Reekie_Red Posted yesterday at 10:47 Report Posted yesterday at 10:47 I stand corrected for the new season. Huns ha e gone to Umbro, and Jambos with Hummel. I do like Falkirk's O'Neils top - tidy! And looking at some of the Macron kits this year, they've upped their game Quote

If this is the last Dons strip with Adidas then it's a fine way to bow out. 2 hours ago, Reekie_Red said: Thats a tidy top! It'll be sad to say farewell to the Adidas kits, although I do reckon the club could've maybe pushed for a couple of kits with the retro adidas trefoil badge. Aye they've had a few - as @RicoS321 put it - abominations. But generally we've had 83 and 90 inspired kits and it's been decent. 2 hours ago, Reekie_Red said: Who's next then? Many Scottish Premier clubs have gone with Macron who do okay tops. Hearts are with Umbro which would be very cool from a classic perspective. The Huns seem to be the only ones with Castore, and they can keep them - very basic and very meh designs. I get the fear with some of them. Castore's kits were falling apart, Hummel I don't like the arrows on the sleeves which Hearts & Killie are stuck with. Nike - surprising considering they're a big name - a lot of their strips look cheap. Joma have produced some awful Hibs strips. Puma I'd accept (although that would be a kick in the baws to Adidas), I liked some of the strips we had with them previously and they've been producing some very decent ones for PSV. Umbro have been making a comeback and have a long association with the Dons. Also, don't know if it was just someone making up a rumour, but someone said we were possibly going with Mizuno. Not seen or heard anything else about that, but that would be interesting as their golf gear is of high quality. They're quite new to the club football market - Lazio, Monaco, a few smaller German clubs and their own Japanese market appear to be all they produce for. 1 Quote
wee toon red Posted yesterday at 13:25 Author Report Posted yesterday at 13:25 Isn't Umbro just rebadged Castore these days? If so, they can gtf. I quite like Hummel, there's a proper continental 80s/90s look to their stuff which appeals to the old bastard in me. Macron could be ok, some of their Scotland egg chasing tops have been decent of late. I wouldn't be going anywhere near Joma, I reckon they consistently put out the worst looking tops in the country. BigAl Posted yesterday at 16:37 Report Posted yesterday at 16:37 Most adult sizes completely sold out. Home kit not back in stock until mid August Away kit new supplies in the shop now Quote
tlg1903 Posted yesterday at 18:16 Report Posted yesterday at 18:16 Why are the club being so miserly with how many strips they order these days? It's like they want to sell less shirts. Keep ordering them until there is no demand ffs Quote

They’ve signalled their intent with reducing capacity of any new stadium, and something Davey boy has stood by throughout his tenure. Quote

Previously Aberdeen have been desperately trying to shift shirts at the end of the season, so have obviously over estimated what they would sell. These are "record sales" now though and certainly I've never known us to sell out in just a few hours (I actually went on the club shop site this morning just to see if there were any more photos of the strip and was put in a 20-minute queue). We're not considered an "Elite" club by Adidas (odd, considering we're the only club on their roster who are Scottish Cup holders) so getting a restock appears to take time. If you remember the 'spezial' thing they did, the stock appeared to be really low and has never been restocked. Likewise, I wouldn't put it past us to make headlines with "record sales" and "strip sold out in hours" thing. But why make someone wait a month for a shirt they want now - in a month they might have changed their mind (or found other means). For comparison, Man Utd (who are an Adidas elite club) you can buy both strips in all sizes on their site, and likewise Celtic (elite from this season, which is odd because... I already used the Scottish Cup joke didn't I?) all three strips on their site are available in all sizes. 1 Quote
Slim Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago I guess the dynamics of buying football strips have changed in recent years. When I was a kid, getting the new strip was a birthday or Christmas present, then the kits lasted 2 years minimum. No point in buying a kit at Christmas now as it’ll be obsolete in 5 months, not ideal when they’re not a kick in the arse away from £100. Quote

My daughter's birthday isn't until October but she's desperate for a Dons top with her name on the back. She absolutely loved the 3rd kit when she saw it so, expecting high demand, I've ordered her one. However, that the best part of £70 sitting in a drawer for nearly three months and it'll only have a lifespan of about nine months once she gets it. But then again, as long as mugs like me keep doing that then there's no incentive for clubs and manufacturers to change their ways. Quote

She usually buys the goalie tops, and nobody seems to care whether they're current or not. She got the purple one the other day, which looks ace, and the long sleeves means she'll wear it for longer.
