Still miss post game in the pub! Guess I add here. Based on what we have right now I think it’s fair to say we are targeting a starting

Left back

Center mid-the attacking 10

Winger

Center forward

That’s 4 essentials, but I still think we’re missing a second center mid, so 5 for me. Only Clarkson has the ability to be a starter, just don’t think palaversa shinnie sivert or polvara have done enough to lock in a starting position. And that’s being nice to Clarkson!

We have Milne shinnie devlin Boyd, how many Scots do we need for Europe? Any young boys, including those who went on loan, expected to be first team squad next season? Didn’t overly rate Duncan and we’ve barely heard of him this season which isn’t a good sign.

Is mitov good enough too?

We’ve been through this before with Lewis. He went from being a great keeper to crumbling behind a shit defense. I think he’s good enough but fair question I suppose, but we’ve been so bad defensively it certainly affects your keeper negatively.

Injuries have not helped Mitov either.  Not looked like he is fully fit since returning. But as Orlando says have a poor defence in front of him is main reason his form is dropping.

Five sounds about right. We've got no hope in hell of getting five first team quality players, who also happen to play the way Thelin wants us to play, in one window. We've seen what that leads to. Thelin - and Cormack - need to either announce another year of project work (so expect mediocrity), or change tactic.

On Scots players I don’t think Devlin is sort to stick about to sit on the bench and Thelin seems to prefer Jensen so can see him moving on. Boyd’s development has stalled this season and unless we are going to use him more next season he probably needs to go on loan. Emslie, Lobban and Marshall all seem to have done well at Cove and Bavidage at Inverness after struggling at Ayr. It’s a big step up from league 1 to Premier so not sure any will be ready for first team. I think we will need to get in a couple of Scottish players in our summer spending. Who I have no idea.

Mulligan at Dundee? I'm guessing that there's a reason Docherty doesn't play him as number 8, but looks to me like he could run up and down all day. Haven't seen any other Scottish midfielders that would get in our team. None that would also fit the profile required. I might be imagining it, but it seems like a lot of teams aren't majority Scottish in the SPFL premier these days, so it'll make it even harder to pick up a good Scottish player.

Quick check of top 6 games last night and United were highest with 4 Scots in starting line up. Rest all had less.

A damning statistic.

Tims actually had four starting as well

Milanovic signing confirmed by the club

Three year deal

// bit.ly/3ZeuG4T

Winger Nicolas Milanovic has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Dons after the club agreed an undisclosed fee with Australian A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers.

The highly rated 23-year-old will officially move to the North-east of Scotland in the summer on a three-year deal, with a Club option for a fourth.

With an eye for a goal during his time down under, the Aussie has impressed with his dynamic performances for Wanderers this campaign, netting 12 times and creating six from 25 league matches.

Commenting on his first signing of the summer window, Jimmy Thelin believes Aberdeen will be the ideal platform for Nicolas to fulfil his potential.

“Nicolas is an exciting, up-and-coming player who we believe has a very bright future ahead of him,” he said.

“We’ve been tracking him for some time and with interest from other clubs in Europe, we’re delighted he has chosen to embark on the next stage of his career with Aberdeen.

“He’s made a real impact in the last 18 months in Australia, particularly with his goal contribution and assists and he’s been a consistent figure in the goal charts in the league.

“He’ll bring good physicality and as a left footed, right sided winger, he is the profile of a player we don’t currently have in the squad.

“His energy and creativity will add a different dimension, and we look forward to welcoming him to Aberdeen this summer.”

The Australian U23 international has been a key figure for Wanderers, showcasing his versatility and maturity in various wide midfield and attacking roles.

His arrival will provide added competition and depth to the squad for 2025/26.

“I’m really excited to join Aberdeen,” said Nicolas.

“It’s a Club with a great history and a passionate fanbase and I’m eager to experience all that Scottish football has to offer.

“I’m eager to test myself in a new environment and contribute to the team’s desire to deliver to success. I can’t wait to get started at Pittodrie and be part of the manager’s long-term plans.”

With the pre-contract agreement agreed, Nicolas will link up with his new teammates for pre-season training in late June.

Season can’t end soon enough, and we’re in a cup final.

