Penguin thief appointed

I've not been so excited about the tale of a missing penguin since my first time playing Mario64

Would be nice to see a number of inflatable penguins at his first game.

This guy may end up polarising opinion, but maybe someone could arcticulate the penguin story?

Knowing Dave, he will appoint someone like Carlos Bocanegra.  You heard it here first. 😉

I mean, 5 years as sporting director of St Louis City.  He is just basically the German, Carlos Bocanegra.

Lock up your otters

Thats him in the door and there's a 40 min interview with him up on RTV.   Seems an interesting guy, defo with a bit of charisma about him.  He's going to be very engaged with all things first team and under by the sounds of it. Feels it's important that a person in his role should be attending matches of the development teams at all ages reguilarly too, not just for players and their families to see him there, but for the coaches too.      At one point they talked about how in Germany it wasn't uncommon to see the sporting director be on the bench with the manager etc so it will be interesting to see if he does that on Sunday.  Also mentioned he still speaks to Julien Nagelsmann, whom he described as the best manager he ever worked with, a few times a month and the general gist of the chat did make me wonder if we might be looking to Germany again.  He has contacts galore out there for sure though so I wouldn't be too surprised if he was involved in Gyamfi's transfer now I think about it.   Toward the end he also talked very highly of Ryan Gauld and it was hard not to get the impression he was going to try to get him to come home.

Welcome to the good ship Aberdeen FC Lutz, I have a feeling this will be an interesting voyage.

I feel positive about the big personality, the club in general feels a bit fragile at the moment.... almost like it's scared of it's own shadow.  A big character can instill confidence in others and I think Thelin is in need of that 2bh.   Warnock was nothing but a tourist whom had never worked outside FA leagues as either player or manager whereas  Lutz is the only player to have played in all six fifa confederations.  He's kinda the anti Warnock you could argue 🤣

Oh for sure, you want a core of homegrown, but I wouldn't say no to getting the next young Bobby Firminho at Aberdeen either......

Interview is on youtube:

I know nothing about the man and not sure I know why we are going down this route, but here he is and hopefully can add something to the club.

I have my reservations, but not on the man himself.

He talks a good game, but we will see if he gets results in the job.

I'll be very disappointed if his favourite biscuit isn't a penguin.

Im more of an old fashioned,eyes/instincts > data anlysis re players, but that was certainly an interesting listen, sounds promising too. Got to admire Cormack for trying different things,....time will tell on this guy, good luck to him, seems likeable

Having now watched the RedTV interview and the presser, can't help but be impressed in terms of talking the talk. But we've seen plenty of others with the gift of the gab, so my eternal optimism is bolstered by his experience and clear commitment. So soon in the job to not only be able to talk fluently about the club, but the detail of the likes of Marshall and Lobban is a very positive sign. Fingers crossed. Also great to see he's identified some areas of the pitch where things aren't working - let's hope his analysis is correct.

Just finished reading his book last night. Very much worth a read. He's lived some life. 😂

Everyone knows they've got the tidiest penguins.

A guy he met at a training camp in Brazil was mates with the manager of Dunedin Technical and recommended him.

Theres a whole chapter on his time in NZ.
As well as the penguin theft there’s a cracking story of him being burgled, tracking down the guy who had fenced his stuff and beating him up, stumbling upon the original thief and both beating him up and stripping him in the street.
Instead of being admonished by the police they later let him drive a police car through the streets in the early hours of the morning whilst yelling out the loudspeaker.

As you do.

I am going to need to check this out.  It really is going to be interesting to see what effect he has on the club.

You missed the bit where he walked into a room, while at Forest, to find half the team wanking over a woman lying in a bathtub...

I hope this was after Clough had left the club.
