Thats him in the door and there's a 40 min interview with him up on RTV.   Seems an interesting guy, defo with a bit of charisma about him.  He's going to be very engaged with all things first team and under by the sounds of it. Feels it's important that a person in his role should be attending matches of the development teams at all ages reguilarly too, not just for players and their families to see him there, but for the coaches too.      At one point they talked about how in Germany it wasn't uncommon to see the sporting director be on the bench with the manager etc so it will be interesting to see if he does that on Sunday.  Also mentioned he still speaks to Julien Nagelsmann, whom he described as the best manager he ever worked with, a few times a month and the general gist of the chat did make me wonder if we might be looking to Germany again.  He has contacts galore out there for sure though so I wouldn't be too surprised if he was involved in Gyamfi's transfer now I think about it.   Toward the end he also talked very highly of Ryan Gauld and it was hard not to get the impression he was going to try to get him to come home.

Welcome to the good ship Aberdeen FC Lutz, I have a feeling this will be an interesting voyage.

Not watched it yet (thanks for heads up) but having read his autobiography (book review available on Mad 🙃) I’d say we’re guaranteed at least interesting.

Huge personality which worries me after Dave being in thrall to Warnock but he may be a good foil for Jimmy.

I’m just concerned by said contacts. Without sounding all Reform-ish I want a pathway for our own youth not a model to develop players from every corner of the earth. Given both Dave and Jimmy have previously stated this is a priority I hope it’s proven I’m worrying needlessly. It’s going to take time though.

The club have been quite clever in their marketing of Jimmy as a three year project and I think it’s afforded JT more leeway/time than previous incumbents. As a fan base we also need to give Lutz time to turn our pitiful youth pathway around too. I think he’ll get it if we see young players get chance but its unfortunate he’s coming in when we are where we are.

All the best to him, he’ll need it…

I feel positive about the big personality, the club in general feels a bit fragile at the moment.... almost like it's scared of it's own shadow.  A big character can instill confidence in others and I think Thelin is in need of that 2bh.   Warnock was nothing but a tourist whom had never worked outside FA leagues as either player or manager whereas  Lutz is the only player to have played in all six fifa confederations.  He's kinda the anti Warnock you could argue 🤣

Oh for sure, you want a core of homegrown, but I wouldn't say no to getting the next young Bobby Firminho at Aberdeen either......

Maybe expressed myself poorly there - I agree a big personality could be just what we and JT in particular need.

Just concerned it was his force of personality that won Dave over as opposed to his credentials, similar to the gobshite Warnock. I’m just still burned by that guddle.