Feel free to correct me, but since the st mirren away game when we lost our winning run, we’ve been pretty shit. A few good wins but curious to know the league points from that point on (not just us, but standings from then.)

excited to get players in, but we have to get players out. We have a bloated squad that isn’t good enough, Thelin has seen enough to know who is good enough. I’m equally excited to see a player leave compared to one come in.

What’s the deal with sivert? What’s the injury? Curious if we’ll try to punt him despite the 3 year deal. Both he and shinnie will be 34 soon and don’t have the legs for center mid for a full season. Shinnie has been decent at left back but has clearly been exposed at times.
roll on the summer rebuild part 2.

5 wins in last 27 according to this.

I’ll throw this here, horrible run of form coincides with devlin getting knackered, injured, and benched, and Mackenzie dropping out of the team. Early season and success came with those two being two of our best, if not best two players.

Any transfer gossip for Mackenzie, any left backs being linked to us?

Was always hopeful with the Mackenzie transfer talk going quiet and no announcement that he is off he might stay with us. But I doubt that getting a chair to the face is going to go anyway towards convincing him to stick around.

Thought more about Mackenzie and devlin in the last 24 hours. Our best two players early season, both get Scotland call ups, and then wtf. Season couldn’t have gone worse for them. Don’t think either have been treated well, two Scottish players who definitely gave their all for us. Devlin in particular, been a great signing, fully committed Scot who has played well. While Jensen is more technical, is he a better player than devlin? No clue what Mackenzie has said or done, but even with the lack of (known) transfer activity, can’t see him staying.

There was article couple of weeks back linking MacKenzie with move to Plymouth.

Devlin definitely suffered from having to play ever minute of every game at start of the season and looked knackered before his injury. We should have got cover for him in the summer. Pretty sure MacKenzies dip in form was due to him being asked to play with an injury as well due to lack of adequate cover.

I don’t think Jensen is a good a defender as Devlin but is better going forward. I would still be tempted to try Devlin at right back and Jensen in front of him for the final.

Season’s been over for a while now, still no more signings?!!

Keen to see who we target. Simply show potential signings footage of the last 24 hrs and you can see how much you’ll be loved and how much the dons mean to the city. Been sooo impressed and proud of what I’ve seen the last 24 hrs. Wonder what the new Aussie boy is thinking?

I certainly think JTs stock went up, the coach who manufactures this win playing a ‘new’ formation and taking down a team who smashed us multiple times this year. Think we’re in a good position to recruit right now.

definitely think there is now more expectation in the squad building. Don’t intend any meannesss, McGrath is away, but hoping ruby, vinnie sokler dabbagh okkels rich jensen and Ambrose don’t return. even wonder if we can do better than nisbet, esp if we could use those funds to loan miovski.

think we build around mitov doohan (he did fine and is Scottish, let’s say he stays) devlin tobers Milne molloy kneuster Jensen sivert shinnie topi morris gueye Clarkson palaversa polvara Boyd, plus I hope Mackenzie returns. Add the Aussie. That’s 19. I think a squad of 24 is about right, excluding Scottish youth coming through. What stands out is we have no forwards and few Scots, needed for Europe.

Of this 19 I think we have to expect 2-3 may move on, we may get offers for a Clarkson for example. I could even see us getting offers for gueye or Morris based on their highlights from the year. I also wonder if polvara moves on, and wonder if sivert stays. I’d take the money and run if we get decent offers here.

assuming for arguments sake Mackenzie stays, we need to sign a starting holding mid, attacking mid, and center forward. Think we still try to sign a big time winger. We have a keeper and a back 4, I think Clarkson is the only pure starter in midfield, we have topi and the Aussie (or another signing), the other 3 are up for grabs.

Been thinking that Doohan being prepared to go back to The Tims as THIRD choice keeper justifies us not offering him a contract extension.

What a complete lack of ambition at this stage in his football life

Enjoy your bank balance, doubt you'll play as many games again as you have this season.

Trust Jimmy will have someone lined up with a modicum of ambition and desire to push Mitov

Angus Gunn currently a free agent.

Comeback to his Dad's first pro club for a bit to get his career back on track?

Of course he would automatically become invisible to Steve Clarke and Co but international football is a sideshow
