity stadium for Aberdeen.
